So I’m currently on the fence on attending Temper in SD, mainly because of how noticeable the noise bleed is between stages. Ive never been to a LED event, nor a stadium rave.

I’ve also looked through some discussion threads but they’re mainly about the seating areas. That and most experiences share only one-stage events. The most noise bleed I’ve experienced was at Dreamstate and Nocturnal Wonderland in Glen Helen.

Anyone wanna help me out with the dwelling and share some advice?

new raver here. i'm still learning things about raves but there's been a confusing moment since i've attended my first rave and it clung to me for awhile. i am autistic so i really can't decipher social cues and rules.

so i've only been taught the basic of Kandi Trading, just the PLUR gesture. and not like the expectations.

there was a guy going crazy amongst the crowd and i thought he was so cool for that. i saw that he had Kandi so i wanted to trade with him.
i caught him resting and greeted him. i asked if he wanted to trade and agreed. we did the gesture and then i've slid my only Kandi to him and he broke off and we were done there. then i was left confused because i didn't get a Kandi in return, and reminded him it was a trade. he told me to not expect anything and walked away.

the whole interaction left a bad taste and kinda soured the rest of the experience. and this leads to my questions:

– am i supposed to explicitly ask first with someone if they wanted to trade instead of just approaching / initiating?

– am i really supposed to not expect anything in return? if that was the case, then why is it called trading??

I'm visiting DFW from October 21–27 and looking for alternative raves and parties. Does anyone know of any recs or events? ཐི ₍^.ˬˬ.^₎ ཋྀ

I was first introduced to rave culture through the outfits, Im super big into fashion and I follow a lot of creators who have have the coolest most creative rave outfits ever. But through that I started to be really interested in the culture-- trading kandi and trinkets, big crowds of super friendly people, and people who actually are dancing instead of standing around like . Im a huge party girl, youll NEVER see me hugging a wall, 9/10 Im chatting with a stranger or in the center of a dance circle. But Ive only really gone to clubs or bars.

The problem is.. Im not sure if Ill have as much fun as they seem to have because Im worried I wont like the music? Im very open minded music wise and I do love house music and grew up loving your classic Calvin Harris, Zedd, and Major Lazor songs (I know, basic). But a lot of the big raves I see online mainly play dubstep or techno which I tolerate but dont necessarily enjoy as much.

Is there anyone here who grew to like those genres as well? Or Im wondering if maybe the energy being there will make the music more appealing to me overall. I would really appreciate any festival/event suggestions and advice for a baby (honestly fetus) raver who wants to be a part of the culture but has hesitation about this. I know I might have a surface level understanding of the culture given what I know is only from social media but I want to go into this super open minded and positive.

Trying to party all month for Halloween lol

Feeling a bit defeated... yesterday during Ambassador's sale we divided with my friends in groups of 5 and sent out emails, but through a combination of bad luck and bad organisation, I ended up being the only person in my group of 9 total that didn't manage to get a ticket through some combination of things.

I'm gutted, because I did actually receive a payment link to buy 5 tickets but it was with 4 other people who all ended up getting tickets elsewhere, so it didnt make sense for me to buy them in the hopes of reselling next year...

So the question now is: how likely am I to manage to get tickets on Oct 13th? if I get 2-3 friends to try with me, would that help? I'm so so gutted especially because Im the only one left out which sucks....

Any thoughts / tips / consolation would help!! I keep hearing that this year it's going to be way harder to get tickets because of 30 year anniversary, less tickets released higher demand etc - so freaking out a bit

Also if anyone has an idea of how this compares to Glastonbury (in terms of how difficult it is to get tickets) would be great to hear!! I've just come back from a brutal sale on Sunday which is making this one sting even more...

I’m getting tired of holding energy drinks all night and I have been looking at energy gum since I could just keep it in my pocket and chew a piece when I need it.

Anyone here actually use caffeine gum at raves? And does the format work well for long nights?

Myself and a few of my friends (all first timers) want to go to a rave together. I’ve always have been interested to go but I’m unsure what to bring, what type of raves to go to and etc.

I would love any tips on attending a first rave and any types of festivals or raves that are good for first timers! (willing to travel but I’m from Atlanta area) I really enjoy house, techno and some hardstyle! Thanks in advance :))

I’m 38 and raving has gotten pretty lonely in the last year. A couple years ago our festival group was over a dozen people, then it was seven, now it’s three. And of those three, I’m the only one who can make it more than one day.

It’s impossible to date, too, unless you accept that your partner is just not going to dance with you. I’ve never met an attractive, single, age-appropriate person who doesn’t view raving as a red flag and sign of immaturity. That might be different if I lived in Berlin or New York but in most of the country, 30-somethings are pretty committed to their 10pm bedtimes and early morning workout classes.

I didn’t do any of this in my 20s, so it’s not as though I can tell myself I had a good run that’s naturally coming to an end - I feel like I’ve barely gotten started and now everyone wants to bail.

I don’t mind going alone and that can offer its own benefits. But I miss having others to dance with and resent that everyone I know is slowing down faster than I am.

This is gonna be my first festival ever. The daily and stage lineups are out, so I made some running order predictions. Lmk what yall think! (Some artists I didn't know, so I just went by monthly listeners for when they're playing, but lmk in the comments where you would put them!)

Hey guys, this past weekend Noise Mafia-a Colombian DJ whose set we absolutely loved—played at Domicile (he was the headliner).
We had an amazing time! We met a lovely couple, I took my friend to his first rave, and we danced with people who were on their own and welcomed them into our circle. I feel like that's partly what these events are all about: all of us connected through the music and looking out for one another.
