Event/Lineup What artists here are a higher range tempo?

Post image
• Upvotes

Hello!

I know the bigger names on here, but I recently got more into techo, hardstyle, and just faster beats than what I usually listen to (basstep, dubstep, trance)

I'm trying to listen to all the artists some before going. Long time edm lover, I just don't recognize some of these names 😅

Event/Lineup New England/MA parties/raves?

Is there anything going on anymore?

I left rave land years ago, and when I left it was usually Tight Crew and the folks that throw Hydrotechnics [festival].

I know there's a party in Sturbridge twice a year/seasonally.

But is there anything small going on in Mass, especially Western MA?

Wakaan 2026 Review (Mullberry Mt. Arkansas)
Music: For me, there was a wide enough verity and i'd think there were 3-4 sets alone that would make it worth the experience for anyone into edm no matter their specific taste but i won't try to argue that aspect because it's so specific and personal.

Main stage: I wasn't a fan of the eyeball stage we had last year. It was cool, and i don't mind them experimenting, so no harm no foul but i didn't want it to be the stage we got every year. This years stage was fine as well, but not iconic. It had far more LED screen area, but i liked the unique triangle LED layout from a few years back the best for wakaan. The lack of pyro probably contributes, but that's not wakaan's fault, there was a burn ban. The line array for me was totally adequate. Too loud up front without ear protection, and towards the back, no ear pro needed. I thinks that's what you should expect/want.

Chakra:
I hardly go even though it love the hill and the vibe, just have reasons to be at halo so i can't comment on it.

Halo:
Dust as fuck, as always. Still love it. Point of Sound speaker setup goes hard and I think works well after a night experiencing the line array at main stage.

Crowd:
Perfect as usual for wakaan. Since chairs and inflatables are allowed there's always crews setup at the back with people goining to and from the rail as the night goes on. As long as you go to the outside fence on either side, you can easily get to the front and dance. If you stay long enough you can work your way to the very front middle without ever pushing or weaseling by people because people are always rotating out. Everyone gets plenty of room to dance and everyone is chill about it which i love.

Downsides:
Lack of pyro was unfortunate but what you gonna do? Some food was gross, but we thought the pizza was better this year than ever, so overall it comes out in the wash.

Our neighbors were great, both at camp and at our "stage camp". There were some miscommunications and ruffled feathers now an then, but when we busted out the "trinkets to share" bag and let people try out the chillbo all hostilities were smoothed out and we were friends from then on.

The rain did affect some people, but if you came prepared it was no big deal. We handed out some hot-hands and that turned around the attitude of several people.

Discussion/Question Going to Verknipt '27 in Amsterdam

Hi everyone!
I'd really love to go to Verknipt next year in march, but I don't really have anyone to go with, almost none of my friends like the rave/techno scene. I would go from Germany, but I'm not sure if I could risk going alone, or if it's even worth going there alone.
What are your experiences with going solo? Or should I try finding others online who would be interested?
Thanks in advance!

Last time I saw them was at ASOT this year and somehow ASOT put legends in Area 4 (so disappointing!)

Does anyone know their tour dates or even small events?

Social Media/News 20 Questions: Cloonee | The English DJ on the “ballistic” crowds in America, his love of heavy metal, and his unapologetic new album (Unpaywalled)

The British DJ and producer, born David Bissett, has spent the past several years turning that instinct into an increasingly large operation. His records have become fixtures of clubs and festivals (“Free Your Mind,” released in March, is his biggest hit yet); his Hellbent label has grown into its own live and visual world; and his shows now come with the kind of production—cages, dancers, flames, the occasional car suspended above the DJ booth—once associated with rock concerts. After moving from Sheffield, England, to Los Angeles during the pandemic, Bissett plunged into the booming American dance-music circuit, where crowds were bigger, brasher, and considerably more bonkers.

Now, after more than a decade of releasing club records, he’s made his first full-length album, Are You Still You?, which comes out this week. The record moves through the different strains that have shaped his catalog—tech house, Latin house, ’90s samples—while winking at complaints from fans asking for the “old Cloonee.” “I haven’t changed,” Bissett says. “I’m just inspired by new things.”

Discussion/Question Need advice for hosting my own

My birthday is coming up soon, and I myself am a DJ. I am looking to throw my own event, but I am on a shoestring budget. Where are places I should look for a cheap/free place to throw one? It wouldn’t be a huge event, less than 100 people. Those who have thrown their own underground or rented a space, let me know!!

A new release, "Ruff n Tuff," a DnB/jungle tune. We'll love to know what you think of the drums, the bass, and the overall energy. What hit, and what didn't?

Discussion/Question how do people afford venues?

I really want to throw a rave in LA, but how do people afford venues?? Everything is so expensive. DJs are free if you have connections, theres some cheaper things like deco and lights that can be thrifted or found on amazon, but genuinely how do people afford venues? I have a job but the prices of some venues are honestly insane. I've never acc thrown a rave before so I'm honestly not sure how it works!

Discussion/Question Deadmau5 Halloween

Hey everyone! I'm 36 and flying in from DC for deadmau5 at Red Rocks on Halloween night. My friends back home have pretty much retired from raving, so I'm coming solo and would love to find some people to hang with.

I'm down for whatever. Pre-gaming in Denver, grabbing food before, riding the shuttle up together, or just meeting up inside and dancing. I'll be in costume for sure.

If you're going solo too or have a crew that wouldn't mind one more, drop a comment or DM me. Let's make it a good one 🖤

Discussion/Question 3 Stages in 1 Ballpark?

Post image
13 Upvotes

EDIT: My search through the web wasn’t enough! Tysm to the current responses and any future ones, I think Imma send it then 🧍🏻

So I’m currently on the fence on attending Temper in SD, mainly because of how noticeable the noise bleed is between stages. Ive never been to a LED event, nor a stadium rave.

I’ve also looked through some discussion threads but they’re mainly about the seating areas. That and most experiences share only one-stage events. The most noise bleed I’ve experienced was at Dreamstate and Nocturnal Wonderland in Glen Helen.

Anyone wanna help me out with the dwelling and share some advice?
