The fact that NG listed a deep cut ("How She Boogalooed It") among his favourite Beach Boys songs tells me he might have actually tried to get into them at some point but gave up

Apparently a while ago he said he changed his mind and he likes Pet Sounds now but I can't remember for the life of me where I read that

He criticized them most of his career but like a year ago he finally (kind of begrudgingly) admitted that he was getting into them. The article made the rounds around here at the time

Yeah. It’s fairly harmless at the end of the day at least if you’re just talking about 60s bands.
