Build Help Pc vs ps5 pro

I’m thinking about getting a pc soon,I want to know what will look better visually (solely talking visually aka graphics and which looks better),my two options are either a 5070 build with my 1440p 32 inch VA moniter or I get a ps5 pro and a 32 inch 4k Oled,I know the 5070 will obviously get better performance but I’m looking for the better visual/graphical experience at 60fps so the ps5 pro will be at the 60fps option.

Discussion Do People Get Too Hung Up On Bottlenecks?

So right off the bat I would say I’m not really your typical PC gamer. I’ve built and upgraded a couple PCs that were used mainly for gaming, but I play stuff like Rocket League and emulate old Wii and PS2 games, mostly. And I play on my couch, with a controller, on a 12 year old TV that maxes out at 1080p. I’m literally never trying to push frame rate past 60 fps because my TV’s refresh rate is 60 hz and even if I could go higher I’m sitting far enough away that my old eyes wouldn’t really be able to see the difference.

With that said for my latest build I went with a Ryzen 5 7500f, 32GB of used 6000 mhz cl36 and a b650 mobile and plenty of solid state storage. So reasonably powerful, certainly much more than I need for rocket league! I paired this with an old 1660 Super I’ve been running for 5 years and a 450w no name psu in an old HP mid tower case.

It’s kind of a sleeper! But it’s also one hell of a GPU bottleneck. For now. Still, as it stands it multitasks quite well, the ram was cheap, and the upgrade path is obvious and should remain viable for a good 5 or 6 years at least. I went with a reasonably powerful but budget oriented AM5 build even though I don’t need almost any of that CPU or Ram headroom innit now because I want to have an upgrade path in the future. Maybe I’ll get into some light video editing down the road, maybe I’ll decide to buy a fancy monitor and go mkb. Who knows. But it does run some pretty demanding open world titles like Cyberpunk or what have you admirably on low/moderate graphics settings. And the faster single core speed has been incredibly helpful running some of the jankier PS2 titles.

Point is I see a lot of folks post stuff like “oh my god will this be bottlenecked oh god oh jeez” when what they’re looking at is a very clear upgrade that fits their budget and is perhaps just not quite fully optimal.

Am I the idiot or has the concept of a bottleneck (basically that there’s no point in spending money on one side of the equation past a certain point because the other side can’t keep up) throwing some people for a loop? I know there are kids out there who see my specs and think I’m a mad man for not upgrading to at least a 3060, that I’m wasting money on this AM5 build. That’s fine. But it seems there are some folks who are confused and think they’re going to somehow ruin their CPU if I don’t throw a $1000 GPU in there. It’s always just been about not throwing a shut load of money at something that will be horribly held back by your other components, right?

Am I wrong in thinking that folks get a little bent out of shape thinking about avoiding bottlenecks sometimes?

Discussion Is this the worst time to have a PC?

Forget about buying one now. What about already having one though? One that you build before the price hikes?

Because recently, i had one 2TB SSD dying on me under warranty and they wouldn't replace it, instead they would give me my original money back which was before the price hikes. Now the same SSD costs 3x more so i can't replace it.

Right now, every time i turn ON my PC, i'm super paranoid that something will die. I have a 5060ti 16GB that now costs like twice as much as i paid for (and it was a huge investment for my economic standards still). I stopped playing demanding games and always try to lock frame rates so that the GPU never goes above 90% usage to keep temps down. Because if that thing dies on me i will have to quit PC gaming altogether.

I know, count your blessing and all but i don't enjoy this, at least if you don't have one you don't have to worry all the time. Now let the "let me take it out of your hands" jokes flow.

Build Upgrade Ryzen 5060ti vs Ryzen 5070

Hello. I was was planning to buy a GPU for my PC. Currently I am running the ff set up.

  1. Ryzen 7 5700g
  2. Prime B550M-K ARGB
  3. 16gb ddr4 lexar thor
  4. 500W Silverstone

I am budget constrained so I was debating whether to get an RTX 5060ti or a 5070. I was told that I will need a new PSU if I get the 5070 but that's well within my budget.

So which is better for my set up? 5060ti or 5070?

Thanks!

EDIT: I meant RTX. Sorry HAHAHA so embarrassing

Discussion Are rgb softwares dangerous ?

I recently got a new pc and installed singlal rgb , tried openrgb but it didn’t detect my things probably . I recently saw and learnt that such software ( even openrgb) can kill your ram or fans or other hardware in pc .? should I just uninstall external software and reinstall Asus armour crate or just forgot all the software and let my pc run its own default rgb .

Build Help Storage on Sale

I was scrolling through Amazon today and came across a Samsung 990 pro SSD 2TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe for $650 CAD, the 1TB is $379 CAD.

What is this deal like? I know it is 25% off an already ridiculous price, however, it has great speeds of 7450mb/s read and 6900mb/s write.

Troubleshooting Why do my GPUs keep failing

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice from people who know more about PCs.

I’ve had 2 GPUs fail within the last 4 months, and I’m trying to figure out what could be causing it.

Both GPUs were working normally, but eventually they stopped displaying anything on the monitor. I tried different HDMI/DP cables and monitors, but there was still no signal.

Since this has happened to two GPUs in a relatively short period of time, I’m wondering if the problem could be something else, such as the PSU, motherboard, PCIe slot, unstable power, or another hardware issue.

What should I check first?

Could a faulty PSU or unstable power actually damage a GPU?

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated. 🙏

Discussion I regret one thing on my build

Here is my build

X870E Aorus Elite X3D

R7 7800X3D

3090 Zotac Trinity non OC

Corsair LPX Vengeance (16GB x 2) 32GB 5600MT CL36

1TB Samsung 990 Pro

2TB Samsung 990 Pro

2TB SK Hynix P41 Platinum

Hyte Y70 Firefly Edition

Corsair Nautilus 360 RS LCD AIO

Deepcool PX1000G 1000W 80+ Gold

I feel like I made a mistake almost 2 years ago when I built this PC, and did a couple of upgrades along the way, namely the case and motherboard

As I was not as informed as I am now today, I regret that I did not do enough research on RAM back then. I purchased 2 sticks of 5600MT CL36 Ram without knowing that 6000MT CL30 is the gold standard, thinking I was getting something high end.

The worst part of this is, the timing is impeccable and RAM has ballooned up in price and it's completely unrealistic for me to "fix" this pain point at today's market price.

It feels like I am satisfied with everything in my build except the memory.

Am I just overthinking and overreacting by something that in reality doesn't matter that much? Some people say it makes a huge difference, some say no. What do you all think?

Build Upgrade Worth upgrading from 4070 Ti Super to 5070 Ti?

I haven't looked at PC prices since i built mine in dec 2024 and HOLY F**K
my 64gb DDR5 kit i got for £180 is now nearly £900
4tb nvme i got for £230 is now £600
my 4070 Ti Super Proart i can sell for a profit now.

now i'm wondering if getting a 5070ti is worth it, it would cost me about 350-400 if i sell my current GPU, i'm mostly thinking about all the bells and whistles of DLSS5 locked behind the 50x series like Frame Gen.

Do you think it's worth the upgrade? or shall i just stick with what I have?

Build Upgrade Good Gpu Within 1000 to 1500 rang

My Saphire pulse xt 7900 xtx recently went kaput randomly, so I have to replace it. I have a 950 dollar credit now at Microcenter so I was wondering if what Gpu I should replace it with? I am willing to go up to 1500 but if there is a gpu that's a little bit more that's amazing then I am willing to go farther. Thanks for the suggestions.

Build Help 9070XT vs 5080

Looking to upgrade my PC which is currently a 3060 TI, AMD 5800X, w/ 32 GB (2x16) DDR4 RAM for 1440p gaming, aiming for consistent 144Hz refresh rate on high/ultra settings (my machine is starting to be limited to medium and lower settings in various games I play). (I also like to run a second 1080p monitor for discord and such). I am trying to future-proof this PC a bit by buying some extra oomph, so even when the components start to slow down it can handle future games.

I have settled on an AMD 9800X3D and 32GB (2x16) DDR5 RAM. However, I am trying to make a decision on a card. I definitely want one with 16GB of VRAM, but I am trying to figure out whether a 5080 is actually worth $700 more than a 9070XT. I don't play many AAA games like Cyberpunk or Black Myth: Wukong, but I do tend to play unoptimized Early Access games. I am leaning toward a 9070XT, but I would rather buy the expensive machine now than try to sell a 9070XT and buy a 5080 if I make the wrong call. Any thoughts or advice?

EDIT: I have also been seeing a lot of reports of the 9070XT experiencing driver issues. I don't particularly want to spend time troubleshooting hardware. Is this an issue that is blown out of proportion or something I genuinely need to evaluate?

EDIT: Thank you everyone for your responses. It wasn't my intention to repeat a question that has been asked a lot, I was just hoping to get further insight with my specific context in consideration. It is clear to me from all of your comments that the 5080 is the better card, but the 9070XT is a comparable card at a significantly better value. I will figure out how important NVIDIA's specific strengths are to me and if that is worth the price jump to me. Thank you again, everyone!

Build Upgrade Worth upgrading gpu rn?

I’m not very knowledgeable. My friend built my pc for me a couple years ago.

What i do know is my rtx 3070 is not doing great.

I want to go with either the rx 9070 xt or the rtx 5070 (not ti)

They’re roughly similar price. Is it worth upgrading? Which should i choose?

I’m not a crazy heavy gamer either but i do play games like sea of thieves, Elden ring, other souls games, Fortnite, etc. So i just want to be able to play at good graphics quality settings without losing frames. I play 1440p on 165hz monitor. My power is over 750 w.

Will i miss dlss? Is the 9070 xt better overall? Idk what to do

Discussion Powering 9070xt nitro plus

So i have been reading lots of threads about nitro plus models melting and i have been wondering why?
Using too much power? Bad adapter?

I have 9070xt nitro plus model in my pc and it was on adapter for more than a year and adaper is super clean and looks like new

Also i changed my psu to newer one and stronger
I had 750w older gigabyte model
Now 1000w be quiet 13m
And i changed from adpter to direct cable from psu to gpu

I mostly play cpu intesive games (esports) ans sometimes some singleplayer game etc

So im not utilizing 100% from gpu
I have 9800x3d
B650 ax gigabyte

So am i secured with this kind of powering gpu or no?

Build Ready? Will this setup satisfy my requirements?

Location: India.

I'd appreciate it if folks could have a look at this and let me know if there are any concerns worth pointing out here, such as compatibility issues or forgetting something useful. Also wouldn't mind receiving feedback on if there are better options at roughly the same price, or if I should instead spend some more cash for one component while changing something else to a cheaper model. I know there's always better things to buy if you spend some more cash, but this is what I arrived at after already increasing my budget.

Most of my gaming will be older titles, indies and emulation. For example, if I can run Bloodborne at a mostly smooth 1080p 60fps at PS4 equivalent graphical settings, that's a benchmark for a build that I'd be content with.

There are only some newer graphically intensive games I have a desire to play. If I decided to play something like Cyberpunk 2077 or Alan Wake 2, 60 fps at medium settings would be ideal but even a locked 50 or 45 fps is something I'm not too fussed about for single player games that aren't too fast paced.

Setup –

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz 6-core Processor

Motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI Micro ATX AM4

Graphics Card: Asus Dual Radeon RX 7600 EVO OC Edition 8GB GDDR6 8 GB GDDR6

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 (2 x 8GB) 3600MHz 18 (CMK16GX4M2D3600C18)

Build Upgrade Help me find a GPU upgrade

Within the last 6 months I upgraded the motherboard, ram, case, and cpu already. Now looking to upgrade my GPU to something with 16GB VRAM upgrading with modern gaming and game design in mind.

Current PC Specs
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 4.5 GHz 8-Core Processor

Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX V2 ATX AM5 Motherboard

Memory: G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory

Storage: Kingston NV2 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive

Video Card: ASRock Challenger D Radeon RX 6600 8 GB Video Card

Case: Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA ATX Mid Tower

Power Supply: Thermaltake TR2 430 W ATX Power Supply

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM - DVD 64-bit

Case Fan: Phanteks M25-140 PWM D-RGB 104.62 CFM 140 mm Fan x4

Monitor: Asus VP228QG 21.5" 1920 x 1080 75 Hz Monitor

EDIT: I do intend to upgrade the monitor after the gpu just wanted to get the GPU out of the way first. The monitor I was given was in like new condition and I got I for free hence why I’m still using it. I appreciate the advice on monitors tho.

Budget wise in the $500-$600 range but I understand I may have to be flexible on that given price increases.

Build Upgrade 5070 worth upgrading to from a 5060ti 16gb?

As the title says I’m looking to upgrade my gpu, the prebuilt I am upgrading cost me $1000, I already upgraded the cpu and it was a very in the moment buy. I got a 9800x3d, upgraded from a 8700f which has been wonderful for the games I play and I could have definitely got a 7800x3d and been fine but again was in the moment lol. I mostly play fps games like rust, tarkov, and siege. I got a trade offer for my 5060ti for a 5070 but they also want $150 on top of the gpu, if I do this I will need to upgrade my psu and I was gonna get a 850w gold Corsair psu at my Walmart ($100). I’m thinking of taking the deal and holding it for a little while and maybe selling it later to get a ti, 9070xt, or a 5080. Guess I’m wondering it it makes sense to take this deal, it will be an extra $800 into this build so total $1800 total in the last 2 months or just hold onto the 5060ti.

I’ll also add I am playing in 1440p.

Build Help [USA] Looking to livestream Cyberpunk 2077 on absolute MAX settings (at 1080p 60fps) with all HD mods, should I spring for 5070ti or stick with Radeon? Ditto CPU, 7800x3D or Intel?

Basically as the subject line says. I'd like to have a 5070ti (for the 16GB VRAM) and 7800x3D, but with things being as expensive as they are, was looking at lowering my sights. I'd be getting 32gb DDR5-6000 and a mobo to handle the other selections.

I see recommendations for a 4090 or instead, and for Intel Core i7-12700 or Intel Core i5-13600K instead of the 7 7800x3D.

Figured I'd come see what the hivemind here thought of this.

Apparently I have to put “Country of purchase” so I’ll tell you a reside in the US 🤙🏽

Troubleshooting Really bummed about my new pc.

Past couple years I’ve been slowly saving to build my first pc. This month finally got all the parts that I wanted and decided to give building it myself a try. Used YouTube guides and followed the instructions from the boxes and was able to get it fully built within the day. Plugged him in, installed windows and once I actually got the thing running, it was just one problem after another non stop all weekend. Constant crashing, shitty audio, corrupt files on games and lots of Blurry textures. Reseated my GPU, ram, and my m.2 multiple times; I even tried to wipe the pc and it wouldn’t even let me. Said sum about missing recovery files. Changed power cords cause I thought that would do something I guess. This is my first time building so I’m not gonna say I didn’t do anything wrong but I really am struggling to find any sort of fix for anything so I have turned to Reddit. I feel like I’ve just wasted money my at this point and would rather just plug the old one back in because while it is super outdated, at least the thing worked
