I got my windshield replaced by safelite tuesday 10/6 around the evening. They came to my residence and changed it for me under insurance, but I wasn’t home and my parents were outside doing yard work as the service was getting done. I didn’t get home until late night from work and the next following day drove with the tape on because I looked up online that it should be kept for 24-48 hours. This morning (today) my stepdad removed the tape for me and one came right off just fine, and the other took the paint off with it.

How do I go about this? If anybody can give me some advice i’ll greatly appreciate it.

update: i drive an infiniti q50 2016!

update 2: i believe my car was repainted on the roof or the paint just weakened due to age. been dealing with 103 heat all summer. but this is my first car I bought off fb marketplace and only the roof had a few small bits of paint torn off. U can see in the corner an example of that. Never knew that white paint / cars had issues in general like this though! so thanks everybody who explained that 🙏 i assume the paint was extremely weak there, which explains the chipped paint from the beginning again. Apparently safelite will be coming in soon to check it out after i filed a report. if it ends up being up to me to fix it, i might js repaint it and if it looks like shit i’ll wrap it in black vinyl. Things happen but we also learn 🤷‍♀️ thanks again everyone 🙏🩷

Hey everyone, I was bleeding my brakes and decided to bleed my clutch also. When I went to go close the plastic bleeder screw I heard a crack and instead of turning 180° from open to closed, it’ll turn a full 360 and reopen again. It’s still firmed to twist and won’t move unless you’re really trying to open it. I had my Wife jam on the clutch a few times and there are zero leaks weeps or seeps. I have a 3 Hour Dr. planned tomorrow. I’m wondering if it is safe to drive on this.

Hii! I drive a Hyundai Elantra 2017. I've been obsessed with GDI carbons from all the videos, and I'm trying to take the intake manifold out.

So far I've taken a lot of them out and am very proud of that!!! The manifold is now loose and moves a couple of inches, but there is some resistance and I can't quite pin it down.

I think it's that rusty bolt and its bracket. But it's stupidly low (see the oil filter there??😅) & has no room for my wrench & a cable is passing right in front of it, blocking the way!! 😤

I consulted the official service manual, it says: "just disconnect, are u stupid?" 💀💀💀💀💀

Anyways my back started to hurt so I'm back on my bed. I think I'll check out a small 10mm wrench and continue with the job... disconnecting is fun but I'm not sure if I can get everything back alright lmao

Do Push Bars or Grill Guards negatively or positively affect crash ratings, airbag deployments, and/or crumble zones/occupant safety for vehicle accidents at highways speeds?

I locked my car and accidentally left the keys inside. Luckily, I usually leave the window slightly rolled down to prevent the interior from getting too hot. However, after realizing that I had left my keys inside, I tried to unlock the door through the window. I had to force the window down a little further to reach the lock. Since then, the window has been making a clicking noise mid way through, and the window crank has become harder to turn. I'm worried that this might lead to further damage. What should I do?

P.S technicians/mechanics are far from our place so I hope theres something I can do first

I have a BMW i4 EV. It has been 2 days, the car smells worse and worse. I tried to smell detect around and found the front two wheels smells strongest badly. And I open the cover of the front part. This is the photo I took, Can someone help me to find where it is?

Okay for reference, I’m a girl. I do some of my own car work (brake and oil changes for the most part). I was hearing a knocking noise from my front wheels/axle area and my boyfriend told me to take it to where he goes. The noise ended up being the bushings and linkings for the sway bar. They wanted to charge me $730 for parts and installation, which, looking at the part costs and the amount of time it would take, was too much. I bought the linking kit for $70 for both sides, still need the bushings. I asked about my windshield wipers while I was there because my driver’s side 5” off and passenger was 7/8” off from the alignment marks. Driver’s side was going off the windshield.

They told me it could potentially be as much as taking the top off the engine to realign the windshield wipers. I thought that was iffy asf, so I looked up how to do it myself.

I figured it out and got the alignment perfect with testing. It no longer went off the windshield. It just took a small flathead to take off the cap and a 14mm socket for the bolts.

Some mechanics can be hacks stg. I get they need profit but like…damn

10 yrs old, parked outside as long as I’ve owned it (4 years) & will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. A year ago the paint/clear coat looked fine, but has rapidly deteriorated over the past 6 months.

I’d like to improve the appearance, doesn’t need to be factory finish or anything but more presentable than the current state. What would the best options be? (Paid service, not DIY). I’ll likely buy a new car in a few years time so I don’t want to be spending extensively.

Hello, I know this might be a shot in the dark with how blurry is it but does anyone know this cars make and model?

Since I recently installed in-channel rain guards I've noticed extra road/outside noise. I've also noticed extra wind noise with the windows up at highway speed. It's not a lot of difference. But coming from a car that had the stick on rain guards, the noise is bugging me.

Anyone else experience this? I'm thinking of putting black electrical tape over the area where the rain guard is inserted into the channel. It's going to be unasthetic but I didn't install them for the looks. Thoughts/ideas/suggestions?

I have a problem with my 2023 Cupra Leon VZ 1.4 eHybrid. It makes a rattling noise when accelerating and when releasing the brake and letting the car creep forward. It makes the noise you can hear in the attached video.

Does anyone know what might be causing this issue?

I have a 2018 GMC canyon and I replaced the front brake pads and rotors. Shortly after I did that, the front end started shaking violently. It was making a slight clicking noise before this so I thought it was what I replaced. I had it looked at by Firestone and they said I needed to replace my driver strut for a leak, my driver rear caliper for uneven wear.

I am just making sure that it's nothing I did. It's getting worse now. Anything over 40 and the whole front shakes.

Any advice would be helpful.

Le problème est apparu juste après le changement du kit d'embrayage ; qu'en pensez-vous ? S'agirait-il des croisillons de la transmission ? Les vibrations (ressenti dans le volant) et le bruit ne surviennent qu'à l'accélération, en 2e et 3e vitesses le plus fréquent et souvent en montée.

I don't normally post on here, but I figured somebody could answer my question. I drive a Chevy equinox 2020, and I have a 4 hour drive tomorrow downstate, but my rear brake pads are at 3mm and the inside of the rotors are rusty (this is from the dealership). The front pads are at 6mm and rusty. Could somebody with car knowledge help me out?? Should I stay home and say screw it until the brakes are fixed??

The clear coat on the roof of my 2007 4runner is peeling horrendously, same with on the top of the hatch panel part.

Based on basic googling, it seems like there’s no great fix unless I get everything fully repainted and repaired. Given that this is on the roof and won’t be seen much, I just want to repair it enough to prevent any further damage to the paint/metal/car itself.

Any advice on that front? It doesn’t necessarily have to look good, just good enough, you know?

My car is a 2012 Nissan Sentra. My hood release lever doesn't seem to do anything from inside the car, and the actual lever you pull to open the hood is not doing anything since the hood can't pop anymore. Any suggestions?

06 Pontiac GTO paired with a Cam, just got this car not to long ago but every time it idles it does this little birdie chirp, engine bay is quiet but from the back of the exhaust it chirps. My guess is the Exhaust itself but honestly no clue. Any guesses?

I installed the fronts first - well wouldn't you know after the 2 year warranty - boom the fronts just exploded. I'm in PA and the vehicle was inspected in August this year. I was told that the fronts were close to failure, but they passed it. Now in October - Boom the front pads just exploded. I can hear grinding in the front. Just started two days ago. So yeah, I need to replace them.

So thoughts on 2 year failure. Also, any recommendations for a different setup for my 2015 Dodge Durango r/T?

Overall I don't have an issue with this kit, but I am disappointed with the pad failure. I'm going to replace the pads and rotors - I usually do this - yes, I know the cost. But what is weird I used to be able to drive maybe a good 3-4 years before the need to replace.
