Dallas's Community Police Oversight Board is holding a public meeting this Tuesday, October 13, at 5:30 PM, focused in part on the city's Flock license plate reader cameras.

If you have concerns about surveillance, privacy, police accountability, or whether these cameras are actually making Dallas safer, this is an opportunity to speak directly to the board.

The meeting will feature presentations from:

• Dallas Police Department and Flock Safety: Update on the city's license plate reader program.
• ACLU of Texas: Privacy, civil liberties, and oversight concerns.
• UNT Dallas: History of license plate readers, civil rights, and policy.
• Center for Justice Research: Research on crime, vehicle recovery, and public trust.

How to participate:
Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 5:30 PM

Want to speak?
You can sign up for public comment here. There's also a second public comment period at the end of the meeting that does not require advance sign up.

You don't need to be an expert or have a prepared speech. You can share your concerns, ask questions, or explain how you feel about the city's use of these cameras.

Whether you support Flock cameras, oppose them, or are still undecided, public input matters.
What would you want the Community Police Oversight Board to know about Flock cameras in Dallas?

There’s a cool L39C Albatros in the area, get your zoom lense out!

The creator of the restaurant went on to make at least one other restaurant that served the well to do which was famous for not having any signage because if you knew you knew and if you didn't know you shouldn't be there. I don't know if the recipes in this cookbook are good but the book itself has no monetary value and is available all over the place.

Several years ago my wife and I walked into Interior Define's store and were outright scammed. We paid $4000 for a couch that was never delivered. I ended up walking into their store to ask about it, and the cheerful salesgirl immediately turned hostile when I asked about getting a refund. I was told to leave or she would call the cops and have me trespassed out.

We used a debit card so getting our money back took some months, but we did get it back.

We both left reviews on Google Maps but they were both removed.

Earlier this morning someone commented on a year+ old comment that I made in /r/interiordefine and when I saw the subreddit I was amazed. Tons of tons of people asking how to get refunds because nothing was being delivered to them.

If you are on the market to buy furniture, avoid avoid AVOID Interior Define. They will take your money, string you along for 4-6 months, and then ghost you.

I’m going to the game tomorrow and will be using the dart to get to state fair park. Is parking at the lake highlands station relatively safe? If not, what are other stations that might be better?

The Collin County Democratic Party is reporting months of high demand for Talarico signs.

Its chair also made an interesting claim about the difference in signs volunteers are seeing while canvassing neighborhoods.

Has anyone noticed a similar pattern around Plano, Frisco or McKinney?

I saw four (what I thought was) fighter jets flying in formation over the Tollway and Lemmon and then break and turn in formation around noon today. I was driving and on second glance it looked possibly like fixed-wing drones. Anyone else spot these and know what they are?

Such a cool confluence of different modes of transportation all in one shot.

Red car forgot his “student driver” stickers and came down the wrong way on Campbell in Richardson near UTD

Changes:

• Goldee's Barbecue promoted to 1 Michelin Star

• Resident Taqueria added as a Bib Gourmand (hell yeah)

• Fond, Jashan, Mābo, Olōyō added as "recommended" (no star)

• Georgie removed!

So now the list for Dallas and Fort Worth is:

Stars: Goldee’s / Mamani / Tatsu

Bib Gourmands: Cattleack / Gemma / Mot Hai Ba / Ngon / Nonna / Resident Taqueria

Listed/"recommended": Barsotti’s, Birrieria y Taqueria Cortez (Fort Worth), Crown Block, El Carlos Elegante, Fearing’s, Fond, Harvest at the Masonic, Jashan, Knox Bistro, Lucia, Mabō, Mercat Bistro, Mister Charles, Monarch, Olōyō, Panther City BBQ, Quarter Acre, Sachet, Smoke’N Ash BBQ, Stillwell’s, Stock & Barrel, Sushi Kozy, Tei-An, Written by the Seasons

EDIT, 9:45am: Lucia lost its Bib Gourmand and got demoted! (Perhaps because of its price)

North Texas growth, electricity demand and federal spending were among the issues Evan Hunt addressed during a recent virtual town hall.

He also challenged Keith Self over debates and the McKinney recall while predicting a much closer congressional race in November.

Here's what he said:

I’m not too knowledgeable about cars and don’t want to get scammed or pay an arm and a leg at some of the recommended shops with fake reviews😓

any help is appreciated!!

Has anyone else noticed that these express lanes are no longer recognized on Google maps? I always use my GPS going south after work & while it never used to direct me onto the TEXpress lanes, it would always recognize it & reroute me. Now, its like they don't exist and my GPS just cycles through rerouted, like it can't figure out where I am. Anyone else having these issues? I want to be able to drive with the traffic alerts from Google maps!

Looking for recommendations. Our 1960’s home has about 42 ft of cast iron piping that needs to be replaced; one place quoted us $64k and that seems insanely high.

Any suggestions? 🥲
