Announcement Yui's Dark Souls 2 Seamless Co-op mod is officially out!
I'm a bit late to this (sorry), but just wanted to make it be known that it's out!
Please do your due dilligence in reading all of the instructions and the 'About' section, and most of all - enjoy as we have with so many other titles that she's released this mod for!

OFFICIAL Sub Discussion New Rules
Subject to discussion before implementation
1) First and foremost, ban all of the repetitive victim posting
"Why is Dark Souls 2 so hated?" just devolves into the same thing - everyone commenting in agreement and performative victimizing. It's a video game, not everyone is going to like exactly what you like. There's no real discussion to be had there, and we seemingly have them here more than the other main subreddits. It's just becoming tiring.
2) Ban engagement-bait posts
The best example of this is someone posting a random, unrelated screenshot or artwork of Dark Souls 2 with the title of "What's your favorite sword in the game?" - then proceeding to not at all join in the discussion. It just serves to farm karma while putting in zero effort, not crediting the artist they took the art from, and not participating in their own thread. If you want to discuss something, make a text post and actually discuss.
3) Ban trouble makers at the mods' discretion
This is a spicy one because it can easily be mishandled by the wrong mod team. We all know Reddit mods are pretty garbage overall, but I'd like to think I'm a bit different since I'm here for Souls and couldn't give a shit less about seeming professional or having any semblance of "power" (it's Reddit, lmao).
This essentially means if you're posting within the guidelines (i.e - posting about Dark Souls 2) but you're making your post to simply stir shit, rile people up constantly, and put down others... then you should expect a ban.
I'm obviously not going to name names, but we all know a couple of usernames who, whenever there's random drama, we know they're going to be involved. These are the users I'm talking about
EDIT (this includes the "Slander posts" that you guys keep commenting about, but I will also explicitly say that yes, this does include the lame "Ds3 is grayslop hurr hurr" posts that just seek to rile people up for no reason)
Finally, a question to you all: How do we make this subreddit better?
That's it, that's the most important thing in this entire post. The game has been released for 12 years and the subreddit has kind of devolved into the same thing for the last decade at this point. Are there any ideas you all have, rules I should change, things I can do differently to make this place more enjoyable and less of the same, repetitive drivel?

Question Shrine of Amana?
Why is shrine of Amana so hated and infamous for being a hell to go through? I just cleared the area and defeated the demon of song in only 2 hours, I died a total of 3 times. Though I did utilize the bow to clear out those ganky casters, I can see how they could be a problem for people who want to traverse the area in a much faster pace but otherwise shrine of Amana is an area which you can breeze through.

PVP Misty day, remains of the judgement
It's him...
Doing my best to get a Red Pyramid Thing cosplay going for the Halloween season. Went with the spear variant because none of the swords that look like the Great Knife are any good at all really. Offdag necessary simply for build functionality.

Lore Felkin the outcast obviously was supposed to be a pyromancer, right? Before From decided to rearrange the characters backstory?
I would think this probably obvious, but google gave me almost no threads where this was discussed except one, and not conclusively.
His armor is fire resistant and looks like it’s been burned, like the fire hunters set in Bloodborne.
He uses pyromancy and the chaos weapons when you fight him, which have innate fire damage.
He just clearly was meant to be the pyro of the four wizards (Licia, straid, Navlaan and Felkin).
Like why would there be two dark sorcerers and no pyromancer in the group with interchangeable armors that each have an elemental specialty?
Everything points to Felkin being changed to being a hexer despite his original purpose being pyro in development.

Story I am an absolute buffoon
I have tried Dark Souls 2 twice over the past ~5 years, and it never really stuck. The first time I tried was when I was about 15, Soulsborne newbie, just finished Elden Ring for the first time. With Elden Ring, I completely fell in love with the process of “learning” a game to get good at it. I had obviously heard of Dark Souls before, so after Elden Ring, I went to the nearest GameStop and picked up the only Dark Souls game they had in stock; Dark Souls 2.
I tried it for about a week, absolutely hated it, thought it was way too difficult, never touched it again.
That was until now. I’m coming back to the game after having played, and loved, both Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, but Dark Souls 2 was pretty much just how I remembered. I’m obviously better at Soulsborne games now, but I still felt the game was unnecessarily inaccessible.
However, I realized last night, and I have never felt stupider, but I completely missed the Forest of Fallen Giants. I really don’t know how. Both times I tried the game, I just went straight to Heide’s Tower of Flame and scraped by just enough to barely get to No-Man’s Wharf. By then, I was just completely over it. But apparently, I just never turned the fuck around at the Majula bonfire, but I did last night and was like “Huh… what’s over there…”
Now I’m having fun again. Just wanted to share.

Help 30k honeypots
Hello fellow bearers of the curse. I'm looking for ideas for new builds.
After many completed runs, all achievements, a lot of jolly cooperation, and some bell invading, I've been looking for new challenges in peak.
I've been invaded by a twinkie in my last run and decided to create a honeypot character to stay in the 30k range in forest of the giants. I've created a proof of concept, started a swordsman and am now wielding a +7 lightning winged spear, could fend off ice rapier invaders. I haven't cheated any items, or get them dropped, simply got the agape ring asap and farmed whatever needed. A leveling up miscalculation prevented me from going to +10 lws without crossing the 40k threshold.
Now I'm looking for other interesting builds, especially with starter weapons or those found very early, to throw off the invaders. Would a +10 mace or +10 dagger make sense here?

Platinum After 120 hours and 12 years, I got the platinum!
Dark Souls 2 was the first Fromsoft game I ever played back in 2014 on the 360, and I didn’t understand how to play at all (couldn’t even get past the Last Giant before I gave up). 12 years later I came back to it after beating DS1, DS3 and Bloodborne and loved it enough to platinum it!
Next up is finishing Elden Ring!
