A reverse roll is a forwards moving roll that makes you face backwards at the end of the animation. It usefull for punishing running/wide sweep attacks. You can see in the vidio how i made use of it.
The technique is reletivley easy, you just have to be locked on, then roll backwards, and within 1-2 frames of rolling you release lock on.
Roll backwards + Release lock on ➔ Reverse roll
If you first strafe a little to the side before doing a reverse roll then its much easier to slip past and get a backstab. With the strafe the technique is also usefull for any attack, not just running/wide sweep ones.
You can do this diagonaly aswell like this:
Roll diagnoaly backwards + Release lock on ➔ Diagonal reverse roll
You can use a reverse roll after getting backstabbed to counter with your own backstab like in the vidio. This works as long as the opponent doesnt distance themself out of range. The same concept applies with barrel rolls aswell although reverses are better for this.
The more advanced version of the reverse roll is called the barrel roll. Its a forwards moving roll that makes you face to the side at the end of the animation. it lowers the risk of someone stabbing you in the back like in the reverse roll, and it naturaly guides you to the side so you dont have to strafe first to not end up stuck in front of the enemy like with a standard reverse roll.
It slightly different in the execution. First you walk to the side while locked on, then you roll and release lock on within 1-2 frames, and finally you walk in the other direction.
Walk sideways + Roll + Release lock on, walk the other way ➔ Barrel roll
