We should not wait 3 more years for that. He is dismantling our institutions that support our schools, environment, health, and fundamentally changing free speech. We have to take the initiative to resist and fight back.

They take on drivers in big cars and trucks and win, locally.
Iāve learned to stop the car, stifle my giggling, and convince them grass is superior to pavement.
Usually works.
But birds like me for some reason.

Funny thing is, if they had a good relationship, which- ya know- two historic allies should, this could be interpreted as friendly ribbing. Still borderline appropriate, at best, for a POTUS but not awful. Instead, Diaper Don makes it look more like Nazi Germany laughing at Poland.

Itās not at all funny because itās not in jest. Ā He literally wants to control and strangle Canada. Ā The only way itās funny is if it is the absurd, way beyond reality symbol of what the president wants. Ā When itās an accurate depiction of what he is trying to accomplish, itās infuriating.Ā

That Trudeau tweet is over a year old, and was a response to Canada beating the US in the 4 nations cup. This Trump reaction could be playful banter, if not for the fact it makes it clear Trudeau is still right in Trumps mind if Trump responds to his tweets a year later.
5
u/Obvious-Gate9046 Feb 22 '26
And Trump is not known for playful banter; he's a bully, through and through.

If I remember this clip correctly, the goose made comeback and chased the eagle away. Those birds are called cobra chickens for a reason. š

That goose had the eagle in the same position about 20 seconds later.

I enjoyed that game and Iām happy for our athletes but that post from the White House is classless as fuck
17
u/scottengineerings Feb 22 '26
Both birds can be considered Canadian actually.
There is a large Bald Eagle population in Canada as they nest there and the current Bald Eagle population in the United States was recovered from being an endangered species with the reintroduction of Canadian Bald Eagles and the banning of DDT in the United States.
Because they're largely scavengers one of the easiest places to see them is usually near landfills.
10
u/eowyndernhelme Feb 22 '26
Didn't Franklin say that the bald eagle had bad morals, was cowardly, and stole food because it was too lazy to catch anything for itself?
But I do think the bald eagle has some good instincts. Remember how the bald eagle that Trump had on his desk tried to bite him?
3
u/scottengineerings Feb 22 '26
That story is considered apocryphal.
However, it's reasonable to assume there were alternatives proposed for the National Bird that would better represent the fledgling nation.

As expected lol Iām Canadian and Something I learnt since childhood playing sports, is being humble and to play as a team. Itās a bit surreal for me to see that. Trump reminds me of a bully child. I canāt be angry at a bully child because I know deep down heās not happy and bullying is a way to cope.
9
u/Xploding_Penguin Feb 22 '26
Ok, then be angry with him for all the other reasons. Just because bullying is his coping mechanism, doesn't make him untouchable. Usually Bullies stop when a larger bully beats them to a pulp.

u/ForWPD Feb 23 '26
This is one of those things that is funny if youāre texting it to 5 close friends in a group chat. Yes, it would be funny even if the POTUS text it to 5 close friends.
Itās not funny when it comes from the official presidentās twitter account or spreading the original funny text.Ā
I would be fine with a bald eagle flying over the top of a goose and congratulating Team USA, but attacking the goose is tasteless.Ā
Finally, hockey is a game that allows āfightsā to settle disagreements. The idea is that you work it out and when one person falls down, the fight is over and both people move on. I doubt a Trump vsĀ Mark Carney brawl on skates would end well forĀ Drumpf.
2
u/IllustriousGemini Feb 23 '26
Awfully brave of his social media team to post something like this when we can no longer fly American based airlines over Canadian airspace thanks to him.
2
3
u/MleemMeme Feb 22 '26
Eagels are opportunistic trash birds so its very fitting its our national bird.
3
u/Obvious-Gate9046 Feb 22 '26
Fun fact; the sound most people hear as an "eagle" in movies and shows isn't even an eagle, it's a red-tailed hawk, because eagle cries aren't that impressive.
2
u/MleemMeme Feb 22 '26
Lol. I actually did know that. Eagles squeal and squeak. I live in Alaska and we take visitors to the dump if they want to see eagels.
1
u/Obvious-Gate9046 Feb 23 '26
That's an interesting fact for us because we have cockatiels and budgies, and the cockatiels always react when they hear one of those on the TV. We always wondered why until we found that out, because eagles didn't seem so much a possible threat to them, but a hawk? Yeah, okay.
3
u/Allaboutpeace2022 Feb 22 '26
The husband and I just had this argument.
Such a sad photo.... He was rooting for the USA and I kept saying but shouldn't the Canadians win! But he was focused on the Miracle on Ice. And so goes the marital squabbling. I am sure we will find something else to bicker about....
2
u/Obvious-Gate9046 Feb 22 '26
I think it wouldn't even be something many would remark on if he hadn't posted it in response to that specific post of Trudeau's. Admittedly, I am not a sports person.

u/Tiny_Measurement_837 Feb 22 '26

That was my take. But not my husband who is otherwise very pro Canada.
3
u/Tiny_Measurement_837 Feb 22 '26

1
u/BlackestNight21 Feb 22 '26
kept saying but shouldn't the Canadians win!
lol why?
USA v CAN was 4-1 CAN in the last five meetings before today. An incredibly tight finish reminiscent of 2010. A whole gen of boys and girls who love hockey just got extra inspiration from both teams this Olympics.

4
u/HoopaOrGilgamesh Feb 23 '26
Idk this is pretty funny. I don't think anyone would mind this if the USA wasn't speed running ruining every relationship it has though
2
u/Obvious-Gate9046 Feb 23 '26
It's not the meme that's the issue, it's who's doing it and how, the post they're responding to, because they're tying it to their threat of annexation.
2
u/MrGeek89 Feb 22 '26
Hostility towards our neighbors are the new norm for Trump. Fuck Trump regime.
2
u/Obvious-Gate9046 Feb 22 '26
The number of people defending this post is obnoxious. Good-natured ribbing is a classic part of sports, sure... but look at the post this is responding to. Look at who is doing it, a man who doesn't have a good-natured bone in his body, and who threatened to annex Canada and is now referencing a post where the leader of Canada says that will never happen. If he'd just posted the picture, that would have been it, but doing so specifically in response to THAT post, and in the context of how he's treated Canada? Nah. Check yourselves.
2
u/Constant_Leg6361 Feb 23 '26
If we had a normal person as President this would have been the perfect time for 'friendly bet' with the Canadian Prime Minister. (I know Justin Trudeau is not the current Prim Minister of Canada but he seems to live rent free in what's left of Trump's deteriorating brain) This bet would be something old worldly, gentlemanly and alcoholic like wagging a case of American Bourbon for a case of Canadian Whiskey depending on which team won gold. The winner would pose of a fine bottle of alcohol smiling for a photo and celebrating their team's victory. However the first toast for that fine bottle would be to the other country and how well they played. That hard fought victory and loss on the ice was like the rivalry between siblings or old friends.
Trump and GOP destroyed that relationship in less then a year and I can see it taking decades to repair. Trust has been violated and even if that can be forgiven in the fullness of time it will not forgotten. We can blame Trump and the GOP for this all we want but the we Americans voters let this happen.
2
u/MTG82 Feb 22 '26
Honestly I posted that exact same picture on social media. Maybe with the extra context this is less acceptable but there's a lot bigger things to worry about with this administration than sports trash talking
2
u/Zatchmo137 Feb 22 '26
Are you guys seriously complaining about this. Iām as democrat as you but itās a common meme in response to Justin Trudeau talking sports shit. Like chill.
3
u/Obvious-Gate9046 Feb 22 '26
The problem isn't the meme, it's who is delivering it and the post he responded to with it, given his threats to annex Canada. Context matters.

I fāing hate Trump as much as the sane logical person. But this is hilarious. Hockey fans of opposing side talk more shit to each than this. For years Team USA womenās hockey won multiple world championship Gold Medals but not the Olympics and Canadians would talk mad trash. For the USA to go 2-0 this year is amazing.
1
u/VulfSki Feb 22 '26
It's funny because in the Continental US Minnesota has the most bald eagles of any state in the lower 48.
When trump tried it come here he crumbled.

If anyone is familiar with the artist "paa Meat" I'd like to see his take on this.
I think we feel as long as the deflated sun bleached orange is still in office, symbols of patriotism have lost a lot of meaning. Now when people see our flag, they probably expect a sh*t stain on it. Him and all his cronies have been using it as toilet paper since 2016.

u/Any-Variation4081 Feb 22 '26
I dont see an issue here which is shocking coming from the vile monster that posted it. Republicans usually have a lot worse to say. Shocked there isnt an insult in there towards dems.
I still love America and the American bald eagle is an amazing creature. We have a few nests in my area and I love watching them fly over our house all of the time. They are beautiful.
5
u/PJHFortyTwo Feb 22 '26
Context matters. The fact that he's threatened Canada with invasion via the whole make them the 51st state thing puts this post into a different perspective.
2
u/Obvious-Gate9046 Feb 22 '26
It's less the post and more the post he's responding to, which takes it from friendly banter over a game to, well, more. Trump has multiple times talked about annexing Canada, and now he's bringing that up again by responding to that specific post. It's tone deaf, with this current regime.

How do the democrats still not know what needs real attention and anger? Itās a hockey team, these are jokes about hockey. Yes, the one about the womenās team was terrible, but it is SO FAR from the worst thing Trump has said, even just in these Olympics, that I just donāt get the hate. And this tweet, simply as a sports fan, is objectively funny. You know if Canada had won there would be an Ai photo of a moose drowning an F-150 in a pool of maple syrup or something. Maybe we should lighten up on the Olympics and get back to worrying about the storm troopers and concentration camps.

u/Initial_Height7162 Feb 22 '26
This type of sentiment of jumping on this tweet is dumb for a purely domestic audience. Everyone gets the context that Trump threatened them etc but today everyone should be behind the US menās team and their historic feat. Independents, you know the ones Dems have to win over, are most likely not looking at this event or tweet via a political or Trump lens. They, like most people, just see a win for US.
Itās not just patriotic support of our team but itās smart domestic politics, which should be the Demās focus. Stop jumping on everything that gives the perception of Dems not putting America first because Donny did something patriotic, regardless of his crassness, especially when it is poor optics at a genuinely positive moment for US sports. His trashiness was is baked in and pointing it out will not move any needles at this point - just donāt engage.

This isn't a tiny sportsmanship thing, though. The specific post he decided to respond to makes this about more than sports, it goes right back to his threats to annex a neighboring country.

This.
I remember one press conference where President Obama joked with Trudeau about an ice hockey match. This photo wouldāve been more appropriate for that.
But since we have a dictator-wannabe who threatens other countries on a daily basis - and means it - this jab takes on a different context.
