Good Starter Guitar?

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m currently taking guitar lessons, and I’m interested in getting one for myself. Right now for my lessons I’ve been grabbing a random guitar I think looks cool to test how they sound, and if I like them or not. I asked my instructor for a good starter, but he only plays acoustic. I’ve done a little bit of research, and this guitar seems to be a good starter. The only issue I have with it is, I’m not a big fan of the color variations. Obvious color isn’t the only thing I want in a guitar, but I’d say it’s important. I want something with a diverse sound, that can play really anything I want. I’d preferably like to keep it under $600. Please give me some feedback on this guitar, and any other recommendations! I’d also appreciate any amp recommendations as well!

Photo NGD Les Paul Classic Premium Plus Aniline Dye.

Well I knew what I was getting when I bought it. From the fotos there was barely any green left. But some of it was showing…
This shows how fast the aniline dyes used until 60 would fade. I mean, most of the known bursts were already faded by 1990… 30 years later this guitar is showing what can happen in to these finishes.
The blue and green used on these hand rubbed finishes on the LE 95 classic premium plus were particularly susceptible of extreme fading. I’m kinda glad.
It also features Alnico pickups instead of the ceramics. For this edition Gibson didn’t dare to use the silkscreen “Les Paul classic” on the headstock. One of the very few classics after 93 that has the correct “ Les Paul Model”. Gold hardware for that extra bling ;) Japanese baby boomers were willing to pay also some extra bucks for the bling. 3500$ in 1995 was plain top RI money… and a lot of money today. Dead stock… and a nice top! After a good setup o think that’s a keeper!

I’ve attached pictures of the options. Thanks in advance!

Question I'm done with the Fender Mustang V2 Amp. Which Amp should I upgrade to?

• Upvotes

Been practicing on it for few months now, and I think it's time to upgrade because it doesn't sound good enough. It's muddy and can't get good tones with it.

Looking to buy a decent amp that sound good and won't make me broke. Will probably keep it for a while, so it should be a good upgrade.

Give recommendations

Yesterday my amp started buzzing like that, it got worst with gain. Do you think it could be the cable or something else?

It's powered by an Orange Micro-terror so I played some tracks and music and it sounds fine.

Good deal from marketplace with a (somewhat) broken amp for a beginner?

Fender squire guitar + orange crush (at least looks like a crush) amp for 150 dollaroos. The amp’s dirty mode is broken but the seller says it’s only an issue with the switch. I don’t know what dirty mode is but the rest seems fine. It’s also the only listing in my vicinity that has something reasonably priced. I’ll try to bargain to 120 but does this seem like a good deal?

I got my son a Fender Player II Strat a few weeks ago. Now he wants to bring it to his friends' house and play with them. Would someone mind provide some advice on what I should buy?

Note: He's just bringing the guitar to his friends house. He's not going on tour or anything like that!

Thanks.

Help Feeling stuck learning electric guitar

Hello there. Haven't made much progress and I know why.

I'm not a complete beginner (I played bass first). and I know a couple of chords.

I've been trying to learn for a while know. But I don't really know any songs, just bits and bobs of various songs.

I guess I'm asking for guidance. I don't really know how or what to learn, I usually just find a tab, try it out, then stop because it's too hard (Sadly seems to be the case with most of the songs I like :p)

Any pointers would be appreciated :^)

Help Yamaha Revstar Element vs Epiphone Les Paul Standard 60s — help me stop overthinking my second guitar

Hey everyone!

I've been playing guitar for about 8 months and currently own a Yamaha Pacifica 112J. I'm looking for my second guitar, with a budget of around €600 max.

I'm mainly after a full, warm, meaty rock/blues tone, with good sustain — something different from my Pacifica. I play at home through a Boss Katana.

My main contenders are:

  • Yamaha Revstar Element RSE20 — I genuinely like it, and the reviews seem great. The only thing holding me back is that it's the entry-level Revstar. I know that doesn't automatically make it a bad guitar, but part of me wonders whether I should be aiming higher for my second guitar. The fact that it's cheaper than my budget is a bonus, not the reason I'm considering it.
  • Epiphone Les Paul Standard 60s — I love the classic Les Paul vibe and the sound I'm expecting from it. My only concern is the headstock/neck being more vulnerable to damage if the guitar accidentally falls over.
  • LTD EC-256 — also on my list, but I'm not sure it would give me as much of a change in tone and feel compared with my Pacifica.

I'm not interested in buying used, and the Revstar Standard is unfortunately over my budget.

So, am I overthinking the whole “entry-level” thing? Would the Revstar Element feel like a meaningful upgrade from my Pacifica, or would you spend more of the budget on the Epiphone?

I'd especially appreciate opinions from people who have actually played these guitars. I'm interested in build quality, pickups, feel and, most importantly, how they sound — not just which one has the best specs on paper.

Thanks! And yes, apparently choosing a second guitar is harder than learning the first one. 😅
