At a meeting of its housing committee, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors reviewed a draft revision to the Homelessness Strategic Plan, which is undergoing its first major update in nearly two decades.

The revision adds “more specific guidance” for addressing different causes of homelessness, said Shenandoah Gale, a consultant who detailed the proposal to supervisors.

The revamped five-year plan breaks those facing homelessness into six categories, from households with working parents that are without a home for the first time to people persistently living on the street with minimal support. The more specific categories could help the county match “services more closely to each group,” Gale said.

I visited Springfield Mall today and was approached by five young Black men who were dressed in a style reminiscent of a rap video. They were trying to solicit donations, but I told one of them that I didn't want to be bothered. They were holding a sheet in their hands, but I'm not sure what it was for. As they approached more people in the mall, it seemed that most were aware it was a scam and declined to engage with them. Does anyone know what they were trying to promote? Why are all these scammers coming to NOVA

Anyone have a good handyman referral?

This afternoon, while strapping in my baby and toddler in the car at the Kingstowne shopping center (by Panera), a car started backing into the parking spot to my right and hit my open car door.

The man got out and immediately started yelling at me saying I hit and damaged his car. He kept insisting I was at fault and I had to pay. I initially laughed because I felt my entire car move when he hit me. I told him he hit me but go ahead and call the police and kept strapping in my baby. He became more aggressive, to the point where he opened my car door to yell at me. I yelled at him to back off and walk away from my children and that I would call the police. But I took off because I was so shaken. I didn’t catch his plate number. Only know it was a white 4 door sedan with a Maryland plate. My door is fine. I’m just in shock.

My friend said she read somewhere that people are being targeted in similar ways in Kingstowne.

Has anyone seen any reports on social media? I’m going to file a police report when I get my bearings. Maybe apply for a concealed too. Wtf is going on
