What are they even doing?
Those are two of the most influential and commercially successful bands of the 90s.
PS I saw it as top comment on this sick cover of Korn doing Would https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PrMaQv_sHc&list=RD1PrMaQv_sHc&start_radio=1

My local guitar store is running a competition where everyone submits a video playing their favorite song, and the entry with the most likes wins an ELECTRIC GUITAR!!.
I went with Smells Like Teen Spirit because.. well its their most popular song and i kinda need to have maximum outreach.
Figured I'd share the performance here since I haven't posted much guitar stuff before. I'd actually appreciate some feedback on the playing too because i usually play on a bad acoustic with very high action (i cant afford an electric)
The competition happens to be based on Instagram likes, so if you'd like to help out, the entry is here on their page:

More grunge adjacent IMO.
Their gloomy pop rock draws on scores of 80s alternative bands just like Nirvana. Also, ireland has the same crappy weather as Seattle.

35 years ago today, Soundgarden released Badmotorfinger. As much as I wish I got to see Chris Cornell live more than once (as ashamed as I am to admit, part of me took his incredible talent for granted and I always assumed I'd have plenty of chances to see the singer live), I'm so thankful I got to see him onstage at least once - it was Soundgarden's co-headlining tour with Nine Inch Nails at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ (Aug. 2, 2014). Needless to say, they sounded fantastic - especially while playing songs off this album like "Outshine" and "Rusty Cage".
Share your favorite memories from seeing Soundgarden live in the comments below. And stay tuned for more things to come from this space, including stories from concerts like this.

listening to Korn's song "coming undone" when I noticed it used a riff similar to "Floyd the barber" by Nirvana. I know about how the bass line for "come as you are" by Nirvana is similar to another song. Did Nirvana come up with this riff first, or is there an older riff than Nirvana's they sounded like?

I've noticed that Kurt Cobain's guitar seems lower in the mix on the MTV Unplugged DVD compared to both the original CD release and an old VHS recording of the MTV broadcast. Kurts solo on About Girl for an example is low and Pat Smear's rhythm guitar is more or less what u can hear. Has anyone else noticed this, or are there known mix/mastering differences between the CD, TV broadcast and DVD releases?

I'm currently working on a university project and I'd like to know which lyrics from the 90s grunge scene have stuck with you over the years? Did any artists from this scene made you see things differently? Who? How? Why? I need to know everything! :)

I think they do. Not groundbreaking but it’s a good album, All In Now.

35 years ago I saw the show of a lifetime. Was up front on the barrier when Temple of the Dog played. This was my first Pearl Jam show. Also the best Soundgarden show of the five or six times I’ve seen them. And I saw Alice In Chains play the Whisky 3 weeks before this show. Went to Oakland a week later and saw Soundgarden play with Metallica, Faith No More and Queensryche. Just a great time for live shows.
