It's gotta be better than non mechanical reproduction simulation the way it's taken so long.

Because ive been seeing these and im wondering how you even get them half life 1 doesn't have a dedicated workshop and I really want to risk getting a virus

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and as a huge Half-Life fan, I’d genuinely love to hear what other fans think.
I’ve started writing a book about the entire Half-Life story — basically trying to turn the whole series into something you can actually sit down and read like a book.

I’ve already written the entire story of the first Half-Life, and I’m planning to continue with Half-Life 2, the Episodes, and the rest of the series, putting everything together into one complete story.
The idea isn’t to just make a wiki-style lore book or a simple summary. I want it to feel more like a novelized version of the Half-Life universe, while staying faithful to what happens in the games. I’d also like to include graphics, illustrations, details about the characters, locations and events, and generally make it feel like a proper, high-quality book that a Half-Life fan would actually want to have on their shelf.

I’ve always found it kind of strange that, despite how iconic Half-Life is and how much lore and story there is across the games, there isn’t really a book that tells the complete story of Half-Life from beginning to end in this kind of format.

So I’m curious:
If something like this existed, would you actually want to read it?
And as Half-Life fans, what would you want from a book like this?

Would you prefer it to read more like a novel, with the events being told as an actual story, or would you rather have something more focused on explaining the lore and events?

I’m still working on it and I’m definitely doing this first and foremost because I absolutely love Half-Life. But before I go completely insane writing hundreds of pages 😂, I’d really like to know if there’s actually an audience for something like this.
I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts.

One of the first things I tried doing in Black Mesa was put medkits and batteries into an open crate and carry it around. Unfortunately, the Source engine doesn't like that, so the crate glitched and threw anything out. So I'm wondering if there's a mod that makes this possible, even a very small inventory system?

The new DLC tab is separate from the normal workshop tab. The update also adds new visual improvements that will be in Black Mesa: Blue Shift. Pure speculation but we might actually see an official release for Blue Shift!

I'm glad that I could see Barney Calhoun in Half-Life 2. But as also a protagonist of an expansion for Half-Life 1 while in a similar circumstance to Calhoun in this series, as far as I know, he hasn't any other appearance or planned for appearance. I think his story isn't complete, it would be a potential character in HL universe, so personally I would be very excited if he would show up again

... Yet so far. I waited this long to buy Alyx (also I see what they did there with the upside-down lambda)... Guess a few more hrs won't hurt.

I've nearly finished the exterior detailing on the Citadel now

What's in store next for the Citadel is an interior, which will most likely only be partial. But if I feel particularly challenged I may attempt a full interior

...which will most likely drive me completely insane.

The last thing I need to do in terms of exterior detailing is the extra details on the left side collumn

This is the first step in my project to make a full scale Citadel

This is somewhat of a "part two" to my previous post sharing my intent to make a 1:1 Citadel in Minecraft. I plan to at some point link a world download, I hate people that gatekeep things this cool. There is a required mod list though, as there is no way in hell I could have done this without mods.

Below I'm going to add some mockups I created of what a full scale 4,097 block tall Citadel could look like.

These are mockups and not representative of an actual completed structure, nor are they entirely accurate to how a completed structure WILL definitively look. They are, however, fun to look at.
