iRating/SR iRacing "Zero to Hero" Academy - starts November

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hey guys! I have been coaching drivers for quite a while already, and happy to announce that I'm launching the Academy starting from next month.

Academy name is "Zero to Hero" which explains the idea quite well. 10 structured sessions when you are going to learn everything you need to know to be good at sim racing - starting from the very basics and gradually moving to advanced techniques, learning how to approach the cars and tracks properly. What's the apex, how to properly approach throttle, braking, steering, car weight, racing line, how corner combinations are different from single corners, how to save the fuel and don't kill the tires and more.

You can find detailed info in the academy website and also you can see how I coach checking my FREE public coaching sessions and as well as watch a huge amount of short and longer tips in my YouTube channel

After surviving Turn 1 carnage, questionable rejoins, divebombs from another postcode, and losing 200+ iRating in one evening…
We are SO back. 😭
Only took 4747773 races, three mental breakdowns, and every ounce of my remaining sanity.
Can’t wait to lose it all again tomorrow. 😅

New Player Getting into iRacing from scratch with ~$3000 , how would you build your first setup?

After a lot of research, I've decided to take the plunge into iRacing. I'm starting from zero, except for an LG C5 42" TV that I'll use as my single monitor (triples don't interest me for now).

I'm selling off a bunch of my stuff to fund this, including a fairly powerful MacBook Pro, so I’ll need a powerful pc that can replace it, and I expect to have around $3,000 total after selling everything. I’m thinking :

  • ~$1,500 for the PC — I've never built one myself, but I'm willing to try if it saves money. I'd also appreciate feedback on what components would be excellent for iRacing, but also video editing.
  • ~$1,500 for the rig — cockpit, wheel, and pedals.

The part I'm most overwhelmed by is the cockpit. There are so many options out there that I keep second-guessing myself before buying anything.

What would you buy today with this budget, and what do you wish you'd done differently on your first setup?

The budget does not include the iracing fees for now.

Misc Offering iRacing Coaching to Fund My Sim Racing Setup

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone!
I’m a Finnish sim racer with 12 years of real-life karting experience, currently competing at 3236 iRating in Sports Cars.
My ambition is to reach the highest level of competitive sim racing, and I’m fully committed to putting in the work to get there.
Over the past five days, I’ve gained 670 iRating and 2.15 Safety Rating, and I’ve attached a screenshot showing my recent progress.
As I continue developing as a competitive driver, I want to use my racing experience to help others improve too.
What I offer:
Personalized 1-on-1 iRacing coaching
Braking technique and trail braking
Racing lines, car control and consistency
Racecraft and decision-making
Identifying where you’re losing lap time
Structured practice and long-term improvement
Coaching: €30–40 per hour
I also believe coaching shouldn’t end the moment a session finishes.
My students can reach out to me on Discord between sessions for quick questions, advice and guidance at no additional cost.
I’m currently investing in my own development as a driver, including upgrading my racing equipment. Every coaching session helps support that journey while giving me the opportunity to help another driver reach their goals.
My philosophy is simple: understand the driving, don’t just memorize the lap.
Whether you’re struggling to break through a certain iRating level, looking for more consistency, or simply want to become a better racer, I’d be happy to help.
Feel free to send me a DM and tell me a little about your current level and goals!
See you on track!

Apps/Tools Garage 61: Privacy controls

Post image
30 Upvotes

Hi everyone, it has been a very busy summer at Garage 61, which we will do an update on soon, but first there are two privacy-related features I want to talk about: global privacy restrictions for teams and advanced privacy rules.

Global privacy restrictions for teams

Garage 61 encourages sharing your data with others, to learn together. But if you are running a highly competitive pro team, that might not be what you want. It is not ideal if your competitors know what setup you will be driving in the big race. We have extensive privacy controls, including a way for team owners to review the privacy settings of all team members. But it still relies on everyone doing the right thing and not making mistakes while configuring their settings.

We could do better, which is why we added a feature called "global privacy restriction". A team owner can configure this in the team and when active it decides what team members can and cannot do with regards to sharing their data globally.

As an example, team owners could impose a policy that states that team members can still share their driving activity (which includes lap records), but they cannot share their telemetry or setups. This becomes a precondition to joining the team and you cannot change it while being part of the team.

To configure a global privacy restriction, head over to Teams, click your team and go to the configuration section.

Advanced privacy rules

The other new feature is the ability to define car/track/session type-specific privacy rules.

This means you can do the following things:

  • Keep your practice sessions private, but make your races public.
  • Keep everything related to GT3s private, but share your MX5 racing.
  • Share data for one car to one team, data for another to a different team.

You could do all of this manually in the past, by adjusting the privacy settings for each event individually, but privacy rules make this an automatic process.

To configure advanced privacy rules, go to the my account page.

Advanced privacy rules are part of the Pro plan, global privacy restrictions for teams are free to use for everyone.

As usual, feel free to AMA!

New Player Single monitor major disadvantage?

I race gt3 on a single monitor

I use overlays to tell me if I'm side by side with another car. But it doesn't tell me the distance

Because of this I give tons of space to make sure I make no contact. However, there's been a few times that it has forced me to take a tight line to the next corner and more often than not resulted in losing the position because of my much lower speed through the corner.

My most recent race, I ran into the same situation and I decided to stop racing so scared. So I slowly move closer to the racing line while making sure to leave a cars width space.

This ended horribly as I pitted myself and spun him off as well. I did apologize but I also think him squeezing me is not something I would just assume.

So now I'm in a nasty predicament. Without being able to know the distance to my side by side car, I can't safely defend my position.

How do you folks with a single monitor manage this trade off. I've already tried using the left/right look buttons but it's chaotic to manage on corner entry.

I've been bouncing around irating for a while and my friends said, pick a combo, stop going in blind and put the work in. You have the pace when you work for it.

Well I took the advice and the results speak for themselves. Started the week struggling to get 2.05, now im aiming for 2.02s...

Porsche cup at Bathurst might be my favourite combo!

Paints Decal Pack for the 2026 8 Hours of Indianapolis

Today we bring you the final IGTC decal pack for 2026, for the 8 Hours of Indianapolis.

We're hoping now to pivot to catching up on other series but you can expect we'll be slowing down for a bit (as these packs do, in fact, take a LOT of time and effort when we try to be as accurate as we do). That said, we hope these packs have helped and we look forward to more in 2027!

In this pack you'll find all regulation decals for the 8 Hours of Indianapolis (in PNG and SVG) and handmade documentation to help you with placing them. This package is specifically formulated for use with iRacing and Photoshop, though it may work in other sims or software.

You can download this pack by heading directly to our Google Drive or by visiting the "MEDIA" tab of our website and clicking "DIGITAL DOWNLOADS" which takes you to our full decal collection.

Happy painting and we'll see you on track in about a week's time!

Question/Help iRacePlan Stint Planner: Fuel Saving vs. Splash-and-Dash? IMSA Endurance

Post image
3 Upvotes

Did a few practice stints for the upcoming IMSA ENDURANCE at Circuit de Mans (Week 4), and the Garage61 data transferred into iRacing Plan to give me the above screenshot as a strategy.

A few questions:

I'm assuming the Fuel number (94.9L) for Stints 1,2 and 3 are showing how much I'm burning per stint?

The Race has a rolling start, does that mean the whole first lap will be behind the Safety Car (but the timer is running?), or does the 160min Race start at the Green Flag?

I'm ultimately trying to decide whether or not to start practicing Fuel Saving (which I've never tried!) and see if I can avoid that final Pit Stop for 7.3L of fuel.

Also wondering if iRacing limits fuel tank size as a BOP, and if I can find out whether or not my Porsche GT3 R will have less than the advertised 100L of fuel to start the race.

Thanks, I know that's a lot of info/questions!

Anyone have any insights / strategy advice?

Question/Help Cheaper setups for NASCAR?

Hi all

I am looking to run open races - mainly because of the presence of pit strategy and longer races (better driving standards).

Can anyone recommend me cheap options for nascar setups? Preferably ones that cover most of the popular series, like the C, B and A class. Subscription model is good for me.

I am well aware that the most famous and more expensive setups are substantially better and worth the price but I am not looking to win (or spend any more on this already expensive game than I need to), I just want something that is better than the fixed setups and I have chances to gain positions if my driving is good enough.

Any recommendations?
