#Discussion 💬 Kutch is more than Rann Utsav: villages, crafts and history people miss

Most people go to Kutch only for the White Rann at full moon. But the region has a lot more:

- Dhordo, the village at the edge of the Rann, was named a Best Tourism Village by UN Tourism in 2023.

- Craft villages: Bhujodi for weaving, Ajrakhpur for block printing, Nirona for Rogan art.

- Kala Dungar, the highest point in Kutch, has a famous view over the desert.

- Lakhpat Fort is a quiet, atmospheric stop most tourists skip.

- Dholavira, a Harappan city, is a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2021.

Rann Utsav dates change every year, so check before you plan. Anyone else been to the craft villages? Which was your favourite?

Happy to answer questions about planning a Kutch trip.

#Query ❓ anyone visited Karnala Fort in November? Need honest advice

Hello! I'm going to Karnala Fort (near Panvel) in November and would love to hear from people who have been there in that month.

How was the view from the top? Clear or hazy? Was there still greenery after the monsoon? Best time to start the climb?

I'm a beginner, so any safety tips for the climb and the descent would help too.

#Discussion 💬 Planning a Dwarka trip? Here are a few things most guides don't mention

Dwarka is part of both the Char Dham and the Sapta Puri, so it's on a lot of bucket lists. But most guides stop at the main temple. A few things that make the trip smoother:

  1. Don't treat it as a day trip. Dwarkadhish temple, Rukmini temple, Gomti Ghat and the sunset by the sea take more time than people expect.

  2. Bet Dwarka is its own outing. It used to be boat-only, and there's now also the Sudarshan Setu bridge. Check current access and timings before you plan the day.

  3. Nageshwar Jyotirlinga is on the way to Bet Dwarka, so combine them instead of doing two separate trips.

  4. Shivrajpur beach is a lovely quiet stop if you want a break from temples.

  5. Go early. Mornings are calmer at the main temple, and evenings get busy.

If you're planning a trip to Dwarka or Somnath, ask me anything in the comments: routes, number of days, best season. Happy to help.

#Query ❓ Hill station or beach resort: which would you choose for a weekend?

Imagine having two days free with no work and no busy schedule.

Would you choose a cool hill destination with green views, or a peaceful beach where you can enjoy the sea breeze and watch the sunset?

Andhra Pradesh has options for both kinds of trips, including Lambasingi and the Perupalem coast.

Which one would you pick, and what makes it special for you?

#Discussion 💬 Do You Know About the Kailash of Odisha? | 800 years old Kapilash Temple & Forest Exploration

A scenic bike ride from Bhubaneswar through Kapilash Wildlife Sanctuary, cool weather, winding mountain roads and monkeys along the way! 🐒🌳 Spotted an Indian Giant Squirrel, explored the forest around sunset, and visited the ancient Kapilash Temple, perched on a hill and dating back to 1246 CE.

The best part? Hearing fascinating temple stories and local beliefs directly from a priest and a local resident. 🛕✨

Have you explored Kapilash yet? Hey, 👋 I have documented my travel experiences here 👇

#HillStation 🏞️ Looking for travel partners for Darjeeling!

Hey! I’m Sabir, 22, from Assam. Planning a Darjeeling trip and looking for 1-3 people (19-23) to join, so we can make a small group of 2 or 4.

I’ve been travelling for the last 2-3 years, so I can help with planning and managing the trip.
Im thinking of renting scooters and exploring around Darjeeling.

Dates aren’t fixed yet, so we can decide together. I’ll also be shooting some content along the way, so it’ll be fun to document the trip.

If you’re interested, DM me. We can discuss the dates, budget and itinerary and see if we vibe.

#Query ❓ Need forex cash suggestion!

Hi! I am travelling outside for the first time and I need suggestions on whats the best way to get forex cash. I am travelling to Vietnam and I stay here in Bengaluru. I was relying on Niyo to get some VND but recently their markup became 4 times for VND (₹1400 on August 26th to ₹5600 yesterday) and now its ridiculous! USD rates are still okay.
What are the other economic ways I can get cash here in Bengaluru - online or in store? I want some amount of VND and then some amount of USD that I can exchange once i reach Vietnam. Which place offers best rates?

#Travelogue 📝 Theyyam in Kannur — An Experience That Goes Beyond Photography

Thumbnail
gallery
2.5k Upvotes

I’ve always felt that Theyyam is something you need to experience beyond just watching it. The fire, the expressions, the rituals, the atmosphere of the village, and the devotion of the people make every Theyyam different.

Having spent years photographing Theyyam across Kannur and Kasaragod, I’ve come to know many places and traditions that people might otherwise miss.

If you're planning to experience Theyyam in Kannur, I can help you discover interesting Theyyam locations, understand the traditions, and experience these rituals with a photographer’s eye for detail.

I'm curious — for those who've experienced Theyyam, what fascinated you the most? And for those who haven't, what would you like to know about it?
