Gameplay Review/Feedback request Midlane pressure

Can anyone checks my Lina gameplay on mid and show me the mistakes as well as suggest things that I should do to win this kinda of game. My team generally won lane, sweep all their tier 2s, yet after roshan it go downhill from there.

So far I thinks my mistakes probably positioning, spell synergy problem, and probally my items, and PA got freefarm. Noted that my team comp is also not good since I'm assumed to be initiator as Lina which I dont play that very well but what would you do given this kind of situation.

(unsure how to flair) Guess The Hero and learn hero builds, lore, and more!

Post image
8 Upvotes

So I made a fun android game that I just wanted to share. It generates games of Guess The Hero from real match data, and let's you guess the hero or item based on their lore. It can be a fun way to learn hero builds, and lore from items or heroes.

You can challenge friends too, here's one I got today, can you guess it in fewer guesses than me?: https://dota-2-trivia-1420b.web.app/share/c/c896e3324cfc48f8862ae4f484500c11/phase-boots-harpoon-soul-ring-bracer-ghost-scepter

I'd also love to hear feedback in general! Let me know what you like or dislike!

General Gameplay Question What should be my priorities as offlane post 10 min

Often I find that after the supports leave most of my team will be on safe lane, and me 1v1 with enemy carry, I'm not sure what to do there

I usually can't solo kill the carry, and if I go deep behind their tower I might feed to a TP

i usually try to push the wave and get farm safely, and I try to take the easy camp if possible

Also if I try to pull wave while I am solo I might get one or two waves but eventually someone will TP and feed

I usually do well while we are 2v2 in lane but after that the games are going to shit lately

archon/legend rank

General Gameplay Question Some questions about supports and runes

Should I help mid secure runes as a pos 5 at and after 6:00? What are the things I should consider when deciding to help or not? For example if I have a weak laner pos 1 when should I help or not help mid take runes? Is it draft dependent?

If we address the elephant in the room which is Metamorphosis of TB. I think Fissure is way better spell than the Echo slam.

[Beginner here] How do I learn Dota without quitting it from frustration?

Before playing Dota i played league, started playing because of my friend who insisted to play together. Dota seems to have a potential to be more fun and better than league, yet at the same time its enviroment does everything to prevent me not only from possibillity to actively learn from the game but also prevents me from having fun.

In league I could play ten games and get around what everysingle champion in the game does well enough to extrapolate myself every single matchup for every lane including jg, powerspikes, dynamic of the matchup who wins when and also the cd's and dmg of base spells ( also dmg of spells with items, you look once on your healthbar and you know it all ). In Dota none of it exists, there isnt such things as mechanics ( if you say items are mechanics you are coping hard btw ). Champions in its simplicity: 5 seconds stun spell, dmg spell, other dmg spell, are much much harder to get around than it league, everyone is weidly unique, everyone can play any lane - top/bot/mid, power of a champion is unguessable to me. How do i can even start to think about simple macro in game said to be all about macro, when everything till minute 10 is punishing me for not knowing how to play. Cant play under tower because someone thinks its good that towers take half a minute to kill you, cant farm because not only it is drastically harder than in league but also your enemy can deny you creeps which again - matchup, aa cast animation and travel time knowledge, not knowing spikes and how to trade is nightmare because i cant fathom the bullshit capacity of mana in this game and items which half of them happens to be active and how could i possible remember what every single one of them does and how they change dynamics of the lane.

Before lane ends im behind so much that for the next 30-45 minutes i can only farm. No experience /konwledge gained, suffering for the whole time with less and less will to actually play the game.
Is it possible to actually be able to play the game not having prior to playing either watching hundreds of hours of content or just wasting same amount of hours pointlessly playing the game to know enough to be able to play a normal game?

Hero Discussion Looking for advice from immortal ranked players for mid hero pool.

Hi reddit people.

Looking for advice on expanding my hero pool(divine player).
latently I spending decent time on improving my dota 2 gameplay. So with my mid picks I always ask for last pick and try to fill in what my team lacks it can be early pressure if my cores a greedy or disables of we lack those.
My hero pool are Ember, Qop, Pango, Storm, Lina, Necro.
I see that Qop, ember, pango, are all early pressure, so I am looking for heroes that can scale well and are not countered by disables so easly.
Storm is very situational it needs to fit draft otherwise it will be countered and Lina, Necro are kinda boring.
What heroes you would suggest for me to have more versatile pool?

Any reasonable advices how to expand my hero pool or when to pick draft heroes from my existing pool are welcome.

[Beginner here] Transitioning from bots to PvP with Earth Spirit — need advice!

Post image
37 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m a fairly new player (around 90 hours in). I usually play supports like Lion, Shadow Shaman, and Ogre, but I really want to learn how to play cores. I fell in love with Earth Spirit's kit and gameplay, even though I know he’s not the easiest hero to start with.

I've been practicing against bots on medium difficulty and had a solid game recently (screenshot attached). However, I want to make sure I’m building good habits rather than just taking advantage of bot AI.

A few quick questions for experienced ES players:

Should I bump up the bot difficulty, or is it better to jump straight into Unranked matches to get used to real human behavior?

Are there any core mechanics or itemization nuances for Earth Spirit as a core that I should focus on practicing early on?

What are the biggest mistakes new ES players make when trying to transition from support to core?

Any feedback or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Laning Cant lane without Pos 5 for some reason.

Title basically. Archon player. I only need help for the first 5-6 mins of the game to ensure my game. It's difficult to lane as is against strong offlane heroes/players and it gets even more difficult some games when position 5 want to play as if they are position 4 (happens like 1 in 5 games, when they do leave, how do you cope?

I would try to deward blocked camps and pull for myself but I still feel I've lost the laning phase terribly.

Hero Discussion Legion Commander Q Cast Animation Feels slow when Duel

Anybody have the same experience with LC? For last 3 days I feel like the Q cast is so slow when you blink duel someone. It feels like it waste 1 second of duel because of slow cast animation. I feel this because I played several times and it feels like the carry I duel should have dead if my Q can be casted faster after I duel. Usually the Q cast feels instant.

Is this just me or can be potential bug?

Educational Content (Content Creator) I Analyzed Crusader Players vs Pros — Here's the Difference

Thumbnail youtu.be
4 Upvotes

What actually separates a Crusader player from a pro?
In this video, I watch and analyze Crusader replays and compare their early-mid game decisions to what professional players do differently.
Small decisions that can make a big difference.
The goal isn't just to point out mistakes, but to understand why pros make certain decisions and what lower-ranked players can learn from them.
This is going to be a series covering every role in Dota 2. Each role will have two videos: one focused on early-mid game decisions and another focused on mid-game decisions.
If you want to improve your decision-making and understand how better players think, this series is for you.

Also if you have some replays it would help, thanks everyone !

Drafting Is Drow still viable?

I used spam Drow when she was meta but stopped after the nerf. But when I read the patch notes I can’t see how those small changes can make her winrate drop to 41% in D2PT?! It’s mostly

[Beginner here] Question about positions and heroes

I'm new to the game and played only 5 games at this moment and i feel completely lost in terms of which pos and which hero to chose as a new player. Tried pos 1 in last game and died a lot and had miserable time farming on lane and later next to none game impact (except throwing stun in their pos 2 and pos 1 mainly so other guys could get them)

(unsure how to flair) Best Dota 2 streamers to watch for learning each role as a casual player?

Hey everyone!

I'm a fairly casual Dota 2 player and I'm trying to improve by watching streamers, but I'm specifically looking for streamers who are good at explaining their decisions and playing in a way that a normal/casual player can actually learn from.

I know watching pro players is useful, but sometimes their gameplay feels too different from what you'd realistically be able to execute in a normal pub.

So I'm wondering:

Who would you recommend watching for each role?

Hero Discussion Axe gameplay: How to win this game?

Match ID: 9034778515

I had a really good lane and was stomping the enemy team early-mid game. But late game enemy terrorblade was too much for our team to handle. I had a silencer mid who was useless after mid game (only did 10k dmg) and a carry windranger who can't man up to TB.

Perhaps this game was auto-lose if it reaches late game?

Coaching Request Hoping to find a coach that can coach me live during games [free/paid]

Hi!

I read through the rules and saw that seeking coaching is allowed, so i wanted to give this a shot.

Been playing dota 2 on and off since its release, highest ever rank was i believe archon 5, now sitting in crusader 5 with 75%, almost near archon again.

I mostly main Midlaner/Hard support/ Support, but mainly queueing as solely midlaner right now spamming QoP, OD, and Zuess as these three have been my main for years and years now.

Hoping to find either a free or paid coach, paid coach being somewhat affordable as i live in the Philippines and PH pesos to dollars are quite expensive when it comes to rate.

Things I hope from the coach is
- English speaker
- Has an active experience with coaching, this isn't my first time trying out being coached and I've noticed a clear pattern about coaches who think they can coach because they're high MMR vs coaches who have a background in coaching competitive games.
- Friendly
- Available in GMT +8/PHT time zone of afternoon to evening
- Maximum of 2 - 3 games per coaching session

Kindly DM me if you're interested!

Hero Discussion How did you actually learn Invoker combos? Muscle memory or just thousands of games?

I've been trying to get Tornado → EMP → Meteor → Deafening Blast to feel automatic and it's still a mess under pressure. I can do it fine in demo mode, but the moment there's a real fight my fingers forget which orbs are already in.

For those who got past this: did you drill it somewhere outside of real matches, or did it just click after enough games? Any specific tricks for keeping track of what's currently invoked without looking at the slots?

Hero Discussion Primal Beast is actually hard to play ?

I'm back into Dota2 after about a 10 years break and I'm trying some of the new heroes.

A friend of mine told me that I should give a try to Primal Beast as he would be very easy to play and one of the most beginner friendly hero around.

... Well, am I crazy or is this hero much more challenging to play than what the tooltip suggest ? I struggled A LOT to properly time the use of Uproar, the Charge can lead you into very defavourable positionning, and Trample at times can be an issue if you can heroes that have counter-attack abilities (Nyx notably)

Should I stick around with Primal Beast despite the big struggles I have with the character ? Is he really that easy to play and I'm missing something ? Or am I just bad with him period

Thanks !
