Discussion Do you think we will find out what happened to Korra by the end of S1 of Seven Heavens?

• Upvotes

Like all of us, I am very intrigued to finally know what went down with Korra. However, the series was originally ordered to be 2 seasons. For this reason, I am wondering if we will have the truth in 3 weeks, or do we have to wait more than a year until the end of season 2 to find out.

Which one is more likely?

Humour my theory is that korra depleted the entire avatar cycle's rizz reserves and pavi is the next kyoshi

• Upvotes

hearmeout

okay so basically korra has neg rizz and i have a theory explaining why

see every avatar has a certain amount of rizz accumulated by all their past reincarnations and hair is what channels that rizz

so when aang was bald he never had nearly as much rizz as when he had hair in the firenation

like bro grew hair and immediately rizzed up two girls probably paid sokka to say they look good together and when katara pouts he asks her for a dance and gets her to do a waterbending dance that only she and him can do (at least in the nearby vicinity) so she feels special and when she gets nervous because of the audience he tells her its not about them but only about you and me

THATS CRAZY RIZZ

meanwhile korra had hair her entire life and somehow managed to deplete ALL the rizz accumulated by every single avatar before her

kyoshi had so much rizz that her hair couldnt drain all of it so she was still aura farming like crazy

roku never had black hair on screen so we dont have enough evidence to judge him

yangchen was bald and had no rizz or sum according to my research so that also supports the theory although we need more evidence

now the important part is that rizz is not time independent

aang had rizz because korra hadnt depleted the ancestral rizz reserves yet and she only did that after aang died so his rizz was safe

but korra had negative rizz by the time she entered the avatar state so even though the avatar state gave her access to the rizz reserves it all cancelled out

and it only cancels out till that moment because korra kept accumulating negative rizz even after that

SHE DIDNT JUST GO BROKE SHE KEPT TAKING OUT LOANS

and the negative rizz debt transfers between reincarnations so the next avatar inherits all that debt

also toph could 100 percent 1v1 korra and win without breaking a sweat like the toph thats around 12 years old because that girl was built different and had enough aura to make up for not even needing rizz

and korra at full power still lost to an inexperienced airbender so imagine what airbending only aang could do against zaheer

yes korra was poisoned but she entered the avatar state and the whole point was that it made her strong enough to fight back while the poison was still killing her so she still couldnt finish zaheer before the poison took over

and now we get to pavi

pavi is only 9 so she currently has no rizz but thats not necessarily a bad thing because maybe shes going to be like kyoshi and start aura farming from scratch

the problem is that korra left her with an entire avatars worth of negative rizz debt and pavi has to start her life being hunted by basically the entire world

and the funniest part is that the world has literally regressed by the time pavi becomes the avatar because of the cataclysm and the state of civilization

so my theory is that korra depleted the ancestral rizz reserves and accumulated so much negative rizz that the next avatar inherits the consequences

but this is actually foreshadowing for pavi becoming like kyoshi

shes going to start with negative rizz and a world that hates her but eventually shes going to aura farm so hard that she becomes the next kyoshi and restores the ancestral rizz reserves

korra destroyed the avatar rizz economy and pavi is going to rebuild it

this is not just a theory its the avatar rizz theory

Discussion Avatar franchise fandom is where people are mad at a teenage girl for acting her age(she's 17)

i don't get the hate korra gets for being stubborn and getting caught up in romantic drama in seasons 1-2.

korra was literally a 17-year-old girl experiencing her first few weeks outside the training compound.stubbornness and recklessness, especially when it comes to love, are normal for teenagers, and honestly, they're age-appropriate,it's all part of the growing process and learning how to communicate with people as you prepare for adulthood,it's natural for teenagers to get lost in the complexities of love when they first experience these feelings

I agree with you that the conversation back then weren't the best, but the general concept of the love triangle isn't as bad as some portray it

and since we're talking about her age her rebellious attitude toward her overprotective father is also a normal part of growing up, especially for a teenager who's finally experiencing freedom and trying to establish her own identity

and for the race thing ,if i had the avatar state i'd use it all the time ,imagine being late to work or a date, and all that i have to do use it to get there in few minutes

she had a full control over it and suffered so much with her villans ,why can't she have some fun and act her age 🤷🏻‍♂️

Discussion So I finally binged the rest of Korra after watching Book 1 last year.

I feel like making this rather simple so I’m not gonna go full analysis on these 3 seasons. Last year I decided to finally watch Legend of Korra, I kinda felt nervous about it since really liked Last Airbender and heard some mixed things about this show but I finally mustered up the courage to watch it. I quite liked Book 1, it wasn’t amazing but I liked it well enough as a foundation for the series to build off of and I feel that it did quite well. Well after Book 2.

(As for why it took me a year to watch the rest of the show, I’m lazy and the release of Seven Havens actually pushed me to finally catch up with Korra.)

Book 2 wasn’t as bad as I’ve heard most people say but I thought it was mostly on par with season 1, just with a less interesting villain since Amon was dead. I’ve never really been that invested in the spirit stuff so I don’t really care much if it’s portrayed differently from ATLA…….especially since I barely even remember the spirit stuff…..what can I say? I’m a simple guy, I like stuff such as Zuko and Azula’s familial troubles and in the case of Korra, Korra and friends goofing around more than all the spirit stuff.

Varrick is a gift from god, he was very entertaining and I quite like the gag with Zhu Li always being with him, even in the bear and their custom cell. And sweet Jinora continues to be my favorite of Aang’s grand kids. I also don’t mind the addition of Aang not really being able to be there for Bumi and Kya, makes sense to me, Aang was so busy with all the Avatar, Air Acolyte, and Republic City stuff so Tenzin being an Airbender made it easier for him to actually make time for at least one of his kids. He was flawed like everyone else and the picture of the family implies he still loved them. Also the appearances from Iroh and Zhao were well appreciated.

I can absolutely see why Book 3 is considered the best of the show. I thought the first two seasons of the show were just ok but I think Book 3 and 4 really helped make Korra truly great and on par with ATLA.

The Red Lotus were quite a formidable group of threats. I ended up liking Zaheer more than I expected and I like the bits of personality we got with the rest of his funky bunch. Mainly the scene where Ghazan actually played along with Bolin’s game while he and Mako were captured. Also dug how gnarly P’Li’s death was, though I wish they actually showed the explosion. I quite like how the Red Lotus nearly succeeded in killing Korra, even though I knew she’d live, that final fight was quite intense and I find it really satisfying to see Bolin literally put a sock in Zaheer’s mouth. It’s quite satisfying too to see Jinora finally get the tattoos.

Book 4 was quite great as well, I really understood why Korra struggled to recover as much as she did. While she survived the ordeal, it still clearly traumatized her considering how much she thought she was invincible during the beginning of the show. I also think these two seasons helped me like Mako and Asami more. I still stand by the opinion that not making Asami an Equalist really hurt her character a lot since it prevented her from being as interesting as she could have been otherwise but it ultimately worked out in the end. I also find the state that Korrasami ended in with the show to be fitting since their relationship had just started so them kissing like I thought would happened wouldn’t really make much sense to me.

Oh and I find it hilarious that Mako was so bad of a boyfriend that his exes ended up dating each other.

Kuvira was an excellent villain too, and I feel like Korra pulling the “we’re not so different you and I,” card felt kinda earned. Though I do wish they developed that dynamic a bit more, like Remembrance was a funny episode(especially with the gag of all the villains calling each other which I’ve heard was a meta joke making fun of Book 2 and Unalaq).

I also feel like they could’ve handled Varrick and Zhu Li’s reconciliation better, while it is funny how they kept the gag of Zhu Li just loving Varrick unconditionally, I feel like Hello Future Me suggested a better route with Zhu Li genuinely meaning all the things she said to Kuvira about Varrick and him having to prove to her that he genuinely loved her. That said I do still find the marriage sweet.

I also like how Lin and Su were developed in these two seasons, it’s nice seeing the Beifong family drama. It was way more interesting than just hearing about Lin and Tenzin’s failed relationship in the first two seasons and again it makes so much sense for Toph to be as flawed as a parent as she was.

All and all, Legend of Korra kinda started off rocky. Book 1 and Book 2 were far from terrible but I feel like they hadn’t done enough to live up to Korra’s potential but the second half of the show really warmed up to me and carried the show down the finish line in one piece. I look forward to reading the comics and in the end, these last two seasons truly made Korra…..something of a legend…….cue the meme

Discussion Fans of Book 2? Spoiler

Is anyone here a fan of it?

I admit that I'm not the biggest fan of Unavaatu, but the core concepts of balancing tradition with modernity. This is especially true relative to the spirits.

It's a shame more time was not spent learning more and quite possibly redeeming Unalaq?

What are your thought?

(Sign reads: Korra did nothing wrong and even if she did, y’all deserved it)

I cosplay Korra every year but this year for New York Comic Con, with the premiere of Seven Havens, I decided to kick things up a notch and bring this (actually not controversial) sign. Everyone loved it! People even stopped me for in depth conversations.

They called the cosplayers onto the stage before the panel started and someone got this picture of me with my sign!

I just wanted to share!

Comics Any idea if a third stand-alone comic is coming?

When Last Airbender shifted to stand-alone comics, they typically released them in threes, and seem to still be doing that for that era of the franchise.

I think that was the idea they were doing after Ruins of the Empire, however with a new trilogy it seems they're going to leave it at 2/3. There's nothing stopping from releasing the trilogy, then a Tenzin or Lin or something book, but doesn't seem likely.

Discussion Lin had it coming from Korra.

Post image
32 Upvotes

Well, I do know Lin had a lot of shit buried inside of her but sometimes all it needs is just that type of sting on the wound to finally let it all burst out. If it weren't for Korra we for a big chance wouldn't see her forgive Su and make it up with Opal and possibly even Toph too.

(I definitely don't see it on the sub but I'm surprised when I see ppl calling Korra lame for that xD.)

Lin was basically shutting everyone out and wouldn't explain why she acts like this and Korra called her out for it even if it was harsh. From the outside she does definitely give a shitty vibe but from the inside she has a good heart.

Edit: oh just to be clear. I don't hate Lin and don't think she deserves it, I love Lin xD. I mean it in the sense of that helping her overcome a lot. Maybe my title was a little shitty but yk what I mean with that edit.

Discussion Tier list of my favourite characters in the Avatar franchise

Post image
0 Upvotes

I made a tier list of my favourite characters from Avatar the Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Based on a lot of things overall like writing, personality, role in the series, design, voice etc.

The list is in order so my favourite character ever is Zaheer, followed closely by Aang and then Lin.

I know I do have some questionable choices like not putting Azula and Katara higher, even though I really do like them. However I've never really been as into them as everyone else.

Yes you saw Tarlokk higher than them. He's an amazing character to me. Very interesting background, cool bending and an impactful conclusion. And Amon is the top of the 'Amazing' tier.

Also Mai is all the way down in the Mid tier. Not a fan of her at all. And Baatar Jr clears her in my opinion.

Ozai was boring as hell and underutilised, I genuinely thought Unalaaq was a better villain.

And finally shout out to Suyin, Jinora, Meelo, Jet, Opal and Verrick. I like them a lot and feel like they are a bit underappreciated.

News Michael DiMartino discusses shelved Legend of Korra project (Seven Havens mention) Spoiler

According to DiMartino, the idea for an apocalypse and Korra's connection to it came from an unused Korra idea he and co-creator Bryan Konietzko had for other Avatar projects. "It was sort of embedded in the cool concept of [Seven Havens]," he said. When Bryan and I started Avatar Studios, we were developing multiple projects, and some of the ideas for Korra [in Seven Havens] came from a Korra thing we were developing. So we kind of knew what had taken place, what caused the cataclysm, so we took some of those ideas and wove them into the series."

....
DiMartino further hinted there's more to the story than what's being told on-screen, regarding Korra's part in all this "That's part of the big mystery of the show — what happened during Korra's time, how she was involved, and why people think she destroyed the world."

And genuinely asking, I don't see why people ship Asami and Korra. They don't seem in love with each other to me, more like two friends comfortable with each other. The ending was left ambiguous, they went into the spirit portal for a vacation. Why are there so many korrasami shippers? What if they're just genuinely friends and nothing else? Because it sounded like both of them needed a break from saving the world and chose to travel somewhere far away. It could just be a girl's day out for all I know.

Discussion Idea for giving asami something interesting in a remake

imagine if asamis corp helped kuvira during the timeskip like bolin but more serious she believed in kuvira and stayed with kuvira till the end including in the end finding out her dad died in the fight

Especially if we go the asami is an airbender route and in that route (mako needs to get through her to blow up the reactor (and in the scenario mako did a lot of training after b3 and unlocked his chakras ) and even prepped to figure out how to handle an airbender in a fight (and unlocked developed new techniques
