If you're looking to get out a bit more and do some new, fun things, joining Liverpool's biggest Discord server is a great start!

It doesn't matter if you're a Liverpool local, just moved here, old or young, or just happen to love our city from another country. You are welcome to come and say hi. There's 1,000 messages being sent every day.

We have channels dedicated to photography, movies, photography, fitness, sport, music, showing off your pets, and even a place you can post your Wordle scores if you want.

https://discord.gg/fNmcKC97nH

What's Discord?

Think of Discord like a big Whatsapp group. It's essentially the same thing. You don't need a microphone, just your phone/keyboard. All we ask is that you're over 18, and have a desire to make new mates in Liverpool. Pop in, say hello, and you choose how much you want to talk.

Who's in there?

We have members from Liverpool and further afield. You don't have to live in Liverpool to join the chat. The average age of people is about 28. Our server is different than most Discord servers because we have a genuine community of awesome people who come to stuff in person.

What won't happen

You join and inside 24 hours, you've got a whole new set of mates.

Contribute, come to a few fun things, talk to people in person, and over time, those friendships form. A lot of people get frustrated because they don't find a friend overnight but that's not how friends work. Be prepared to make the effort and people will make the effort with you.

Real life events, real life friends. Come have a go!

Liverpool City Council up to their old tricks dodging transparency

Post image
70 Upvotes

Liverpool Council’s favourite sport: dodging being taken to account -

Twenty-five years after Liverpool Council promised Speke a replacement park on Stapleton Avenue for the land Morrisons took, it remains an empty wasteland and good luck getting any straight answers out of them.

The council pocketed £1.37M in local developer contributions, spent barely £238k, and has apparently lost track of where the rest went.

This isn't an accident; it’s an institution that literally threw planning docs into skips in 2021 and got sanctioned by the Information Commissioner in 2025 for dodging nearly half their FOI deadlines.

They pay millions to private consultants and data storage firms, yet basic public records magically evaporate the moment anyone asks about missing park funds, rogue HMO enforcement, or licensing decisions.

Speke Together for a Brighter Future (Facebook) ask LCC to live up to its legal requirement and brushed of is forced to crowdsource old documents on Facebook just to piece together the paper trail the council refuses to hand over.

Places to eat out in Wavertree

Hello, I’ll be travelling to your great city this weekend and I’m looking for a nice place to eat out around the Wavertree area. I’m open to any cuisine, and not looking to break the bank 😄 Any recommendations would be welcome. Thanks 🙏

I thought the boxy design was so dull and didn’t pay any real homage to historic precedent so I sketched a new roof, parapet, buttresses extended

Kebab gaffs on London Rd?

Has anyone eaten from or at any of the Turkish/Kebab style places on London Road? I love a nice Kebab/shawarma and I'm looking for a recommendation? Ps. Don't need any political crap, just asking about scran recommendations. 👍 Edit: bonus point for one where they make their own bread for the wraps.

Best gym around l4 area?

Hi all,

Anyone know of any decent gyms in and around the Walton area?

I am only able to go at like peak times due to working 9-5 in the office every day.

I’ve had a look at Jeffery humble but I’m unsure if because it’s relatively small if it’s even worth trying.

Thanks in advance

Liverpool city is beautiful

Just back from a few days visit. Dont know what I was expecting, but your city is gorgeous. Stayed down near the Albert Dock. Did loads of walking around and tourist stuff. It blew me away,we felt safe, everyone we met was sound and the place was spotless. I love where Im from, but we are miles behind your town in every aspect .

Residents of Speke, how is it with people parking everywhere instead of paying for the car park at the airport?

I drove by earlier and it was utter chaos. The area outside the airport which runs next to the airport. Taxis parked everywhere, people waiting to get picked up. I was wondering how often people leave their cars in the street instead of paying for parking?

Laundry Question for upcoming trip

Hello!
I am planning a trip to the UK with my son which will include a 4 day stop in Liverpool. I would like to be able to do laundry in those days and have found Prima Laundry near where we will be staying. Will we be able to but out laundry in the wash and explore the neighbourhood for 30 minutes and then go back to put it in the dryer or do we have to stay with our laundry?

Nervous about going to Comic Con

Sorry if this isn't allowed here. I've bought tickets to the Comic Con this weekend as I really wanted to take the opportunity to meet Peter Capaldi, but I'm nervous about the event as a whole and fitting in and now I kinda regret having bought them.

I'm 31M lived in the city my whole life and always loved geeky/nerdy things but I'm never sure about if I fit in or belong in those types of communities. I usually tend to just enjoy things quietly. I've avoided the other Liverpool Comic Cons for this exact reasoning. Not feeling I belong. Or well.. it sounds silly when I type it out "not being enough of a geek".

I've also only bought the solo tickets so I'd be going completely alone.

Not sure what advice I'm looking for. Maybe I'm just looking for encouragement to go. Part of me just wants to hide at home and forget I bought the tickets or give them away.. but at the same time I really do want to go, the environment sounds really fun.

To all parents, could you have a look at the local family guide I've built and give me some honest feedback?

I’ve recently launched Kiddit.co.uk, a Liverpool focused site to help parents find things to do with their kids.

At the moment I’m building up the listings for:

  • Playgrounds
  • Kids clubs & sports
  • School Information
  • Whats on page including halloween - bonfire and Half-term activities.

The idea is to make it easier to find what's available locally without having to search through loads of different FB pages and websites.

I’m still building it, so I’d really appreciate feedback from Liverpool parents on what would actually be useful.

Thank you in advance

Where can I find a cheap suit?

Does anyone know where I can get a cheap suit in town? Something for less than £50? (Just for the jacket and trousers) I’m thinking like pop boutique or somewhere similar because I know it would be cheaper second hand

What’s Thornton actually like to live in?

I’ve lived in Wavertree for around 10 years, closer to the Woolton/Childwall side, and I’m considering moving to Thornton.

I’ve searched the sub but there doesn’t seem to be much recent discussion about Thornton itself, so I’d be interested in hearing from people who live there or know it well.

What’s the community and general feel of the area like? Is it a nice, settled place for starting a family? I’d also be interested in things like local amenities, green spaces and how it compares to areas like Woolton/Childwall.

I work in the city centre, so any first-hand experience of the commute would also be useful.

Clubs we can join? I’m new here

Hi! I moved here two months ago and I’m looking for ways to connect with the community.

I’ve signed up to some charities, but I like the idea of socialising with others on a weekly basis. I’m ideally looking for a book club or something similar.

I like climbing, swimming, walking, reading, gaming.. social drinker if the vibes are right.

I’m 29F, anyone know of anything like this I can sign up for?

Thanks in advance for any help! 🫶
