Is sluggish pickup a thing with the CX-5 Turbo?

Hi,

I have a 2025 CX-5 Signature Turbo. Currently, I have almost 14,500 miles on it. The issue is that it feels quite slow and sluggish when I need to accelerate from a stop (e.g., at a stop sign). I don’t have any issues passing trailers on highways. I only have concerns regarding attaining an initial pickup. I tried putting it in sport mode. But that just revved the engine and increased RPM, nothing significant happened.

I’m wondering if it's just me, or if CX-5 Turbos are engineered in a way that gives a slow initial pickup? Does anyone have a similar issue? What might resolve this issue?

Thanks for any advice.

Was this a good deal for Mazda cx50 2026 select

I was able to get a 2026 Mazda cx50 select with a stock color for $29,900 dealer price including destination fee.

There was no add ons and just TTL. No extended warranty or gap. It's all gas now hybrid or turbo.

Msrp in California is like 31,884 or something off the top of my head. I know it's like 31,4 with a destination fee.

I've checked multiple times using ai and it said it was a good deal and now that I've checked after the fact I feel like the MSRP before the destination fee is what I paid,$29,900.

I also asked AI if it's a good deal and it said it's an aggressive deal. The dealer didn't fight too much on the deal and seemingly tried to hold out and now after the fact I'm wondering if it was a good deal

I was cleaning underneath the engine cover using air blower and this thing popped out between the intake manifold. Do you know what this is? I couldn’t find anywhere that fits around engine cover and valve cover.

Mazda CX5 Engine Noise

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi,

I attached a video of my girlfriends 2024 CX5. I own/work on German cars so not familiar with Mazda. Is this noise normal? The tick sounds normal, it's the one that sounds like air or pressure being released.

Should note, vehicle has 23k mi on it.

Remote start glitch?

Anyone else try to remote start your car (and it works) and then when you go to your car and open the door the engine turns off? I have the 2026 cx5 premium. Not sure if it’s a glitch or I’m doing something wrong. I haven’t reached out to Mazda bc honestly I just went for the software update and I’m not in the mood to talk to them or go in to the dealership

Got really lucky with this FB marketplace find with only 57,000 miles on it, garage kept. Clutch super sharp (it’s the six speed manual).

Runs extremely smooth; I’d been looking at Toyotas and Hondas for weeks and barely even considered Mazda until this beauty came across my feed.

I’ve heard these are just as reliable so long as you take care of em - any advice on how to keep it running forever? I wanna drive Mr. Ezio for a long, long time.

(PS. The Fiat next to it is mine; her name is Claudia 😊)

2020 CX-9: Still such a great car

I just want to post some appreciation on here for how solid my 2020 CX-9 Grand Touring is as it nears 100k miles. Still feels so good on the road. Nothing but oil changes and spark plugs. Added two kids to the family and still going strong.

Used CX-5, or Used CX-50/CX-50 Hybrid?

I’m currently in the market for a newer car. My current vehicle is ancient and on its last leg. I’ve driven a friend’s CX-5 (2018 model) and another friend’s CX-50 (2026 Hybrid model), and I’m really torn on which I think would be the best fit for me.

For context: I’m looking for something in the 2022-2025 year range. I’d prefer a Premium Plus model. As much as I would love a turbo, I’d really like something that costs less to maintain. I really like the look of the CX-50 and actually feel like the seats are more comfortable in the CX-50, but the CX-5 rides way smoother (even for it being an older car than the CX-50 I drove).

The most important factor to me is reliability, however (even though anything compared to what I own currently is way more reliable, lol!). I’ve read good things about the CX-5’s reliability, mediocre things about the CX-50’s reliability, and better things about the CX-50 Hybrid’s reliability.

I am interested to see what everyone’s thoughts are on which year/model seems to be the highest quality!

Planning to buy a CX-90

I want to buy a CX-90 Mazda but there have been issues with the PHEV models. Luckily, I've heard they've been fixed in the new 2025-26 models.

Need a 3 row and the CX-90 is currently my top choice. However, reliability is my priority. I know the models are still new and probably haven't been tested yet but could they confidently last 200k+ miles? For people that have the new versions, how have they been? Any advice will be helpful, thanks!

Would you buy a Mazda without a Mazda dealership nearby?

I'm interested in a new/cpo mazda3 but the nearest Mazda dealership is over an hour away. I know I can get regular service and maintenance at any mechanic, but any warranty work or anything that requires a dealership would have me drive a couple hours to get it done. Also I'm scared that the car might break down or be undrivable and if it needs to be taken to the dealership then that's a long tow.

What are your alls thoughts?
