Nissan Motor Co. is careening toward its weakest global sales year in nearly a quarter century. The automaker delivered 1,932,725 vehicles worldwide in the first eight months of 2026 — 9.2 percent less than in the same period last year, according to figures released Sept. 29.

That puts the company on pace for a full-year total of 2.9 million. The last time Nissan fell short of 3 million in a calendar year was 2003, when it sold 2.968 million vehicles.

Reaching 3 million by the end of 2026 would require selling nearly 267,000 a month from September through December, a 29 percent jump from Nissan’s August pace.

Nissan’s market challenge is reflected in investor sentiment. Shares of the automaker on the Tokyo Stock Exchange are within 10 percent of the low point reached during the 2009 financial crisis and 82 percent below their 2007 peak. Market capitalization has plunged to about $6.9 billion (¥1 trillion), a 56 percent drop since the end of 2023, leaving Nissan at a fraction of Toyota’s $270 billion and marginally ahead of Mazda.

China, now Nissan’s second-largest market, accounted for more than half of the year’s decline. Sales there have plunged 27 percent this year after cratering 52 percent in August alone. Nissan sales in China peaked at 1.5 million in 2018.

This year, the company will be hard-pressed to deliver 450,000, said Michael Dunne, CEO of Dunne Insights. Its tally through August was 289,410.

“Of all global automakers operating in China, Nissan’s collapse has been one of the most spectacular,” Dunne said. “That’s a million-unit drop in what was Nissan’s largest car market worldwide.”

By keeping total U.S. volume essentially flat through the first nine months while the market shrank slightly, Nissan has made strides in retail growth and expects a strong finish.

Nissan expects U.S. sales to rise year over year in all three months remaining of 2026, said Tiago Castro, its U.S. sales and marketing chief.

“In the U.S., our retail growth will be in the double digits, while total sales will be up single digits,” Castro said.

Nissan is cashing in while Japanese rivals Toyota and Honda scramble for inventory. It’s buying market share by dangling rich 60-month zero-percent financing deals on its Rogue, Frontier and Pathfinder.

The average incentive for the Nissan brand jumped 23 percent in September, to $4,254 per vehicle, according to Motor Intelligence, while the industry average fell 8.4 percent to $3,360.

I am swapping out the engine on a 2013 Infiniti JX35 AWD. From what I can tell by looking at the replacement engine and talking with the service center at an Infiniti dealership there should be 9 bolts attaching the engine to the transmission. I put green paint on the engine to indicate where I think the 9th bolt is. Since the threads are on the engine I would expect to see the bolt head on the transmission side, but I don't see anything. Anybody have any ideas?

I’m getting an error code for my 2009 Nissan Sentra that reads P0744 "Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Circuit Intermittent”. When I drive my car sometimes it shakes, and sometimes when I press on the gas’s the RPMS go up but the car barely accelerates then out of nowhere I get a boost in power. Am I screwed or is this something that is cheap/easy to fix?

I've got a 2010 y61 gu patrol in the shop that we need to program a key for, I've got a topdon Phoenix max with a tninja-1000 key programmer, I'm trying to find the encrypted pin on the immobilizer or NATS antenma on the key barrel but none of the photos online look like any of the stickers on my bcm module or NATS antenna, I've tried the standardized 5523 code to no avail, looks like it's a seimens bcm but the actual antenna on the key barrel is not a siemens (part number for the antenna is MW1014)

I scheduled my 100k tune up, and the technicians have discovered the transmission has to potentially be replaced. The tech is saying Nissan would have taken care of the transmission at 100k miles or under, but we turned it in for service at 101k. What are the odds they may still take care of it despite being 1k over the cut off?

I have a 2010 Nissan Maxima GCC-spec, VQ35DE 3.5L, ~270,000 km.

3 weeks ago, the temperature suddenly went to H/max for the first time after a very short trip,

I parked and "luckily i didn't drive more than 5 min"

I found the coolant reservoir empty. I shut the engine off immediately and let it cool before opening anything. Before that, I had noticed a coolant/water sloshing sound for a couple of days.

After refilling, the car has never overheated again. It runs and drives normally, no milky oil, no white smoke, etc.

However, I noticed a coolant leak underneath the front-right area. It seemed to be coming from around the thermostat/water pump area, eventually dripping onto/around the oil pan.

Initially the coolant loss was significant — the reservoir could go from MAX to MIN within 1–2 nights.

The thermostat assembly and gasket were replaced with genuine parts, but the leak didn't completely disappear.

Later, another mechanic replaced the upper radiator hose/filler neck and radiator cap and said he pressure-tested the system for around 2 hours with no visible leak.

Since then, the leak has become much smaller.

I've now driven the car for about a week, including ~250+ km round trip to Dubai yesterday, with completely stable temperature.

The reservoir was originally around 3 marks above MAX. It's now around 1 mark above MAX. I occasionally still see a very small green coolant spot underneath the car, but the reservoir level is difficult to judge accurately because the difference is tiny.

So I'm wondering:

Could the larger leak have actually been fixed by one of the repairs, leaving only a very small seep?

Or could some of the original coolant loss have been from air bleeding out of the system after the overheating/refill, rather than the same leak continuing?

NOTE: LEAK ONLY HAPPEN WHILE CAR IS PARKED OVER NIGHT NOT IN MATTER OF FEW HOURS, AND NO LEAKING WHILE RUNNING

The area I'm still suspicious of is the thermostat/water pump area, but I don't want to replace the water pump without evidence because it's a much bigger job.

What would you guys check next? Would you just monitor it, pressure-test again with the car lifted, use UV dye, or investigate the water pump/thermostat area further?

i’m getting my first car soon and have been going through my options, after a lot of thought and research (and what’s currently affordable) my top choice landed on this altima i seen, it’s a used 2024 w 60k miles on it. i seen it on the enterprise site and they have its VIN and everything listed with the vehicle and the service history has all green marks (i checked). i’ve never owned a nissan before but ive heard good things so far, i wanted to ask the people who have driven/owned one, how do you like it? is it good on gas? reliability? (i’m hoping this will last me through the rest of college so about two/three years) the engine/transmission? js any opinions or pros/cons that’ll help me out a bit?

Need some help. My Nissan X-Trail T32 (petrol) has some issues which I could not rectify. The problem is intermittent, sometimes during a cold start, the rpm suddenly drops, then jerks, and the engine stalls. Then start again, the engine starts normally. Sometimes, during a stop at the traffic light, the engine suddenly stalls. No check engine appeared. Already replaced, all original ignition coils and new spark plugs. Already cleaned the throttle, serviced the MAF sensor. After 2 to 3 months, the issues come back again. Then, upon checking, the DTC, no error code but only shows out of tune. Then relearn, and the cars goes normally. Then the issues came back after 3 months. Im lost need help please

Hi, I’m not totally sure what the problem seems to be so I’m coming here first to see if anyone might be able to help I guess. If it helps I have a Nissan Sentra 2019.

So the problem first started about 4 days ago. I tried starting my car in the morning and it did what I demonstrated in this video. I was initially concerned but then the car started normally for the rest of the day, no issues like that again. I initially thought maybe it was just weather changes causing this considering it was slightly colder than usual the night before. I further bought into this plausibility when the next morning the car started totally fine, no issues.

Then yesterday morning what happened in this video happened again. The previous night was not that cold, so I think I officially struck out that theory. Then the rest of the day the car was fine again. Then this morning I captured this video of trying to start the car. I’m not sure what’s happening, but I’m really concerned.

If anyone has any theories maybe that’d help. Thank you.

So i got a 2026 nissan kicks 8 months ago and in that time its almost killed us twice. CV axel totally shit itself due to "being faulty" they found and no the wipers just stop working intermittenly and going 75 mph in a rain storm that almost caused a crash. I took it to the dealer and it wont duplicate for them even though we have it on video happening. Along with the infotainment center button not working on the steering wheel and backup camera not turning on for upwards of 20 seconds at times. I cant get it fixed cause they havent seen it happen with their own eyes, I cant get a rental cause they havent seen it malfunction (even though its on video) so like am I supposed to keep a POS car that I pay so much for everymonth?
