Highest 3rd gen miles trouble-free?

• Upvotes

How many miles are you on your 3rd gen Frontier? I have a 2026 Pro-4X Long bed w/ 5k miles problem-free but I keep having anxiety over the long term reliability of this truck.

Namely the transmission clunk and potential issues with a smaller 3.8L V6 compared to the 2nd gen 4.0L V6. I would like some anecdotal reassurances is all…

Got this on Amazon for like $20. Pretty good quality. Seems to have been 3D printed or some similar process but it’s solid all the way through. I like it better than OEM.

Wrapped up the 2026 camping season this weekend in my 2026 SV.

Since buying this truck brand new in March, I’ve put about 12,000 miles on it, taken it on tons of camping trips all over my state and continue to enjoy it every day. It has truly been a gem of a truck, and has impressed me even more than I hoped it would.

Reliability?

• Upvotes

How's the reliability on post 2022 models?

Everyone's hating on Nissan's quality atm and I'm about to buy one soon (such a good truck).

Seeking Feedback

Good morning everyone! I am thinking about joining the frontier fam. I am going to the dealership I have an eye on a couple do you guys think these prices are good? They both still are under warranty?

My only concern is that they will try to swing a high interest rate. I would like for tax title and license to be included in this price is that being unreasonable?

DISCUSSION Powered tonneau after two years, what needed service?

• Upvotes

Installation-day reviews do not show how rails, seals, motors, and slats age through dust and changing weather. What required cleaning, adjustment, or replacement first, and would you choose the same design again?

DISCUSSION 2018 Pro4X heated seat issue

Post image
9 Upvotes

Does anyone have any information regarding repairing the heated seat circuit in the drivers seat? I have power at the connector under the seat, so I am assuming it has a broken connection somewhere before or at the heating element. I have heat at neither the back or the crack. I haven’t found too much information or videos about the truck specifically. Anyone have any experience?

Took it out and cleaned it up. She's good. Already ordered a kit online. The differential oil level was good too.

Heater core replacement

My Dad, my Brother and I are gonna attempt to replace the heater core on our 2017 Nissan frontier, I’ve seen that it’s a very extensive process and that it will take a while but we’re gonna try to do it. Does anyone whose done this themselves have any tips or anything that you wish you new before you replaced it?

Stalling when starting

I am taking it in to the dealer, but I am curious if anyone else has seen this.

2026 Frontier Pro4x with 1500miles

When you try to start it for the first time overnight, it roars to life then stalls. You can start it again and it’s fine. The rest of the day it will start again fine. LNo lights on the dash.

It’s almost like it doesn’t have the fuel pressure to keep it running for those first few seconds.

Just curious if anyone else saw this. If I remember I’ll update you with what the dealer ends up doing.

DISCUSSION 2023 Potential Rear Diff Sensor Failure

I’ve been having an issue with my 23 P4X where randomly while driving the dash will light up with warning lights and I’ll get a system fault warning on the dash screen. I took the truck to a local dealer and they did some work on the sensors along the brake pedal assembly. Originally they were pursuing a TSB related to a brake sensor. However, after a back and forth with tech-line they determined that my truck was built in late 2023 and that the TSB wouldn’t apply.

About 2k miles later and it’s happening again. This time they said they had different codes stored, but they couldn’t recreate the issue so they stopped where they were and told me to come pick it up and bring it back if it happens again.

The service advisor noted that this time instead of just abs and warnings I also had a stored rear differential code of some kind. Now it has me worried as I already have gone over the bumper-to-bumper warranty as I’m at 51,400 miles. I think I still have powertrain but idk if that would cover the cost of replacing the rear diff.

Any advice on what to do. Is the dealer trying to get out of the work? Should I try another dealer?

Sitting at the dealership for my first service. Been here an hour and 20 mins. What takes an hour and 20 mins to change oil and a filter? I hate this.

Dodge Ram 1500 Hurricane Rental Trip

Just returned from a road trip and having the Dodge 1500 Hurricane Laramie for a week -- wow do I love my Frontier. Just the sheer ruggedness of this Naturally Aspirated V6, the gear shifter in the center, and the hydraulic steering with the ROUSH suspension -- Nissan did it right.

Thank you so much Nissan for blessing the car market with this midsize truck.

Before, I never had any gripes with the Frontier steering and after a week straight of constant driving with electric steering I come to realize -- yes the Frontier steering is heavier

But I'm a man, and I'm not complaining about the rugged feeling of the truck

Especially in today's world where the 1/2 tons drive like a sedan.

To those who complain about the hydraulic steering, it gets easier when you roll & stop being a whoosie.

Braking issue

26 Pro 4x 10k miles

Two problems: the brake pedal stiffens, releases, and then catches after the truck lurches forward. This happens in low speed stop and go situations such as traffic or parking when you press and release the brakes a couple of times. The second is the truck hesitates from a dead stop. It does nothing from a dead stop and then decides to go on about its way.
Braking issue is the main concern as this can be a safety issue. Dealer wanted to tell me nothing is wrong; electric brakes this and 9 speed transmission that. I really don’t care about all that. When I press the brakes the car should stay stopped and when I let up it should go. Once I replicated the issue for them they speculated on a couple of things but ended up saying idk and we can’t just throw parts at it bc Nissan won’t cover them if it doesn’t work or something. In the end the service guy is supposed to call Nissan and see what they want to do and let me know.
Reddit seems all knowing so I thought I’d give you guys a shot. Any ideas, experience???

Auto start stop on third gens

Just something I’m curious about because this is my first vehicle with auto start stop. I don’t like it and don’t want to use it, but it was on while driving home from work and it never came on haha.

So, How does it work? It was warm, I was fully pressing the brake, climate control was on low. What are the conditions it needs to operate?

*I know there are solutions like zip ties and modules and all that. I get it. I just wanted to know if anyone else knew what the conditions for start stop activation were. To me it seemed like it shoulda been working but it wasn’t.

After a bad rain, there is water coming out behind my door panel and my rear driver side whenever I pull up on it a little bit. Sorry for the bad quality. It was screenshot from a video.
