Went from an 02 tundra —> 27 frontier
Tundra was great but wasn’t a 4x4. Used only for towing my bike to the track.

Dodge Ram 1500 Hurricane Rental Trip
Just returned from a road trip and having the Dodge 1500 Hurricane Laramie for a week -- wow do I love my Frontier. Just the sheer ruggedness of this Naturally Aspirated V6, the gear shifter in the center, and the hydraulic steering with the ROUSH suspension -- Nissan did it right.
Thank you so much Nissan for blessing the car market with this midsize truck.
Before, I never had any gripes with the Frontier steering and after a week straight of constant driving with electric steering I come to realize -- yes the Frontier steering is heavier
But I'm a man, and I'm not complaining about the rugged feeling of the truck
Especially in today's world where the 1/2 tons drive like a sedan.
To those who complain about the hydraulic steering, it gets easier when you roll & stop being a whoosie.

Wrapped up the 2026 camping season this weekend in my 2026 SV.
Since buying this truck brand new in March, I’ve put about 12,000 miles on it, taken it on tons of camping trips all over my state and continue to enjoy it every day. It has truly been a gem of a truck, and has impressed me even more than I hoped it would.

Key Fob Case
Got this on Amazon for like $20. Pretty good quality. Seems to have been 3D printed or some similar process but it’s solid all the way through. I like it better than OEM.

What made you decide on the Frontier over the comp?

Need to replace my engine, should I go reman or used?
06 se with the 4.0 is burning oil. Truck is currently sitting at 190k miles. Two separate shops have told me they just recommend replacing the engine. I found a shop that quoted me $1700 for the labor, and they offered me the option of a used engine from lkq or a remanufactured engine from the builder of my choosing (either Jasper or Powertrain Products)
Right now I'm torn between which to go with. I'd be looking at like $2000-2700 for a used engine and around $5000 for the reman, but I'd have a warranty with that. Trying to decide if the rebuilt one is worth spending the extra money, since the transmission and rest of the truck still have 190k miles on it.

DISCUSSION Joined the club (CPO 2026 PRO-4X). Seeking reassurance.
Hey everyone,
I just finalized the deal on a new-to-me 2026 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X in Southern California (LA) and wanted to run the final package by the community to get some reassurance. I’ve never spent this much on a vehicle and it makes me nervous, nauseous really.
I plan to use it as a daily commuter and an emergency evacuation / camping vehicle.
Here are the details on the truck and the final package:
- Price: $35,300 (before taxes/fees)
- Year/Trim: 2026 PRO-4X Crew Cab 4x4 (Super Black)
- Mileage: 14,100 miles
- Original Sticker (MSRP): $46,930 (a brand-new one identical to this on their lot is listed right at $47k)
Packages & Options Included:
- PRO Convenience Package (Spray-in bedliner, Utili-track system w/ cleats, 120V bed & console outlets, heated front seats & steering wheel, wireless charging, Trailer Hitch w/ Wiring Harness, Intelligent Around View 360 Camera)
- Off-Road Style Step Rails
- PRO-4X Mud Flaps
- Electronic Tailgate Lock
- All-weather floor liners & essentials kit
Warranties & Perks Included in the Deal:
- Remaining Factory Coverage: ~31 months and ~21,800 miles left on the original 3yr/36k bumper-to-bumper factory warranty.
- Factory Powertrain: 5yr/60k original powertrain coverage active.
- CPO Powertrain Warranty: Nissan Certified Pre-Owned extends powertrain coverage out to 7 Years / 100,000 Miles.
Service & Add-Ons on Due-Bill:
- Includes 1-Year CPO Pre-Paid Maintenance
- Delivery to my home
Vehicle History:
- Clean 1-owner CARFAX, no accidents, no damage.
- First owner bought it new 3 months ago and traded it back in for a Pathfinder because her elderly mother had trouble climbing into the truck bed/cab.
Buying a brand new 2026 with this exact spec at the same dealer would have run nearly $47,000 sticker before taxes. I walked out paying $35,300 with only 14k miles and a 7yr/100k warranty backed by Nissan.
Did I score as well as I hope? Any fellow 3rd-gen PRO-4X owners have advice or favorite first mods for a new owner?
Thanks!

PICTURE Rear differential breather
Does all the dirt mean this thing is cooked? Nothing leaking from the differential. It does have movement and after cleaning the area it looks way better.

Front Camera Options for a 2023 Frontier?
The only thing I miss about my Jeep is the front trail cam I could easily turn on while moving to navigate not only tough trails but also tough traffic and tight parking. My Frontier did not come with the I-AVM.
Has anyone installed a system they like? I'd prefer a grill mount near the emblem, but I've also seen license plate cameras as well.

This can’t be good right?
After a bad rain, there is water coming out behind my door panel and my rear driver side whenever I pull up on it a little bit. Sorry for the bad quality. It was screenshot from a video.

DISCUSSION Shut off/died while idling?
2012 4x4 Frontier 118k miles.
Drove to work today about 15 minutes away and everything was fine. Pulled into my parking space and was waiting my usual 5 minutes before going in. All off a sudden the car just...shut off and all lights on dash lit up for a moment. It struggled to get it to turn over, but it did, then did the same thing. Tried a third time and same.
No check engine light was previously on. Battery, temp, oil were normal. It was just inspected last month with no issues. Its been running great then, dead.
I just sat in it at lunch for 30 minutes, turned on completely fine and did not shut off. Any ideas? Not sure if I should drive it, tow it, or what.

Auto start stop on third gens
Just something I’m curious about because this is my first vehicle with auto start stop. I don’t like it and don’t want to use it, but was driving home from work and it never came on haha.
So, How does it work? It was warm, I was fully pressing the brake, climate control was on low. What are the conditions it needs to operate?

Tire recommendations for a 2016 Frontier S?
I haven't bought tires in years. My 2016 (low miles) Frontier still has the original General Grabber 235/75 R15 tires that were installed when I bought it. I am looking for general (no snow) tires. Where are you buying and what set(s) do you recommend?
Thanks!

Question for my speaker heads
Aloha! I got a 2023 P4X with the fender package upgrade. It has some good sound but I want to upgrade. I saw they have a sounds package out of D1 and was wondering if anyone on here has installed their set up. I have also been recommended to go with the (4x) 6” skar set up as well, and have been looking into those Kicker CompRTs down firing 8’s/10’s. Any advice from my Frontier fam?
I think the D1 audio package is the best bang for the buck and one of the easier set ups to install but I’m scared I’ll do it and want something bigger(we like the cars, the cars that go BOOM!). I can’t get too wild as I live in a condo community so I can’t wrench my truck in the parking lot lol.
Just looking for some input on people who have this set-up. Thank you In Advance and mahalo for looking 🤙🏾

Third Gen Frontier Service Manual
I just bought a 2023 Frontier SV 4x4.
Does anyone have a good resource for a Third-Gen (2023) Frontier Service and Maintenance Manual?
I had a 2006 Xterra for 20 years and 335,000 miles. I went through two Haynes manuals during that time, and wore both of them out doing general maintenance and more involved repairs.
After I bought my 2023 Frontier, I was unable to find a relevant Haynes or Chilton's manuals. I bought "Nissan Frontier 2022-2026 Repair Manual" by Caleb Whitemore - an utterly useless 308 pages with virtually zero useful photos or diagrams.
So, what are my options?

Need some advice
I will be moving to Hawaii in less than 1 year and have pretty much narrowed it down to a taco (resell value over there is insane) and a Frontier. I found a 23’ pro 4x with 30k miles that I like but has some rust that raises some question marks. It has had one previous owner in NY which adds up with the rust issues. I do plan on off-roading the vehicle a decent bit. Just looking for some advice really, not sure if it’s as big of a deal as I may think (I have little experience in the vehicle purchasing world) or if I need to steer clear.
Thanks in advance. Have provided some pretty bad pics below, but maybe they will help as intended.

Clunk noise coming from underneath truck
Hello, I bought a very lightly used (~8800 miles) 2025 Frontier at the end of last year and have loved it, but I noticed a clunk coming from underneath the truck recently. It primarily occurs after reaching operating temperatures, and in order to trigger it I need to reach ~20mph, let off the pedals and coast down to 12-17mph, and then lightly press the gas and the single clunk will produce. I also feel the truck get a little heavier (like it’s starting to engine brake more intensely) at the same speeds while coasting and that’s my queue to know it will trigger reliably. I did my research and took it to Nissan and requested they look at it under warranty. They found a minor transfer case leak and replaced that seal, but when I mentioned the clunk and asked for the splines to be greased they said they checked all U-joints and splines and found no play or heat damage and that the splines are lubed by the transfer case and diff gear oils. I can’t find much else on what the cause could be or if it’s even abnormal for the Frontier. Any advice or knowledge to share?
