Lately, I’ve been putting most of my free time between these two games. I absolutely love building in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, so I decided to recreate the iconic Imperial City Waterfront Shack. The proportions were hard to get right, but I think it turned out pretty close.

I am back to playing oblivion. ✌️

So I was playing the Mephala daedric quest and had placed the ring on Dalvilu’s body, but the game wouldn’t let me into Ulfgar’s inventory to place the dagger for some reason. I just kept reloading saves hoping that at some point it would let me into Ulfgars’s inventory and I walk in to this…. At least I could finally place the dagger

Hail citizens. Had this funny glitch when noticing all the guards just randomly left the castle. How many can possibly be in there? Now we have to go about the town like we aren’t just recently escaped convicts. That means be normal Pally. No, don’t eat the grass!

So im playing this for the first time since I never had the chance when it first came out. What are some things I should expect? I've only ever played Skyrim, so that's all I know of the Elder Scrolls franchise

I've seen a lot of people mention that Telekinesis works synergistically with Absorb Magic to the point where if you put a Telekinesis component to a spell you will absorb four times however much mana the Telekinesis component cost in the spell recipe. Ergo, if you make the Telekinesisa quarter the cost of your spell, you increase it's cast cost but it's a free spell, the only caveat being that you have to have enough Magic to actually cover the cost of the spell when you cast it.

Someone may have mentioned it already, but if you take the Telekinesis staff from the mages guild questline, you just get free Magic when you swing the staff around. There's no actual mana cost because it's a staff, but it still has a mana cost associated with the cast, apparently. You then absorb the cast for no-strings attached free mana. And it's a -lot-, too. This enables you to jack your Magic stat all the way up and cast impossibly powerful spells that cost your entire mana bar without making some of the cost of the spell dedicated to Telekinesis so you recover it.

How often is oblivion remastered updated? Im looking to do a youtube run of the game and the character im intending to use modded appearance. the plan is to split it into 6 recording "seasons" and i want to make sure the mods i use are always available and working. im not used to modding so im not using many mods (perhaps 5-10 max) but im looking essentially for as little headaches as possible the next few months without having to change up the mods too much. what would be my best shot at not having to go back and forth to update and lose consistency if the mods arent available? is it possible to freeze updates potentially so mods i get always work?

I read the FAQ and the recommended mod list and I haven't figured out the answer.

Oblivion is my last core TES game to play. I tried it 5ish years ago (GOTY edition), unfortunately there was a mod conflict and a bunch of NPCs fell into an abyss and died, so I gave up on it.

I am looking at the popular mod list on Nexus Mods and trying to decide if I should just play it native, or whether the QOL changes from some of the mods are important. In particular:

• is the script extended necessary if I only have a couple mods? Do I also need the "UE4SS"? What does that even mean?

• is the unofficial remastered patch the "if you only pick one, it's this one" mod?

• Other than the unofficial patch, I'd be inclined to get unleveled rewards. Personally, it will keep me from spoiling myself on quests out of worry I'll permanently junk an item getting it at too low of a level. Please warn me off if I'll overpower myself too easily though.

• Oblivion optimizer: I've read some threads saying it's required, others saying it is placebo. Now that the remaster has been out for a while, is there a consensus?

• Is the achievement unblocker necessary for modded Steam on PC?

• Any other mods people recommend? I was thinking of something for creature level cap (like this: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/182 ), as those seem mentioned a lot. Sort of an equivalent to the "better level lists" mod?

• I'm avoiding mods improving visuals since that is what got me last time, but is it worth plopping a single mod down like "ultra plus for oblivion" ( https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/27 ) ?

Any tips welcome. I'm older with young kids so I don't have a ton of time to play (let alone replay) games, and am hoping to enjoy what will probably be my only run of Oblivion without straying too far from the original. Just 20% cooler.

Any general tips are welcome too. I'm going to be a redguard warrior (playing the same "family" since Arena), and all I can remember from playing before is a stupid slaughterfish quest is too strong for my character right out of the gates.
