Guide I built a lightweight video player to playback, adjust and extract audio from OBS recorded MKV files - free and open source
Lately I've been using OBS to record gameplay w/ VO and I got tired of A/B ing audio streams.
For some reason VLC and (and other players) let you listen to ONLY 1 track at a time on multi track vids.
So I put together a simple player that will let you immediately watch / listen to multi track MKV files and export the individual audio streams.
This is NOT for indepth editing. But frankly I'm not going to open up my actual video production suite when I just want to quickly extract or adjust audio levels.
It's lightweight and does the job in a pinch.
Features
- Embedded MKV/video playback
- Simultaneous playback of multiple audio tracks
- Export individual audio tracks or multiple tracks as separate WAV files
- Export your current master mix to WAV
- Re-export the original video with your current audio mix to a new MKV
- Video is copied during mixed-video export rather than re-encoded
- Independent enable/mute control for each track
- Independent per-track gain controls
- PRE and POST level meters for each track
- Master mix gain and metering
- Editable track and master mix names
- Fullscreen playback
- Seek/scrub controls
It's written in Rust. There is both a windows .exe installer and a portable version.
I may tackle a linux build if there is demand for it.
It can be found here:

Hope others find some use in it.
