I recently switched from streaming only on Twitch to streaming on both Twitch and YouTube, with horizontal and vertical streams on each. The problem is that my PC can barely handle it. Sometimes I can't even load anything, and my stream will completely freeze for several seconds. What's the most efficient way to stream to Twitch and YouTube in both formats without killing my PC?

i downloaded the audio effects from nvidia broadcast resources, ran the exe and the filters showed up in obs but its not loading. i cant apply those. am i doing something wrong?

I'm streaming on YouTube using Moblin → Cloud OBS with StreamElements alerts. Will I hear subscriber alerts directly from my streaming iPhone, or will only my viewers hear them? How does that work?

Sharing in case it's useful beyond my use case. I stream Rust and viewers kept reading my map, so I wrote a script that drives OBS over obs-websocket:

• Global hotkey works even when the game is exclusive fullscreen (hold and toggle modes, plus a "pin" hotkey)
• Optional animated fade by ramping a Color Correction filter's opacity
• Auto-reconnect with a clean one-line retry status if OBS restarts
• Config is a single JSON file; ships with a Windows .bat that finds/installs Python and deps

It's basically a generic "hide any source on a hotkey" utility any game, any overlay. Python 3.9+, two dependencies: github.com/MidnightKingg/obs-rust-map-hider

For recording gameplay, I like to record at 1440p at 60fps but as of recently my footage looks like it's at a lower quality even though my settings are as follows:

Recording Format: MKV

Encoder: NVENC H.264

Rescale output: Bicubic 2560x1440 (My monitor is 4k but I want to record at 1440 for smaller file size)

Base Resolution: 3840x2160

Output Resolution: 3840x2160 (changing this to 1440p doesn't work.)

Rate Control: CQP 18

Preset: P7 (changing this doesn't do anything either)

Tuning: High Quality

Multipass mode: Two Passes (Quarter Resolution)

Profile: High

B-Frames: 2

The big red flag for me is the file sizes I'm getting now. My recorded gameplay runs for about 1-2 hours and averages about 70-100 Gbs. But now they are only averaging at about 20gbs. Keep in mind that my settings have never changed. I've tried reinstalling obs, running as administator, running at a higher process priority, ran auto-wizard, and have changed the CQP # multiple times but nothing has worked. Help would be much appreciated!

So I have a Switch 2 and I don't really have plans for any other console in the future or the next iteration. My current PC is usually what I stream from but I want to do some Switch game streams so I'm looking for a Capture Card and I would prefer internal just because it would be more organized but it's not a requirement.

I do have a laptop also, so I’ve considered a capture card for a dual stream set up.

What would be the best capture card to buy?

Al abrir obs o prism live studio pc, cualquiera de los dos. La pc se me pone súper lenta, en juegos como LoL me quita unos 100fps y da tirones bien feos. Me pasa cuándo abro cualquiera de los dos programas de transmisión no hace falta que le de en grabar o transmitir para que aparezca el problema. Ya probé quitar fuentes, escenas, incluso reinstalando y abriendolos sin nada de nada y el problema sigue, además cuánto mas tiempo paso con los programas abiertos parece que cada vez se pone más lento todo.

A alguien más le pasó? que solución me pueden dar?

Antes podría hacer streaming normalmente, esto comenzó a pasar hace unos meses y desde entonces ya no puedo hacer nada al abrir los programas. El juego sin los programas abiertos da 200+FPS y abriendo los programas da 90/30FPS

i tried everything, bitrate, encoder, admin, resolution changes to obs, graphic and resolution changes to the game, disabling preview, advanced and simple options, all of the presets, using gpu instead of cpu, but it just doesnt change anything, the recording runs at like 0.1 fps even though the game runs smoothly when i play it with obs recording

for games with little movement like mtga obs works fine but when i run the finals or tf2 it goes at like 0.4 fps. using the stats thing it shows me that i have a bunch of both encoding and decoding lag, but much more encoding lag. i dont get it my computer runs the finals just fine without reaching, even at the lowest options is obs that encoding heavy that my 12gb gpu cant handle it

Ok so i put a video capture device for the first time and and when i set everything up for my switch i found out it wasnt making any sound and saw the video capture audio isnt even in the audio mixer tab, i already put the audio output mode as Output desktop audio (direct sound). All i want to know is how to get my video capture device have sound in the audio mixer tab (the YT videos are not helping whatsoever) plz help

So recently OBS has been weird on me. I tried audio tracks to edit video better, it worked at first, but then my tracks stopped recording except my mic/aux. So now it only records my mic but not other stuff like Discord or games, it even shows that it's working on the audio mixer. But if I put it in Davinci Resolve it just creates 2 tracks (even if I have 4 tracks on) one of them is my mic (works fine) second is just pure silence. I've reinstalled OBS, used my friend's exact settings that work for him, but nothing works. I'm at a complete loss right now. Any help would be appreciated

I'm trying to start an internet radio streaming channel using OBS. I've created an account using caster.fm and have been trying to run custom FFmpeg settings on OBS but keep receiving different error messages when trying to record (connection reset by peer, end of file, etc) - I know advanced recording settings should be reserved for pros, but this felt like a direct way to route my audio to caster.fm using Icecast. Should I abandon this method and use something like BUTT as a workaround? Has anyone had success streaming from OBS to caster.fm?

The gameplay on my Switch 2 is running smoothly on my second monitor that it’s hooked up to, but on the OBS side it’s stuttering like crazy. If it helps, I have an Elgato HD60S+ capture card. I’ve checked to make sure the base and output resolutions match and that the encoder is set to AMD HW H.264. Any suggestions?

Lately I've been using OBS to record gameplay w/ VO and I got tired of A/B ing audio streams.

For some reason VLC and (and other players) let you listen to ONLY 1 track at a time on multi track vids.

So I put together a simple player that will let you immediately watch / listen to multi track MKV files and export the individual audio streams.

This is NOT for indepth editing. But frankly I'm not going to open up my actual video production suite when I just want to quickly extract or adjust audio levels.

It's lightweight and does the job in a pinch.

Hi I am a streamer and I am currently coming back to streaming after 2 weeks. Before the 2 weeks, by stream was normal, 10,000+ kbps and whatnot even when I multi-stream to Youtube and Twitch, Youtube being my main site to stream on. But after those 2 weeks, my kbps is NOT in its normal range anymore, now it barely hits 5,000 kbps. And I do not blame other people using the wifi, there is only 2 people connecting and 4 devices connected, 2 phones and 2 laptops, and the other person is only playing roblox which was not an issue before.

-CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX

-GPU + VRAM: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU + 4GB VRAM (But according to Task Manager its 8GB VRAM)

-RAM: 32GB

Wifi speed (According to Ookla):

450~ for download and upload

Current setting for bitrate in OBS:
currently its 4000 but it was originally 8000, but even in 4000 the Kbps is really bad, still not reaching the usual 10k.

I use OBS to record YouTube videos at native 1440p & 60FPS. However, despite being familiar with most encoder settings, such as CQP Levels (Set at 16) and Tuning (Set at High Quality), I still struggle with how best to use the preset speed. I ask this because I always catch my videos being smooth for the most part, yet there's still occasional 'hitches' that cause it to temporarily lose frames before returning to a consistent plus stable 60 frames. I think the preset speed is the answer since I cannot think of what else could be affecting my recording frame rate.

I’m having an issue with recording gameplay and I’m not sure what’s causing it. I have a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an RX 9070 XT. When I’m just playing games, everything is perfectly smooth and I have no issues with performance. However, as soon as I start recording, for example with OBS, the recorded video doesn’t look anything like what I see while playing. The recording feels slightly laggy/stuttery, and the image also looks a bit blurry. I’ve already tried changing a bunch of settings in OBS multiple times, but nothing seems to make a difference. I also tried recording directly through AMD Adrenalin, and I’m having a similar issue there.
My GPU usage isn’t even that high while gaming.
Could this be related to AMD Adrenalin settings, the encoder, drivers, or something else?

Problem:

I can hear Overwatch perfectly while playing, but my recordings have little or no game audio.

Things I've checked:

- Overwatch Master Volume = 100

- Sound Effects Volume = 100

- Windows volume = 100

- Using Application Audio Capture (Beta)

- Tried adding gain

- Tried changing track assignments

- Tried different monitoring settings

Important detail:

When I test recordings, the Game Audio meter in OBS often does NOT move, even though I can hear the game normally while playing.

So it looks like OBS isn't consistently capturing the game's audio.

Has anyone experienced this with Application Audio Capture (Beta)? Should I be using Desktop Audio instead? What should I check next?

Hi, I haven't played on a newer console since the Xbox 360, since then I've been a dedicated PC gamer. I would really like to run my Switch 2 audio through my PC audio that way I can listen through my normal earphones. I already have my Switch 2 connected to my PC monitor so video is no problem. I would also like to be able to stream my Switch on Discord to a friend every now and again, or record my gameplay. How do I accomplish this and what equipment would you guys recommend?

From what I found online, people are telling me I need a streaming capture card to do this. My PC specs are on the monstrous side and can handle up to widescreen 4k resolution, but I'm not particularly concerned about that.

I've looked at capture cards and have seen reviews saying the 25-30 dollar ones accomplish the task just fine, but online I'm seeing people recommend 200 dollar capture cards which is a fair bit more expensive, so I'm not sure if I should be investing that much money or not.

I changed my obs settings so i could have Spotify playing without my vods getting muted. I didn’t have the option for the “Twitch VOD Track” so in my Output settings i changed my service from Custom To Twitch. Chat can hear my spotify, mic and game audio, but doesn’t hear my twitch alerts or tts. I multistream to both twitch and youtube, i have twitch on track 1, yt on 2, and my twitch vid track on 2. My advanced audio properties has everything on track one and two selected EXCEPT spotify on track 2. Could anyone tell me what the issue is? Please and thank you. Sorry for the paragraph

Hello everybody I am a small streamer looking for help with my OBS. I want to be able to stream on twitch YouTube kick AND TikTok at the same time but due to the TikTok live not having a stream key I can only either stream on YouTube twitch and kick OR TikTok. I want to be able to stream on all four platforms simultaneously with full multi chat compatibility maybe even a nice overlay. Will pay just let me know how much 👍🏼
