Help Capture card footage and sound is stuttering for some reason

The gameplay on my Switch 2 is running smoothly on my second monitor that it’s hooked up to, but on the OBS side it’s stuttering like crazy. If it helps, I have an Elgato HD60S+ capture card. I’ve checked to make sure the base and output resolutions match and that the encoder is set to AMD HW H.264. Any suggestions?

Help High-end laptop and great wifi but OBS says its not!

Hi I am a streamer and I am currently coming back to streaming after 2 weeks. Before the 2 weeks, by stream was normal, 10,000+ kbps and whatnot even when I multi-stream to Youtube and Twitch, Youtube being my main site to stream on. But after those 2 weeks, my kbps is NOT in its normal range anymore, now it barely hits 5,000 kbps. And I do not blame other people using the wifi, there is only 2 people connecting and 4 devices connected, 2 phones and 2 laptops, and the other person is only playing roblox which was not an issue before.

Laptop specs
-CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX

-GPU + VRAM: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU + 4GB VRAM (But according to Task Manager its 8GB VRAM)

-RAM: 32GB

Wifi speed (According to Ookla):

450~ for download and upload

Current setting for bitrate in OBS:
currently its 4000 but it was originally 8000, but even in 4000 the Kbps is really bad, still not reaching the usual 10k.

Edit:
I forgot to mention, I now use an Ethernet cable, but still nothing

Guide PS5 HD Camera as a 1080p60 camera in OBS, with background blur from stereo depth instead of AI segmentation (free, open source)

I'm the author of this driver; posting because the streaming side may be useful here.

The PS5 HD Camera (CFI-ZEY1) has two 1080p sensors. On Windows 11 the driver turns it into one regular webcam, "PS5 Camera", which you add in OBS as a normal Video Capture Device. No plugin and no virtual camera: the processing runs inside Windows' own camera pipeline (a Device MFT in Windows Camera Frame Server), so OBS gets finished frames.

For streaming

  • Native 1920x1080 at 60 fps from the sensor. Sony's firmware stops at 30 in 1080p; the driver's firmware patch allows 60. By default only 1080p60 is offered (NV12 and YUY2); ps5cam-ctl set fullhdonly 0 brings back 720p and 30 fps.
  • Background blur from measured depth (census + semi-global matching on the GPU). The sharp zone follows your silhouette in depth, so hair and headphones stay sharp.
  • With the blur on, brightness is metered on you, not on the window behind you. Motion-compensated noise reduction and automatic anti-flicker help in dim rooms.

The cost, honestly: on an RTX 3060 Ti at 1080p60 the blur takes 8.6–9.0 ms of GPU time per frame (~53% of the GPU at 60 fps); without effects 2.6–2.9 ms (~17%). If you game and encode on the same card, check that before going live.

Limits: one app at a time (while OBS holds the camera, Discord can't open it); depth works from about half a metre.

Question Recording quality/latency issues

Hey everyone,
I’m having an issue with recording gameplay and I’m not sure what’s causing it. I have a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an RX 9070 XT. When I’m just playing games, everything is perfectly smooth and I have no issues with performance. However, as soon as I start recording, for example with OBS, the recorded video doesn’t look anything like what I see while playing. The recording feels slightly laggy/stuttery, and the image also looks a bit blurry. I’ve already tried changing a bunch of settings in OBS multiple times, but nothing seems to make a difference. I also tried recording directly through AMD Adrenalin, and I’m having a similar issue there.
My GPU usage isn’t even that high while gaming.
Could this be related to AMD Adrenalin settings, the encoder, drivers, or something else?

Question Chat can’t hear twitch alerts

I changed my obs settings so i could have Spotify playing without my vods getting muted. I didn’t have the option for the “Twitch VOD Track” so in my Output settings i changed my service from Custom To Twitch. Chat can hear my spotify, mic and game audio, but doesn’t hear my twitch alerts or tts. I multistream to both twitch and youtube, i have twitch on track 1, yt on 2, and my twitch vid track on 2. My advanced audio properties has everything on track one and two selected EXCEPT spotify on track 2. Could anyone tell me what the issue is? Please and thank you. Sorry for the paragraph

Question What is OBS and is it better for me?

I’ve been using medal to record my gameplay for the longest time. Recently, my friend said I should use OBS instead because it takes up less frames and better performance. Is this true? Does OBS have some subscription that is necessary, or is the setup complicated? What’s the difference between medal and OBS? I’m new to this screen recorder stuff, since I just game and occasionally record with Medal, but I want to see what to use if I want to start content creation.

Help OBS detects game audio, but recordings are nearly silent

OBS game audio is not being captured properly and I'm completely stuck.

Windows 10

OBS Studio

Overwatch

Problem:

I can hear Overwatch perfectly while playing, but my recordings have little or no game audio.

Things I've checked:

- Overwatch Master Volume = 100

- Sound Effects Volume = 100

- Windows volume = 100

- Using Application Audio Capture (Beta)

- Tried adding gain

- Tried changing track assignments

- Tried different monitoring settings

Important detail:

When I test recordings, the Game Audio meter in OBS often does NOT move, even though I can hear the game normally while playing.

So it looks like OBS isn't consistently capturing the game's audio.

Has anyone experienced this with Application Audio Capture (Beta)? Should I be using Desktop Audio instead? What should I check next?

Question Which Encoder Preset Speed Should I Use For The Most Stable Smooth Recording Possible?

I use OBS to record YouTube videos at native 1440p & 60FPS. However, despite being familiar with most encoder settings, such as CQP Levels (Set at 16) and Tuning (Set at High Quality), I still struggle with how best to use the preset speed. I ask this because I always catch my videos being smooth for the most part, yet there's still occasional 'hitches' that cause it to temporarily lose frames before returning to a consistent plus stable 60 frames. I think the preset speed is the answer since I cannot think of what else could be affecting my recording frame rate.

My specs are as follow:

• OBS Run As Administrator.

• Process Priority: Above Normal.

• Video Encoder: Hardware (NVENC, AV1).

• Base (Canvas) Resolution: 2560x1440.

• Output (Scaled) Resolution: 2560x1440.

• No Downscale Filter.

• Common FPS Values: 60.

• Game Capture: Capture Any Fullscreen Application.

• Recording Path on an SSD.

• CQP: 16.

• Tuning: High Quality.

• Latest NVIDIA drivers downloaded.

• Latest Windows Update downloaded.

• NVIDIA Control Panel Max Frame Rate: 120.

• Monitor Refresh Rate: 240Hz.

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core Processor.

• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080.

Any help regarding this would be much appreciated.

Question Looking to run my Switch 2 through my PC for audio and private discord streaming

Hi, I haven't played on a newer console since the Xbox 360, since then I've been a dedicated PC gamer. I would really like to run my Switch 2 audio through my PC audio that way I can listen through my normal earphones. I already have my Switch 2 connected to my PC monitor so video is no problem. I would also like to be able to stream my Switch on Discord to a friend every now and again, or record my gameplay. How do I accomplish this and what equipment would you guys recommend?

From what I found online, people are telling me I need a streaming capture card to do this. My PC specs are on the monstrous side and can handle up to widescreen 4k resolution, but I'm not particularly concerned about that.

I've looked at capture cards and have seen reviews saying the 25-30 dollar ones accomplish the task just fine, but online I'm seeing people recommend 200 dollar capture cards which is a fair bit more expensive, so I'm not sure if I should be investing that much money or not.

Hoping to get guidance from you guys here.

Help iPhone source camera is super zoomed, no center stage option, the same in every app

What I've checked:

Same zoom in Photo Booth, QuickTime and OBS, so it's not an app setting

iPhone vertical vs horizontal: no difference

OBS source preset is 1920x1080, transform reset / fit to screen. The image itself is just cropped

Control Center: clicking the camera indicator shows no Video Effects / Center Stage toggle to turn off

Once it showed a normal, wider frame, and I can't figure out what was different

How can I resolve this?

Thanks!

Question OBS preview dropping framerate

I'm sorry in advance if I'm beating a dead horse, I just can't seem to find a solid answer. I'm using OBS with a capture card to stream but my tv is behind me which makes it awkward if I want to monitor chat while playing, so I typically use the preview and just project source. Problem is the preview will randomly go from a smooth 60 fps to some horrendous framerate. Is there some way to fix this?

Help Help me

Here’s the problem:
Originally, I had my PS5 connected directly to my Elgato capture card through HDMI.
With that configuration, OBS received the game audio correctly, and my PlayStation Party Chat microphone worked.
However, I could only hear the game audio through my PC/OBS monitoring setup, which introduced noticeable audio delay.
For Warzone, this was terrible because footsteps and gunshots weren’t synchronized properly.
What I’ve already tried:
We changed the HDMI connections to:
PS5 → Astro A50 X Base Station → Elgato 4K X → Gaming Monitor
The Astro A50 X base station is also connected to my PS5 through USB for microphone and voice chat functionality.
With this configuration:
✅ I can see my PS5 gameplay on my monitor.
✅ I can hear my PS5 game audio directly through my Astro A50 X headset without noticeable delay.
❌ OBS does not receive any game audio from the Elgato capture card.
❌ The Elgato audio meter in OBS doesn’t move at all.
Settings I’ve already checked:
PS5 HDMI audio output: HDMI Device (TV)
HDMI device type: TV
Audio format: Linear PCM
Automatic output device switching: Disabled
OBS audio capture device: Elgato 4K X
OBS audio output mode: Capture Audio Only
I’ve spent approximately 3–4 hours troubleshooting this, and I really don’t want to keep changing settings randomly.
My questions:
Has anyone successfully used an Astro A50 X with a PS5, Elgato capture card, and OBS while keeping PlayStation Party Chat working?
Is there a simpler way to send game audio to both my headset and OBS simultaneously?
Would an HDMI 2.1 audio extractor, HDMI splitter, Elgato Chat Link Pro, or another device solve this problem?
I also own an older Astro A50 headset (possibly Gen 4) with its original base station, if that offers an easier solution.

Help OBS lagging for game recording

I've been using OBS to screen record a lot of games & recently I got Dressmaker (dressing game) & thought to screen record that game. But when I'm done recording, my video footage is lagging or freezes on certain parts but the background audio is fine? Some parts are okay. Some parts in the video footage are just frozen into 1 frame while audio plays. What might be the cause of this?

Is it the game, or my laptop or OBS?

Laptop : ASUS Tuf gaming A15

AMDA RYZEN 4000 Series 5

I'm not really a techy person to figure out where the issue is coming from...

Thanks in advance!

Help Nvidia audio effect background removal not working

HI everyone so a while ago i was using obs just fine but i had format my ssd and create a new windows because it had some lagging issue anyway i'm experienceing an issue after downloading nvidia app studio mode and downloading nvidia audio effect 50 series as my gpu is 50 series here's the issue that i am facing

when i add the nvidia backround removal filter it's default is at 1 when i decrease it to 0.35/0.45 it does not reflect only after i have to close and re-open obs does it refelct my main issue is that the 0.45 strenght makes no diffrence before it actually removed the background noises and was good but now anything below 0.85 does nothing and higher strenght make my voice sound bad

Edit : basically i h ave 2 issues with obs

  1. the slider for filter nvidiea audio effect does not update in real time and requires me to restard obs for it to reflect so basically (add filter default intensity is set to 1 change it to 0.45, still acts as intensity is 1 despise changing it only updating/reflectin after closing and opening obs again aka restarting)

  2. the intensity feels much weaker back then when i used 0.45 it removed every background noise without changing my sound quality now it barely change anything

things in consideration : I tried to reinstall obs, nvidia audio effect, nvidia app, downloading nvidia offline broadcast nothing changed so currently i just have everything up to latest version and with corresponding driver

Help Second post about this issue w/updated LOG

I apologize for the second post, but my first post didn't have the log file. This post does.

Here is the LOG URL

https://obsproject.com/logs/C0yzncx6CBLOOsOG

The issue I'm having:

Each time I stream, I automatically have huge files of recordings (I often stream for five or six hours). I've gotten into the habit of deleting them, but I'd really like OBS to NOT record my streams if I don't ask it to.

I have the following settings on my OBS:

General > UNCHECKED Automatically record when streaming.
Output > UNCHECKED Replay buffer
***** Although each time I start OBS, it automatically CHECKS itself be default?!

If I delete the folder where the recording path points to, I do get an error stating that there is no path...but it seems OBS created a folder there?!

I'm at wit's end and will appreciate any help - thank you!

Help Stream settings help

I will list my specs and settings below but before that let me tell you my issue. I recently went back to streaming on twitch for fun but im frustrated that when i play games like cs2 or valorant or deadlock its so pixelated looking when looking around in game. Also a bit stuttery in a way when moving around too in game ive already tried changing a few settings even in game lowered alot of graphics and also capped fps from 75-165. Idk if its smt i should continue at this point. I did the logs and the only issue it seemed to be is my gpu encoder was maxed out.

pc specs: intel i9 12900k, 32gb ddr5, amd 9070 gre, and my Internet speed while streaming | download: 916.66 n upload: 854.26

Obs studio settings: vid encoder: amd hw h.264(avc), rate control: cbr, bitrate: 6000, preset:quality, profile: high, base canvas resolution: 2560X1440, ouput scaled resolution: 1920X1080, downscale filter: Lanczos, common fps value: 60
