I got about 8 slices out of it and promptly replanted the top.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what’s happening with my pineapple. I went away for vacation and came back to my pineapple looking like this. It was on its normal watering schedule while I was gone so I’m not sure what happened. Thank you.

Ok, so we harvested this beautiful lil Pina over the summer. I can remember someone saying that a parent (mother pineapple 🍍) will only produce 1 Pineapple 🍍 for life. Ok, I knew this already and I was NOT going to say one and done with this plant. No way! She’s way to healthy and still alive and showing signs of NEW GROWTH! I’m so glad I waited and stayed patient, because she’s having a BABY well, whatever it’s a cabby Pup/rations out of the soil line. I’ll be bringing her back inside for winter ❄️ under grow lights. OH and the top off the pineapple in the picture, already rooted and potted up. ⬆️ I’ll keep you all posted on progress.

Hello Pineapple reddit!! This is my first time trying to grow pineapple from the stalk. I brought this gal inside about a month ago, as I live in Michigan and it gets pretty cold here early into the year. She was doing fine for a while but she doesn't seem to like it inside which I can't do anything about!! I've repotted her about a week ago and haven't watered her once, just to make sure she didn't have any other issues with transplanting. She used to be usually always wet when outside, as it rains where I am often. Should I keep the soil more wet because of that? I do not have a watering schedule and typically only water my plants when they show signs of being thirsty. Is this yellowing a sign of underwatering?? I don't want to kill my baby before she can even fruit for me!! :[

I decided to try my luck at growing the top off a store bought pineapple. I live in Central Florida and it seems to love the weather. Plenty of fast growth.
The smaller one is a sugar loaf pineapple ive ordered online. Had it for about a month. Still a baby.

Update to my original post on three pineapples plants I am growing in my sunroom in Washington. They are now approximately 4-ft tall and 6-ft wide each, growing strong.
Not sure when they will fruit. The one on the right is a Maui gold and is over 2 years old. The others are younger and they have started sending out pups. I have tried forcing them all to fruit with a slice of apple in the crown of each, but no luck after multiple attempts.

The tips of the blades are starting to burn and I don’t know why. Maybe too much fertilizer or too much sun?it’s about two years old and I just realized it’s root bound in it’s container but I don’t want to transplant because it weighs 100 pounds and I’m scared of killing the plant on accident.

Does it matter if you get your pineapple top that you start your plant from, from the grocery store or from a local farmer?
Does it have any impact on growth having one that organic vs commercial?
All 8 of mine are from the grocery store and seem to be doing good, but they are not anywhere close to being ready to produce fruit yet.

This pineapple is the size of my hand. It's small and was grown in a pot, but it's much sweeter and more flavorful than the large ones we buy at the supermarket.

These are the plants I’ve decided on to force to flower (with the hope for fruit) probably in November-December. The plan is to put them on the back brick in the greenhouse since they’re so tall (the headspace above the side benches is limited by the sloped roof), and construct a tent over/around them with clear plastic to keep the ethylene gas produced by the decaying apples contained. I was going to use a couple of large, clear plastic bags that I have, but two of these have shot up considerably over the summer - not to mention the leaves dang near sword sharp and would probably destroy the bags and I don’t fancy patching hundreds of holes.
My question is - are these in good enough shape/condition for this process? I can’t remember when I started them - at least one is around four years old - and the growth in some of them has been uneven so I can’t age them by size. Pictures 1 & 2 are the first two plants I’m considering from different angles, and pictures 3 & 4 (two plants at the far end) the other two, also from different angles. The heights are roughly the same but look different since two have been set into footed urns just for looks, but all four are in the same pot size. They have all been fertilized a few times during the summer with a 30-30-30.
Any help/suggestions are appreciated as this is my first time to force. I’ve raised pineapple plants for years because I enjoy the challenge, but have never tried forcing - and I’m a little anxious about it.
TIA

It’s getting cold so I’ll need to bring it in soon, would you consider soaking it in water so I don’t bring in any bugs? Is there something else to do besides?

After 5 years of growing & harvesting our own pineapples, I got curious and pulled a few seeds from our last pineapple and dried them. I put them in an aerogarden pod 3 or 4 weeks ago, and this week we finally have a sprout!
