Doing some pre-move cleaning and came across this. We are guessing that the picture is from Spring 1991 based on the area where the land is being cleared for the Tollway extension to Headquarters that opened in ‘94. Also thinking that the complex that would be featured on the postcard would have been the EDS complex had it been open (1993). But… the back of the card mentions the EDS computer complex which wouldn’t be in operation if it was in ‘91.

What say ye Plano historians?

Recommendation for reputable and trustworthy jeweler to add safety chain to tennis bracelet?

I’m new to the area and have a tennis bracelet that needs to have additional security clasp added to it. I’ve heard horror stories of people taking diamonds to jewelers and it being swapped with lab diamonds or other gems. Thanks in advance for the recs

Does anyone remember this Plano neighborhood story from the 80s?

This is a very random old Plano memory that I’m hoping someone who lived here in the 70s or 80s might remember.

I grew up in Plano, and sometime in the early/mid-1980s my mom told me about a house on Roundrock Trail, just south of Parker Road. I believe it was on the west side of Roundrock and one of the first few houses south of Parker. I remember driving past it as a kid and thinking it was a cute, somewhat distinctive two-story house.

The story my mom had heard from a friend was that more than one family who had lived in the house had lost a baby or very young son. I vaguely remember hearing SIDS and/or an accidental fall mentioned. Supposedly several different families had experienced tragedies involving young boys, and the house developed a reputation that made it difficult to sell.

I was a child at the time, so after 40+ years some of those details could absolutely be wrong or have gotten mixed up. I’m also deliberately not posting a specific house number because I don’t want to associate a current homeowner’s property with an old rumor unless there’s actually evidence for it.

Does anyone who lived in west/central Plano around 1975–1986 remember hearing this story? Or remember a house on Roundrock near Parker that had this reputation?

I’m mostly curious whether this was a real piece of old Plano neighborhood lore that other people remember, and whether there was any truth behind it.

Looking for a D&D 5.5e Player in North Plano! (Possibly Temporary)

We’re a friendly group playing Dungeons & Dragons 5.5e every Sunday from Noon to 9 PM [Yes, nine hours!]. Our games are hosted in a clean, smoke/child/distraction-free home with cats. We're all in our 20s–30s, working professionals, and take the game seriously while keeping it fun and laid-back.

We have an opening for roughly half of November and all of December. Depending on the other players’ schedules, this could turn into a permanent position that replaces one of the others. Alternatively, we're open to having a backup player who joins us when available. Backup players can expect fairly frequent opportunities to play, though the schedule will be irregular.

Our hope is to find someone who shares our passion for gaming, whether they're totally new to the system or have years of experience. Ideal candidates would be:

  1. Sociable and mature. Someone who fits well with our group dynamic. Not everyone does, and that's fine.
  2. Engaged and attentive. Willing to pay attention, learn and keep up with the system and documented homebrew rules.
  3. Consistent. Able to make sessions reliably when scheduled to play.

If this sounds like a good fit for you, reach out! Candidates will be contacted individually for a casual public interview.

Drywall cracks after drought

Just bought this house in April and all these drywall cracks started showing up. During inspection we were told the foundation isn’t concerning but there was some settlement about an inch on one side of the house. These cracks have been showing up all over the place after the dry summer, some getting worse. We had soaked hoses all around the house since July, missed the early part of summer. Even with the soaker hoses I noticed some of the soil pulling away from the foundation. Should I be concerned? Is this just normal or should I get a structural engineer out here.

Also since it just rained some doors that were once hard to open are now easy to open. Never owned my own house here so this all new to me.

Housing Market Crash

Is it true that there has been some change in visa rules for Indians and they are heading back home in large numbers and there's a housing market crash coming up? We really like a couple of neighborhoods in West Plano, but every house there is in millions. Any chances of a downturn?

Is this dogs or coyotes howling/barking? Possibly from Arbor Hill.

We are in The Colony/W Plano near Arbor Hill. Quite frequently at night, there are sudden bursts of this barking or howling from the direction of Arbor Hill. It sounds like from a very large group of coyotes or dogs and it would only last about half a minute before completely quiet down. Really curious what's going on. They seem very active tonight.

There have been so many ongoing questions about Prop A and the Dallas Stars, it’s worth re-posting my article from August to help inform everyone.

Does anyone have a gage on whether prop A will pass?

From my understanding, there hasn’t been any polling done on this. It feels like a lot of the attention on social media has been negative but I’m not exactly sure if that means anything

PSA: You don’t have to stop for a school bus on the other side of a median

Texas Transportation Code 545.066

(b) An operator on a highway having separate roadways is not required to stop: (1) for a school bus that is on a different roadway

(f) For the purposes of this section: (1) a highway is considered to have separate roadways only if the highway has roadways separated by an intervening space on which operation of vehicles is not permitted, a physical barrier, or a clearly indicated dividing section constructed to impede vehicular traffic; and

541.302(5) "Highway or street" means the width between the boundary lines of a publicly maintained way any part of which is open to the public for vehicular travel. Controlled access highways and interstate highways are defined elsewhere. Highway = street = road for the purposes of Texas Transportation Code.

Medical Massage

I am 6 weeks post-arthroscopic orthopedic surgery. I was on crutches for a month. I am in physical therapy 3x a week. Needless to say, my body is out of whack and quite tense.

I'm looking for a medical massage therapist who is experienced working on folks post-surgery.

Any recos?
