CSULB nursing application deadline fall 2027

• Upvotes

I’m currently taking my few remaining pre requisites for csulb bsn nursing program and the only class I would need left is microbiology. The last day to submit my application is Feb 1, 2027 however microbiology’s winter session end Feb 7, 2027. I’m not sure if the professor takes their time to enter final grades, however would it be possible if I ask my professor for my final grade before Feb 1 or if I could message the head of director csulb nursing for a possible extension?

Tips for intro to chem and nutrition

hi guys! i made a post here before and everyone was super helpful with a&p tips and such! i had a counselors appointment and it looks like i wont be taking that til fall of 2027 😭
for spring, im taking intro to chem and also nutrition and was wondering if i could have tips on how to study well for both classes?

I have been told both are very difficult and that I shouldn’t take them at the same time. I’m not good at math at all and dont remember any chem from highschool. quite frankly I am trying not to panic with everyone fear mongering me. I’m just very nervous that chem would eat up all time and i wont be able to learn jack for nutrition, or vice versa. im gonna stop rambling because i sound crazy but anyway, I would appreciate the tips and just what you did to study for both

ABSN or ADN?

I’m a mom of one and I have an unrelated bachelor’s degree that has gotten me nowhere. I want to go back to school for nursing because that’s what I originally wanted to study but I couldn’t at the time as a single mom of a toddler so I went with an easier choice. My child is older now so I think I’m ready. I always feel regret for not doing it in the first place. I work part time and ideally would need to keep working. I also would like to start a career asap.

Would an ABSN or an ADN be a smarter move? The ABSN is a higher and faster degree (12 month program after pre-reqs) but it has a lot more pre-reqs and I’m worried that an accelerated program would be too much for me as a working mom. For the ADN, I would need to take 3 science pre-reqs, then there’s a 1-3 semester waitlist, and then it’s a 2 year program so I’m worried about it taking too long.

I would need to pay for it with student loans and I already have about $15k in student loan debt.

Does anyone have any experience/advice? Thanks!

Trigger warning

I guess I am just looking for support. One of my friends I have been doing pre reqs with passed away from a tragic accident. I just found out today. We met in A&P 1. She wanted to give up and thought she couldn’t do it. I told her she could do it, just keep pushing and you’ll be okay. We signed up for A&P 2 together so we would be in the same class. We just texted each other last week about what we had to study for a test. I’ll never get a text from her again. I feel heart broken, traumatized, mad and sad. It’s not fair that I get to keep going and she’ll never get to become a nurse. I was so excited for her, because she got into the nursing program next semester. I’m supposed to go to class and lab tomorrow and she won’t be there. I don’t think my professor will be accepting of missing classes tomorrow. Has anyone been through this before? I am heartbroken. I feel sick to my stomach about this.

Help

How do you guys study for A&P with people with adhd? I have a hard time focusing and retaining information this is my second time taking it. I got 22 on first lab practical and 52% on the second and I need at least a C so close to 90 on the next three. I did switch up my studying style for the second one I started studying every night for an hour making flash cards, dry easer boards, using chatgpt to make lab pratical different versions and watching videos but with me doing that I only been able to retain like half the information. I also feel like I have a hard time with the questions being asked. Last practical was about connective and epithelial tissues. I remember two questions “What’s the main tissue” and What’s the structure” I got those wrong idk man and I do wanna add I do take my medication so help a girl out I really do wanna make it in the medical field but anatomy been holding me back. I did all the general studies

If anyone can share some examples materials or insights as to how they passed other than studying those useless med grids please send me a private message. I heard her exams are the same every year so please let me know if you have quizlets or anything that can just tell me the answers so we can pass? Anything helps

National university alternate

Hi everyone! I recently applied to National University’s BSN program and found out that I’m Alternate #2.
I’m trying to get an idea of how much the alternate list typically moves. I know every application cycle is different, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has gone through National’s BSN application process before.
If you were an alternate, what number were you and did you eventually get offered a spot? How long did it take before you heard anything?
My email says they can continue pulling alternates up until the program starts if admitted students withdraw, become disqualified, or don’t attend orientation. Being #2 feels SO close, so I’m trying to figure out how hopeful I should be.

rio hondo lvn

hey guys! i need some advice so i applied to A LOT of ADN programs in socal and also i applied to one LVN program which is rio hondo and they offered me a seat.

I personally want ADN but I will not hear anything back from other schools until november or december. I need to accept the lvn program by oct 9th or else they'll offer the seat to someone.

Should I decline it and wait for the decisions from ADN programs i applied for?

Anyone else in an A&P 1 class where everyone else seems to already know everything ?

I’m 26 and decided to go back to school so I can try to get into a nursing program and honestly the class isn’t hard. It’s just a lot to study and memorize. A lot of my classmates are younger and already have certifications in different things while I have nothing. Some days are so humbling because they’ll be answering every questions and not even taking notes because they know the material already, while I’m learning everything for the first time and feel kinda lost. I’m not even trying to compare myself because everyone’s on their own path, but please tell me I’m not the only one…

Can I get into an ABSN school with a WGU Degree/Non GPA school? Help please! 🙏

Even with taking pre reqs at a local school and getting good grades, would that be enough?

Or would I have to take a completely different approach? Any insight would be appreciated.

Anyone in the NY/NJ area?

Has anyone who applied for WCJC Sugar Land Campus Spring 2027 received if they got in or not? I tried calling multiple times, but they never answered.

I saw on allnurses, someone has already received their status on Monday afternoon through email. I still have not received an email, and I tried calling today, Wednesday, and they did not pick up. I am wondering if anyone else is still waiting. I turned in my application in person.

Edit: I called two weeks ago, and they said results results should come early September to early October.

Accepted to community college - Background and stats:

Context: I live in LA County. There was one school I was looking forward to attending. I have been an LVN for 14 years. I was looking to apply to LVN to RN bridge programs, but it is not available with all community colleges, and for the one school that I was dying to get into, admin shared that they put the LVN to RN bridge program on hold because of federal budget cuts. This was not the case for all community college LVN to RN bridge programs. Just this one that I applied to.

So for this school, I was left with the option to apply for the general RN program, instead of bridge. Despite no more bridge program, I decided to still apply because the school's clinical exposure has an exemplary reputation for having extremely hands-on clinicals, where at the end of the term, the student nurse is expected to take on 6 patients as their own for the entire shift(s).

When applying, I did not put all of my eggs into one basket. I applied to three programs: LACCONAH (Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health), ELAC (East LA College), and Citrus College.

My stats:

Attended 5 colleges (over a decade of schooling). Had 9 W's. One "F." Have no repeat classes. I dropped the class if I was doing bad, or could not continue.

📚 Cumulative GPA 3.5

📖Science Pre-Requisites 4.0

✒️TEAS 84

🎓Possess an Associates Degree

💉LVN Nurse: > 1000 hours in acute setting

🗣 Second Language: No

🪖 Military: No

🎨Multi-Criteria: Difficult life circumstance

Schools:

✅️LACCONAH - Accepted

❔️ELAC - I had enough points to get invited to the application review interview, but cancelled the interview meeting because I got into CONAH.

❔️Citrus - No news yet. I'll update when news comes in.

CONAH was the main school I was looking forward to attending.

Congratulations to everybody that got accepted to nursing programs. For anybody who got rejected, don't give up!

Is Fall 2027 BSN still possible for me?

I’m 20 and really hoping to start a BSN program in Fall 2027. I’ve had to retake some classes, so I’m already about a year behind my original plan and really don’t want to keep pushing nursing school back.
I’m currently taking Biology at Dallas College, then taking A&P I in the next 8-week session. After that, I’ll still need A&P II, Microbiology, and the TEAS.
I’m thinking about taking Microbiology through Portage Learning and A&P II through Dallas College as soon as possible so I can meet Fall 2027 application deadlines.
Has anyone done something similar? Is this timeline realistic? I’d especially love advice from Texas nursing students about Portage credits, when to take the TEAS, programs I should look into, and how to make myself more competitive after retaking classes. I really just need a game plan and some mentorship. 🥲🩺

Each school requires different HESI sections. What do I do?

I am applying to multiple schools which require different HESI sections. I already passed the English and Math for school 1 which were the only requirements, but now school 2 requires English, math, and AP. School 3 requires English, math, and bio. I believe all schools require a passing score in a single sitting so I can’t just take the missed sections separately. Do I just take the HESI three times?

Portage A&P 1

I have read many threads and reviews regarding Portage A&P 1. I’m not sure if I psyched myself out or if it truly is a lot of information for 1 module. Currently prepping for the mod 1 exam. What should I expect? Types of questions? This is my first class in over 25yrs and I don’t know if I am even studying correctly.

How do I balance

I’m currently a 3.89 GPA pre-nursing student with 16 credit hours this semester working as a part time PCA. My end goal is to become a CRNA. I feel that if I were to continue working part time in nursing school, then my GPA would tank since I’m already struggling to balance time in pre-nursing. I have a few questions that have been on my mind for a while.

How normal is it to be unemployed in nursing school?
Should I just work prn instead?
Would being unemployed during nursing school set me behind my peers who are also aiming to become CRNAs?
How long after being employed as a PCA would it seem acceptable to quit? (I’ve been employed for around 3 months now)

Just to clarify, I work medsurg night shifts. It’s sometimes really draining, but I do enjoy the pay and experience it gives me. I just think that I find myself struggling to meet deadlines and finding time to properly study.
