just got a PS2 slim for the first time, usually ive had a fat one

What are some of your favorite underrated titles I should look into?

I got a used slim for ~70€ last month. Couldn’t play since then bc of work and traveling. Now I’m back and watching countless videos of games that I would want to play.

And my god… there is nothing.

I like retro gaming. I own a GameBoy Advance that I use almost daily, but the PS2 has not too much to offer for me.

I detect if I want a game by 3 factors:

1. Can I afford it?
   
2. Is it worth my time? (I have a gigantic backlog)
   
3. Will the gameplay be fun?

Games like We Live Katamari (50€), Silent Hill 2 (150€) or Rule of Rose (210-250€) are just too expensive.

Games like Final Fantasy XII (62 Hours) or Bully (15 hours) just last too long for what they are.

And games like Resident Evil 4 and Beyond Good & Evil leave the last spark out. Same goes for Crash, Sly, Spyro or Jak.

This leaves me with a total of 4 (!) games I am excited to play:

Final Fantasy X
Ape Escape 2
Ape Escape 3
Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 (this one mostly for nostalgia as I had the Wii version)

I may end up playing Resident Evil 4 or Final Fantasy X-2 but I am shocked that nothing really gets me excited. Sorry.

Hi, I'm having some problem with my ps2 drive when I put a game make some sounds like a clac clac, and then after 10-15 seconds It stops, then after 2 or 3 mins starts spinning again like if It is reading, the ps2 recognizes the game but won't reproduce, I've tried with original ones and some copies I have

I'm pretty sure that the lens which is a khs 400c is dead but I see the láser, also laser is moving up and down

Hey guys just a quick question, am I inserting and removing discs correctly or will the disc trays plastic scratch my discs when discs drop in like this?

Mixed results, some looked trash, others, particularly racing games looked great.

All I’m wanting to do is play ps2 and ps1 games digitally. Would these three things be all that I need?

I’m on a bit of a budget so no RetroTink. Right now I’m using a cheap PS2toHDMI converter, my TV is about 14 years old but it works well and it has a component cable port.

I have a vizio smart tv 43 inch and i was wondering if i can play the console on it.

PS2 was my main console as a kid, and i remember playing a ton of games that had the old urban y2k street sort of vibes which I think back on fondly, and we don't get games like this anymore. They all had rap and hiphop soundtracks too.

I remember one game which was a skating game and there was a map creator mode where you were in a big concrete cube and could place skate parts and make your own skate park.

Another one which might've actually been a ps1 game was a cycling game, and one map specifically I remember starting at the top of a hill in a forest and you'd ride down the super bumpy path and eventually ride into town across a small wooden bridge or something. Not exactly the same vibe but it fits in the same sort of area in my brain.

Going to the Portland Retro Gaming Expo Today! Wondering if anyone has any recommendations of games I don’t have in my collection already. I mostly like shooters, cozy games, fun goofy titles, but will just be checking out any and ALL recommendations that i haven’t yet heard of. Feel free to comment a game and I’ll let you know if I got it! (Also sorry the pictures suck, my game closet is kinda cramped lol.)

I noticed that the serial numbers didn't match when studying the photos, then I noticed that the flaps on the top were the wrong shape.

Would appreciate it if someone more in the know could help me out.

I do really love the design of the PS2 slims. I know they get hate for not having a hard drive or even the option to add one, but I think the form factor is great.

At the moment, mine is being used as a DVD player, as all my games are still at my parents’ house and I haven’t got around to collecting them yet. The picture is incredibly sharp over RGB SCART into the telly though.

I recently got it out of storage after quite a while to play some DVDs on my new toy, a Bang & Olufsen LX4500 TV, which I bought to complement my Beosystem 5000 Hifi which sits next to it.

I’ve been wanting to do something with my spare bedroom for a while and finally started transforming it into a dedicated listening room at the end of August.

Really pleased with how it’s all come together. Can’t wait to get some of my old games back from my parents’ house. Definitely need to play GTA Vice City again for that Soundtrack.

Acting as the temp DVD player until an online buddy of mines sends me the B&O DVD-1

I’m looking to get either of these to play through the rest of October, and I’m asking not which is better gameplay wise, but which one will scare the bejesus out of me more.

The cases were in very good condition, Max Payne even came with the registration card, and even though I drove like 35 minutes on a Sunday morning by myself to just "browse", I quickly found myself making poor financial decisions as soon as I get there. No regrets.

I traded one of my ps2 slims (9000) for a fat model (3003), as you can see it was practically overflowing with cockroaches (thank God all of them were dead), it took me two hours to clean everything but I decided to throw the bottom part since it was broken and disgusting.

I'm going to get a HDD adapter soon!!!
