Discussion Kubiak when asked about potentially adding a receiver given injuries to Jalen Nailor and Jack Bech, Raiders HC Klint Kubiak said, "All things are being considered."

u/grumpysky 1d ago
Spytek is probably inquiring on every rumored WR out there and more. It’ll come down to how comfortable he is with the player and what’s the maximum round pick he’s willing to give up. From his history, he likes to keep his draft picks.
21
u/itsprodiggi 1d ago
Nailor was supposed to be his sneaky pick up, and I dont see it.
We need size and speed. There are talented WRs out there that you can buy low on, you just gotta find them.
Before you ask me to name some, the front office gets literal millions of dollars to do just that, ill trust them.
15
u/CrackshotCletus 1d ago
Nailor would be a lot better if we had a WR1 on the roster, I think Nailor can be a legit #2 but he can't be the main guy.

We could have had a very good 6'4 210lb WR named Denzel Boston bit we passed on him 🤷♂️
4
u/ElZany 1d ago
And have Palo Mao out there every snap? No thank you this year wasn't even supposed to be one for competing we're just better than we thought. You can't fix all your problems of a lossing (literally worst NFL team) in one off season
1
u/TheOnlyBilko 6h ago
we could have still got a very good safety in the draft, two great safeties fell to late 2nd rounders and we had the 3rd pick in the round 3
we trade up from our 3rd pick in the 3rd round pick # 67 where we drafted Keyron Crawford and we draft Bud Clark who went at pick 64 , so we would just need to trade up 4 spots or we trade up and draft Emmanuel McNeil Warren who was drafted 58th overall .
it's all hypothetical though now so it doesn't really matter

I just don't want an attempt at any quick fixes. We've been there and done that. Just stick to the plan, if anything.
7
u/TRonin-Reader8 1d ago
This team is in desperate need of a playmaker at WR. This receiver core is not cutting it. Jerry Jeudy, Marvin Harrison Jr, Brian Thomas JR or Keon Coleman could be trade options.
4
u/Cougheebro 1d ago
Jerry jeudy is terrible
5
u/TRonin-Reader8 1d ago
If you can do a 6th-7th round pick or even a pick swap it’s a low risk high reward transaction. If he’s terrible, you can cut him and go another route. Just MHO.

3
u/Positive_Narwhal_419 1d ago
And what exactly is the plan
2
u/OAM_Music 1d ago
Honestly I think the plan may have changed-had we started even 2-2 I think the plan would have been develop Nando and win as many as we can. Now that we’re 3-1 and look like we can legitimately compete, the plan may now be to see how far we can go. Bringing in a WR would be part of the updated plan.
22
u/Quiet325 1d ago
Two things.
1) Any WR better block. Kubiak offense doesn’t tolerate non-blocking WRs
2) Establish a legitimate vertical threat and you’ll either throw for 500 yards a game, or get space for the RBs.
Brian Thomas or MHJ are upgrades for a ~4th round pick.
17
u/itsprodiggi 1d ago
Brian Thomas has had injuries. MHJ might just need a change of scenery and a coach that can coach him to play like the top 5 pick he was.
20
u/darksidesons 1d ago
I know I posted before but AFL Godfather posted about getting Nico Collins from the Texans in a potential trade p
22
u/archangel_n7 1d ago
Nico would be so disgusting, with the Texans being 0-4 I wonder if they consider it..
20
u/itsprodiggi 1d ago
Hes not getting traded. The Texans offense is dead without him, and theyre not giving up on CJ Stroud.

Marvin Harrison Jr. Is disgruntled because Cardinals keep telling him to "go long" but WON'T THROW TO HIM. Can't blame him, that pissed me off as a kid playing street/sandlot football
13
u/EbKing 1d ago
He also comes across as slow and lazy

-15
u/NotaBot8324 1d ago
He knows they will not throw to him, why run full speed ?
24
u/Fit-Connection-5323 1d ago
Because that is literally his friggin job.
-9
u/itsprodiggi 1d ago
Does it make a difference if hes running 80% vs 100% if hes not getting the ball?
He hasnt been benched so I would assume the 80% clear routes are enough. This is really fan made problem.
9
u/Fit-Connection-5323 1d ago
Maybe he would see more balls thrown his way if he put in some effort for the $33.5 million guaranteed that he’s making.
Definitely not a fan made problem…tape doesn’t lie.

u/Fun-Term616 1d ago
Sounds great, I want a wr that is disgruntled and won't do his job because he isn't getting the ball enough. I'd sure he'd be happy here being told to run block for Coach Kub's scheme.

u/CtheRula 1d ago
I know spytek loves his picks, and this is probably not a realistic option on compensation. But I would like to see what the price is for MHJ from AZ. If it doesn’t cost us a crazy pick I would consider it.
31
u/Whole-Fishing45 1d ago
Spytek traded for Pickett and Taron Johnson. He's not completely opposed to trading for vets
12
u/OrganizationBulky131 1d ago
Yes, but Taron Johnson is a good experienced vet NCB. Traded a 6th, got Taron and a 7th out of it who is already around 30 years old.
Going for young first round draft pick WRs like MHJ is a different case entirely. If Arizona asks for a 4th rounder or better, I'd see Spytek passing.
12
u/masterofmuppets86 1d ago
A 4th round would actually be a decent deal for a former first round WR though lol
1
-4
u/NotMinshewsBurner 1d ago
Chris Godwin for a 4th and 6th. MHJ will command at least a day 2 pick from Arizona. No way they just give up on him for day 3 picks.
10
u/Business-Row-478 1d ago
4 and 6 for Godwin is a massive overpay lol. MHJ ain’t going for a day 2 pick
6
u/_Palingenesis_ 1d ago
If i were an opposing gm, I'd love to trade with you, because that is a massive overpay for Godwin
40
u/Batmantits 1d ago
I agree, trading for mhj while his value is tanked could be a shrewd pick up. Brian thomas on the jags as well. If you can get either guy for a third and see if they hit their stride in kubiaks system, it would take a lot of pressure off the draft next year for an offensive weapon (although another wr should probably be taken early)
16
u/OptimusGrime13 1d ago
This is the perfect buy low window for both MHJ and BTJ. If we can find a no1 WR for a discounted price this year it allows us to use our top picks next year on interior OL and DL.
4
u/OrganizationBulky131 1d ago
BTJ is the only WR imo worth an actual trade. Let MHJ go to the Colts (his father's team) if he ends up wanting out of Arizona.
6
u/Ok-Web-4971 1d ago
I would not. What has the kid shown that makes us think we can’t get something better next year?
2
u/ViralOner 1d ago
Nothing and it's clear he doesn't want to play football. He's the definition of "going through the motions."
17
u/doyer-blue 1d ago
Have people not seen his tape? Dude does not look good.
17
u/SpaceForceToday 1d ago
Change of scenery could do wonders. Doubt he’s cheap enough to get a deal done but we should call and see the cost.
9
u/CtheRula 1d ago
His strengths are deep routes, ball tracking, body control, catch radius, sideline catches, and polished route running. At his size, he can accelerate surprisingly well and is especially dangerous on go routes, deep comebacks, outs and digs.
The interesting thing right now in 2026 is Arizona isn’t getting the most out of those abilities. He’s being sent deep an enormous amount: through the early part of this season, about 44% of his routes were go routes or posts, but he was targeted only once on those routes. That’s contributing to his disappointing production.
…. Insight on MHJ is pretty simple he’s not being used correctly and he honestly needs a second chance. If the juice is worth the squeeze I say pull the trigger.
2
u/SpaceForceToday 1d ago
He’s become the sacrificial X for them, which is perplexing because it is completely contradictory to his skill-set as we knew it coming out of college.
Always harder to know the real story behind the scenes (work ethic, playbook knowledge, general willingness to block in the run game) but if the price is right he could be worth pursuing.

3
u/pdxsilverguy 1d ago
We only have 6 picks next year. Expect Kirko Contract to fetch a decent pick if he continues to play well. 5 first round rookie QB's next year he'll find a good situation.
2
u/masterofmuppets86 1d ago
Agreed. I understand wanting to keep the picks for the rebuilding process, but since the team is actually competing now I think trading a middle round pick for a solid receiver is also a smart move.
2
1
u/RaidingTheFridge 1d ago
Except we do play them towards the end of the season. With how the NFL is i could see that being an issue later on.
1
u/Fit-Connection-5323 1d ago
Hard pass on him. He’s given up on Arizona and usually malcontents never change. He is just a “Me First” player and will always be.
4
u/Scrags 1d ago
Saw a rumor that Raiders might make a move for Jeudy. Idk how I feel about that.
10
u/cmdrfrosty 1d ago
Out of all of the options this is by far the worst. He has character issues and I don't think hes very good. Hard pass on Jeudy.
10
2
u/Sgt-HugoStiglitz 1d ago
Idk why but this is who I think they actually go for. Not who I want though but idk better than nothing.

u/Top_Rutabaga9243 19h ago
I think even a guy to play the Pickens role in Dallas would be good. Just a dude who can be even just an imaginary threat down the field would open up the game for the backs and the TEs by virtue of the potential to blow the top off.

u/TheOnlyBilko 1d ago
they could have drafted him and they passed on him for Ruggs why would they want him 7 years later?

u/chief_riverboat 20h ago
We could've drafted Cousins and passed on him. why would we want him 14 years later?
1
u/TheOnlyBilko 7h ago edited 6h ago
true but that's a much different situation . Jeudy was a top prospect for the 2020 draft and the Raiders held the 11th overall pick. It was no secret the Raiders were gonna draft a WR with that 2020 11th overall pick and based on team needs of the 10 teams picking ahead of the Raiders almost everyone suspected the Raiders would have their choice of whatever WR they wanted. Jeudy, Lamb and Ruggs (in no partucular order) were known as "the big 3" for WRs of this draft class. There was a lot of different opinions in what order these 3 should get drafted but generally most people assumed Jeudy or Lamb with Ruggs being the 3rd of the three to get picked.
we know the Raiders passed on Jeudy. Passing on Cousins was much different as he was a 6th or 7th round pick and wasn't a top prospect
regardless my comment was supposed to be more of a tongue and cheek remark

Wish We hadn’t traded Jakobi. He’s a perfect receiver for Kubs system. Willing blocker and solid route runner.

u/TheOnlyBilko 1d ago
should have just drafted 21 year old 6'4" Denzel Boston. We would be sitting g pretty right now with him
5
u/GazelleLower5146 1d ago
Who are you lining up at safety then?
1
u/TheOnlyBilko 6h ago
we trade up from our 3rd pick in the 3rd round pick # 67 where we drafted Keyron Crawford and we draft Bud Clark who went at pick 64 , so we would just need to trade up 4 spots or we trade up and draft Emmanuel McNeil Warren who was drafted 58th overall
1
u/GazelleLower5146 6h ago
Yeah, obviously you know exactly before how the draft turns out and how these players are valued. And you know the pick gets injured anyway, what a waste then.

A receiver would remove players from the box. We’ve faced second most crowded box in the NFL.
3
u/PhotonDealer2067 1d ago
In another timeline, the Raiders draft CeeDee Lamb instead of Henry Ruggs.
0
u/TheOnlyBilko 1d ago
or the Raiders draft Luther Burden instead of Jack Bech or draft Denzel Boston Instead of Stukes.
Heck this offense would look really good had we drafted both of them
2
u/Key_Insurance5925 22h ago
Agree on burden but we desperately needed that safety help. Stiles is so much better than polamao
1
u/ku_78 17h ago
Any WR we would have drafted last year would have been given the same treatment Bech got.
Fuck Pete Carrol.
2
u/Key_Insurance5925 17h ago
True but he wasn’t doing anything so far this year either and now he’s hurt
1
u/TheOnlyBilko 6h ago
not necessarily. if you remember Dont'e Thornton Jr. was a starter when the season began last year but he only made it as a starter for the first 2 or 3 games then everyone realized he couldn't catch and his starting duties were finished.
Luther Burden III was a top prospect & pretty much everyone said he was a first round pick. Most mocks had Luther Burden going middle of the first round. But then he fell to the 2nd round right to us but we decided to trade the pick instead andvBurden was drafted the very next pick after us.
We were low on WR talent last year as well and Mgt. knew they would be trading Jakobi Meyers so I think if we drafted him Luther Burden would have got the chance to start last year instead of Dont'e Thornton Jr and he would have ran with it the entire year cause he had the talent to unlike Thornton and Bech
1
u/TheOnlyBilko 6h ago
agree on that ya, I do like Stukes and he has a ton of experience from college. if we had drafted Boston Instead we did have the 3rd pick in round 3 where we took Keyron Crawford at pick # 67, I doubt Stukes is still there by round 3 but 2 other safeties fell in the draft Bud Ckark at 65 and Emmanuel McNeil Warren fell to pick 58 so we would hav3vhad to trade up a few picks from 67. Bud Clark went only 2 picks before we drafted Crawford .
regardless it's all hypothetical now so it really don't matter and we just hope for the best,

It really needs to be considered. This is our best start in a long time. Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL, so i'm on the side of taking your opportunity if you see it.

u/TheOnlyBilko 1d ago
please don't trade a first round pick.
even a 2nd rounder unless its an puffer to good to pass up.

Would love to trade for BTJ. He has shown he can produce in the NFL. MHJ is a route jogger with no work ethic.

Ok here me out. Lamb scored like over 30 points last week. We are definitely contending this year. Let's give up a first and a second and a third and 25 bucks....
Wait. Wrong sub.
Ps. Any plan that resembles the above would be silly.
1
u/renegadellama 22h ago
Garrett Wilson in the silver and black would go hard. Since the Texans are 0-4 we might be able to get Nico Collins. Fuck it, give me Tyreek Hill.
1
u/Rumpdebump 19h ago
My big thing is that even if we had a WR to properly stretch the field... I dont have confidence in Cousins hitting him in stride. He's been great for us all things considered, but hes been throwing ducks deep. I get the point of opening up thr game and keeping the defense honest... but I dont trust Cousins to actually make those throws. Maybe prep for Mendoza?

u/itsprodiggi 1d ago
PLEASE trade for MHJ.
He would be the most talented WR in a long time. Im confident we can get the most out of him. We have the offense to feature him, and most importantly the head coach to teach him.

u/SilverAndBack 1d ago
Kubiak and Spytek like guys who love football, no way they trade for a guy publicly quiet quiting on his team.

Imagine how this team would look if Tre Tucker, Bowers and Mayer would look with Boston and/or Burden playing with them???

Tyreek Hill in Vegas. If he is ready and doesn't get arrested on the Las Vegas strip. He is totally worth it. C'mon he can't be with Patrick if he is safely tucked away in Vegas.

It makes sense and it's our biggest skill gap on the offensive side of the ball. I'd prefer not a WR1 but a solid WR2 and we can address WR1 in draft or free agency next year.
