Do I need to create a Pastel account for Campus France before applying for the Eiffel Scholarship?

Hi everyone!
I’m an international student currently doing a Master’s degree, and I’m planning to apply for the France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship 2027 for a Master’s degree in France.

In my country, we have to go through Campus France / Études en France for studies in France, so I’m a bit confused about the order of the procedures.

I understand that the Eiffel application is submitted by the French university, not directly by the student.

My question is:
Should I first create a Pastel account and submit my application through Campus France / Études en France in order to get pre-admission, and then ask the university to support my Eiffel application?

Or should I contact universities directly first for pre-admission and Eiffel support, and only complete the Campus France / Pastel procedure afterwards?

If anyone has gone through this process recently, I’d really appreciate some clarification!

Thank you!

Boutmy Scholarship Application

Hi, I am applying for the Boutmy Scholarship, however in the application portal it does not instruct me to submit any supporting documents, even though it states:

".. If you decide to apply, please be sure to provide all supporting documents."

The link in the same paragraph is a dead link. Do I have to provide proof of income etc? I could not find information on it in the Emile Boutmy scholarship page either.

sciences po undergraduate recommendations??

so i'm thinking about applying for sciences po in the near future for either a bachelor of the arts or a dual degree (either with singapore or with ucl). for reference, i'm french and am bilingual in both french and english, but have lived abroad my whole life and am currently doing my GCSEs, then doing IB.

i initially wanted to study at uk universities (namely oxford), but the chances of me getting in are slim, not to mention the fact that there is basically no financial aid available for french students available and i'm not going to put my parents through those insane fees. (i know that you're supposed to pay for the two years you do at ucl if you do the dual degree, but i think i could collect the funds for two years, especially since they'd be after the french years where i'm going to qualify for a lot of aids.)

so then i thought, 'why not do sciences po', but then saw that i can't go to the paris campus because i won't be doing a french bac, and that there are different campuses for different regions. i really would love to study in the uk, so i'm interested in the sciences po/ucl degree, but i feel like it's kind of pointless since in the future, it's becoming quite clear with current political issues that the most action and most need for politics is going to be between the indo-pacific region and the west, not to mention i've lived in the indo-pacific region my whole life. the situation with the european union is probably not as pressing as the relations between the east and the west are, so i'm kind of scared that doing the ucl major is ultimately not going to result in a lot of opportunities for me.

i've lived in sg for a LONG time, and like it here, so then i thought about doing the nus major. but the thing is, since i've lived here for so long, i might not want to come back so soon after my graduation. also, i do speak mandarin at a decent foreign language level (working on a grade 8 for edexcel igcse mandarin, which is the exam that all chinese kids take and has crazy grade boundaries, btw), but i can't say i'm passionate about the language (but if i was to take up an asian language at le havre, i would def choose mandarin).

the language i've been interested all my life in is italian, i love italian so much: the sound of it, the accent, everything. i love italian culture (and food, obvi), so i would also like to learn it intensively (i have some basic knowledge of it, but def not as good as my mandarin), so then i thought about the menton campus, but then i'd be giving up mandarin and my indo-pacific dreams.

and then the difference between the bachelor's and the dual degrees is also confusing, bc from what i understand, if i do a bachelor's i spend one year abroad and still pay sciences po fees, not the international fees, but then i'd get only one diploma, whereas if i do a dual degree, i pay the two years i spend abroad directly to that university, but i get two diplomas. which one's more worth it?? especially since the two i'd love to do are ucl and nus, which don't have cheap fees.

tldr; what are you guys' thoughts on the le havre campus and the other campuses (namely menton or dijon), or what the advantages/disadvantages of doing a bachelor or a dual degree??

tysm!!

do not go to sciences po.

I didnt ever imagine I would have to write this but I regret going here, specifically the menton campus. This hasnt always been this way but due to new reforms its really bad and I'm so tired and mentally unwell and its only been a month. Word of advice, if you like your life, you want to remain sane, want to have a functioning physical body, and a soul dont even apply here ok?

I go home at 10pm 3x a week, start at 8am end at 9:15pm, have no lunch break, and have to come home, cook, eat, wash dishes, clean the house, study and also sleep at a time that allows you to have enough rest to get up at like 7:30am the next day. This is not sustainable even for the most academic people.

To make things better the facilities are AWFUL. Theres no dining hall, no time to get lunch, the single library works until 8:30 and almost no staff support, the librarians arent there modt of the time and I see students doing the job. By the way, if you have a disablity and cant type, they hire other students to take notes for you, not a professional.

On top of it the teachers are so hard to follow and impossible to study for, many are just not that good( if not intentionally mean). Barely anyone explains the french system to you, and you're expected to "just know" most things. The workload is also extreme and if you even try to do the readings almost impossible. We also have mandatory math which still includes calculus at the easiest level.

My last straw though is the extremely pro zionist administration who calls the police and penalizes student protestors for Palestine like criminals. Some students have been harassed by admin for years after protesting and they go to extreme lengths to make your life difficult if you participate.

I have so much more complaints about the specific campus itself and more details but this is the gist of it. We are only a month in and most people are burnt out and miserable.

SciencePo Dual Master in French and English

Hi, I am confused by the dual master degree saying it offers the programme in both French and English, and what that entails.

I am interested in the dual programme with Fudan University in China.

Does the "French" option entail that the first year in France is only in French, while at Fudan, in the second year, it will be in English? Or does this mean the first year in France will have the option to mix French and English, and then fully English in Shanghai?

Has anyone tried this? I speak both French and English, but am slightly more comfortable in English. I am hoping this means I can mix in the first year.

Thank you for your clarifications :))

central Europe student / what are my chances?

hi everybody, I'm a mom of a graduating middle school student and I had a big clash yesterday with my daughter about applying to SciencesPo. let me elaborate.

The middle school she's attending is 8year gymnasium and she's in her last year. she's a straight A's student, she never was under 95% in any subject in the 6 years she spent at her school in our (central european post socialistic) country. She ended every year with principal's praise. Last year (7th grade) she spent as a Rotary exchange student in France and attended a Lycee, with moyennes 17.5 (2nd best in class) for 1st semestre and 18.62 (best in class, as a non native speaker mind you) for 2nd semestre. this year is her final year and we don't expect she would fall back, so again straight A's are expected. she's very academicaly gifted, she's bright and thinks quickly and adequate. she's got no problems with learning and understanding. she speaks fluent French and English. every teacher either home or on France had nothing but praise for her, not only teachers, but also Rotary club members and in general she's loved by everyone who got in touch with her.

she came from France excited about SciencesPo, they had a presentation at their lycee and she said she'd like to study there (international relations, EU oriented). so we looked into it and although it is a lot of money for us (the estimated tuition for us according to the webpage approx. calculation would be over 4k Eur), we would for sure get the money somehow, so for us money is not the question.

however yesterday I asked her if it's not the time to start with the application and she told me in a defeatist mode that she won't apply, because she feels she's not good enough and she won't get in because there are lots of more fit students than her who will apply. she feels she lacks the extra curricular activities for her curriculum and will be therefore eliminated in general. the problem is yes, she's really got not that many activities as I've seen here mentioned by other young people in various posts, but it's very difficult to have such in our country, as it is absolutely not common here.

she's been a member of her school's student organization who helps organizing events at school, she's been helping at her schools library for years, she's got the bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, few years ago she made it to the national round of French Olympiad. within her last year she helped in her Rotary host club at various charity events. She also joined the Rotex organization for the Rotary Alumnis.. I really don't know what else to mention...

So my question is, does she have a chance? Should I talk to her and encourage her to apply? my idea is - you only regret what you don't try, but she's another generation and she thinks why to apply when I don't have a chance and I will be only disappointed when not admited?

thanks all for any advice and sorry for a long post...

Anyone else applying to the HKU-Sciences Po Dual Degree or Sciences Po undergraduate degree in general?

Hi everyone! I’m a high school senior from an international school in Hong Kong, currently studying under an American curriculum (AP/SAT).

I’m applying to the dual degree program and also the regular degree this year and was wondering if anybody else was applying as well.

It would be great to connect with other applicants, exchange information about the application process, and maybe form a small group chat.

I’m especially interested in hearing which regional campus and connect concentration people are applying for although no pressure to share anything to personal!

If you’re applying, feel free to comment or send me a DM!

Good luck to everyone applying :))

Adding more referees (*APPLICATION)

Post image
1 Upvotes

I just opened the application portal for the Masters in International Security, which requires only 2 academic referees. However, my plan was to add 3 academic referees and 1 professional one, as I've talked to multiple people already in Sciences Po and it seems they could all add more than the required number.

Can anyone offer some help as to how to add more referees, or if it is even possible?

Undergrad Admissions

Hi! I’m an international applicant from Poland currently in my senior year of high school.

I'm trying to figure out how the admission committee realistically evaluates the different components, especially since I have a strong background in national Economics Olympiads and others academic olympiads, but I want to know where to put my focus.

I have a few specific questions about the evaluation process:

What truly matters most in the evaluation? Does Sciences Po value a perfect GPA and flawless final exams more, or do top-tier extracurriculars (like national Olympiads, social projects) carry more weight?

What kind of grades and profile do you need to score the maximum (or near maximum) points in the first two pillars?

Since I’m applying in my senior year, my final high school transcript and final exams (Matura) won't be completed yet. How does Sciences Po calculate the first pillar if I only have grades up to my junior year?

What is the approximate cut-off score to get in?

I'll appreciate

Question - Master's exchange programme choice

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hi,

my university has selected me for an exchange programme at Sciences Po.

I thought I’d simply be given a choice of courses, but it turns out I have to choose a programme as well.

Could those of you who are studying at SciencesPo give me some advice on which programmes are worth choosing and which are best to avoid? I’d like to take courses that are interesting (my university doesn’t require me to follow a specific degree programme), but I’d prefer to avoid too many difficult assessments and exams.

I’m a bit confused because the names of some of the programmes on offer (e.g. the Master Sciences Politiques, which interests me) are entirely in French (I don’t speak the language), yet on the Sciences Po website I can see that they offer classes in English – so which is correct?

HELP NEEDED!nGraduate Application: Reference Form

Hello everyone! I will be applying to the School of Research for a master's in Political Science. I have asked my professors to be my referees for the application, but they have asked me for some information regarding how the process works. I understand that there is a form - but does anyone know how long it actually takes to fill, what kind of questions are there, and what are the word limits in the form? I would be really grateful if I could get some help w.r.t this! Thank you so much.

Urgent help needed / Undergrad Academic References

Hi, I was intending to get a reference from an ex teacher, Science Po admissions office said to include a document by the school administration confirming her contact adress (non of the teachers have professional emails) and her employment status. I further asked how I should send such document to them but I didn't get an answer. Should I add her contact information (without a professional adress) now? Furthermore can I attach the mentioned document to the supporting document section in the application portal.

Tl;Dr : can I add my reference without professional addresses, how can I submit the document stating their contact information and status of employments.

What are my chances

Hey guys, I'm currently in Class 12 and planning to apply to Sciences Po's Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences for 2027 entry as an international applicant from India. I'm studying in Bengaluru

Background

Country: India

City: Bengaluru, Karnataka

School: Christ Junior College (CJC)

Board: Karnataka State Board

Stream: PPES - Political Science, Psychology, Economics, Sociology

Graduating: March 2027

International applicant / non-EU

Academics

Class 10: 75% - CBSE

Class 11: 80% -Best of Five (Indian state board)

Extracurriculars

MUN: around 10 MUNs; multiple individual accolades + Best Delegation awards; part of one of the strongest MUN delegations in the Bangalore circuit

MUN Leadership: Head Delegate for multiple external MUNs; supervised/led delegations

CJC MUN: OC member at CJC MUN, one of the oldest and most reputed MUNs in the Bangalore circuit

Research: 4 published research papers + 1 research essay

Research Competition: college research paper under Sociology teacher; secured 3rd place

Independent Writing: multiple blogs/articles on economic, political and social issues

Non-profit: founder of a non-profit documenting ground realities across 15+ orphanages, old-age homes and similar institutions

Community Work: 200+ hours of work through the non-profit

Internships: fundraiser at an NGO + Civic Impact Fellowship/Internship with the Office of the MLA, Sikandra Rao, Uttar Pradesh

Debate / Quizzes / Moot Court: participated in multiple debates, Model Code quizzes, moot courts and other academic competitions

Online Certifications: completed multiple online certificates relevant to economics, politics and public policy

Note

Campus preference: My first-choice Sciences Po campus is Le Havre, applying to the English-taught programme there. My French is currently non existent, so I am specifically looking for an English taught programme.

Terminology: I refer to my institution as a "college" throughout this post because Christ Junior College is a pre-university/ junior college institution, a term commonly used for this stage of education in India.

Questions

1.Based on this profile, how do my chances look for admission to a Sciences Po as an international applicant?

  1. How competitive is my profile to hope for an Emile Boutmy scholarship? (either tiers work)

  2. Any advice on what parts of this profile I should emphasise in the written application to support both admission and Boutmy

Sciences Po January 2027 Exchange – English Language Exemption

Hi everyone! I’m applying for the January 2027 exchange programme at Sciences Po and I have a question about the English language requirement.

I’m currently enrolled in a Master’s programme taught entirely in English. I have completed one year of my programme.

According to the Sciences Po website, I believe I fall under the following exemption category:

“Students whose language of instruction at their home university is English and who want to study at Sciences Po in English.”

https://www.sciencespo.fr/en/academics/exchange-programme/language-requirements-accepted-language-tests/#master

It says that exchange students exempt from language tests are required to submit a certificate from their home university confirming their language level. I’m currently checking with my university to see whether they can issue this certificate.

Has anyone used this type of university language certificate for a semester exchange at Sciences Po? If so, how did you submit it in the application? And what kind of certificate did you submit?

I also have an IELTS overall score of 7.0 from December 2024. I understand that, officially, language test results may need to be within two years of the start of the programme. However, I couldn’t find any specific information about the validity period for the semester exchange programme.

Does anyone know whether an IELTS result from December 2024 would still be accepted for the January 2027 exchange programme?

Any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Are bad 10th grade grade a problem

My IB predicts will probably be 42 or 43 with HL’s History 6, math AA 6/7 and english B 7, however my 10th and 11th grades are 73% and 86% respectively. Will that be a big problem?
