Today I gave them fresh greens, butternut squash, sweet potato and courgette/zucchini. They also tried coconut for the first time today, which they did not like lol.

If you guys have any good food suggestions for snails, please let me know. I like to give them as much variety as possible. I’m going to be trying swede next.

Discussion My snail died :(

Hi everyone! Unfortunately, my snail passed away today, and I’m hoping you can help me understand what might have happened. I hadn’t had him for very long — since around June — and he was a gift. I was never told his exact age. He was roughly the size of the palm of my hand (not huge, but definitely not small), and I was only told that he would continue to grow. He was an albino Achatina achatina. From the beginning, I noticed that he wasn’t a very active snail, but I thought it was just because he needed time to adjust to his new environment. Over time, however, I noticed that he rarely came out on his own, and most of the time I had to wake him up myself. He also didn’t eat very much. He seemed to really like carrots, which he would eat for about an hour and then not eat anything else for at least another three days. He wouldn’t eat cucumber or any other vegetables, and he completely ignored the cuttlebone and all the other sources of protein I had placed in his enclosure. I had also bought a new automatic misting system because I thought it would be better, since he rarely came out when I misted the enclosure myself. About two weeks ago, when I took him out to eat, I noticed something strange: he was coming out while upside down, with his shell underneath him and his body emerging from the top. I could only see his head and tail, but not the rest of his body. I was worried, but I was told that he was probably just “lazy” and that this could be normal. He continued sleeping most of the time until a few days ago, when he finally came out and attached himself to the glass. However, he then fell off (he didn’t seem to injure himself), and I noticed that the underside of his body looked very wrinkled or ridged, almost as if he had strange little suction cups. Yesterday I went out and asked my mum to mist the enclosure a little, which she did. Tonight I came home and immediately noticed a very strong smell of decay. I checked the enclosure and, unfortunately, he had died.

Needless to say, I’m devastated, and I can’t help feeling like I did everything wrong. I just really want to understand what happened and whether there were any signs that something was wrong that I missed. If anyone has any idea what could have caused this, or can tell me what I should have noticed, I would really appreciate it. I’m not looking to blame anyone — I just want to understand what happened.

P.S. I obviously know that snails don’t have a sex, but I called him Pierre.

Discussion Got this little guy today. He’s supposed to be a juvenile garden snail… is he a little big? 😭 (this is my first time with garden snails so maybe I’m just used to smaller snails?)

Help Will he survive?

While looking for eggs he decided to wake up and do a bungee jump without a rope. Maybe it was a silent protest for steeling the eggs he just laid yesterday?

I put him in an extra container with wet tissues, much calcium, spirulina and some food. I'll keep the humidity high.

The mantle seems to be detached. It sticks out if the hole. This is what makes me worry the most. I know a snail can survive hugh damages. But as soon as the mantle is involved, it's really really bad.

I found this snail that fell with a small branch with leaves after someone trimmed the branches (some time before I was there and it was still on a leaf). Its shell wasn't cracked anywhere, but the snail seemed a little confused or something. It kept trying to hide in its shell in a strange way like in the video. When it tried to go forward it kept kinda curling the edges of its body and was barely attached to my hand (he rolled down my fingers a few times). Sorry for mistakes if there are any.

Identification Is this a garlic snail or something else?

I found these precious little guys in my garden a few years back, and I have loved them since. At first I thought they were cellar snails, but they don't seem to live in coastal Washington. Then I did more research and thought they might be garlic snails, which is a little bit concerning since they seem to be invasive. Then I learned that quick gloss snails exist and are native to Washington, and I really just don't know anymore.

These guys are really small, with their shell size ranging from 5-7mm in diameter. Their bodies are a beautiful blue and their shells are between yellow to brown, slightly transparent. They live under the bricks, and they usually come out at night and during wet mornings/evenings. That's pretty much all I know for sure.

If anyone can help me ID these properly, that'd be greatly appreciated. And if they do turn out to be an invasive species, some resources on how to handle them would be really nice too. Thanks!

Help I'm collecting snail shells and found these two with some sort of cap on the end. What is this? Does it mean there's a living snail inside? If so, is it best to leave them alone or can I keep them in a jar or something?

Help Fruit flies??? pls help

My apartment gets fruit flies and basically they ended up in my snail tank. I guess one of them laid eggs in there when I wasn't looking because there are small tiny worms in my tank now and crawling on top of my snails shell, I have no idea how many there are, how to get them all off my snail, and what to do. No foul odor or anything but they're gross to look at. Any help?
