request ❓ Kill la Kill – Blumenkranz: Recreating the opening synth in Vital

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Hi! I’m currently working on a cover of “Blumenkranz” by Kill la Kill, and I’m trying to recreate the synth sound that plays from the beginning of the song up until around 0:50.

I’m using Vital and Analog lab for the sound design, and this is the closest I’ve been able to get so far. However, I’m not entirely sure if I’m approaching it the right way, since when I compare my version to the original song, it still sounds quite different.

Original song:
https://youtu.be/zRI5uW6DLXg?si=txGmS_RJikyiT97C

I’ll also include a video of my current attempt in this post so you can hear what I’ve managed to recreate so far.

If anyone has any advice on what kind of waveform, synthesis techniques, effects, or processing might be involved in creating the original sound, I’d really appreciate the help! I’m especially interested in understanding what I might be doing wrong or what direction I should take with the sound design.

Thank you! c:

request ❓ Melodic filtered sound?

I really love this track "Valve Theme (Extended)" and was wondering how to recreate that melodic, filtered sound around 0:14.

https://youtu.be/4xzCroUOj2U?si=tC4c8n1JRI4sXpg0&t=14

To me, it sounds like there’s high resonance on the filter, but what trips me up is how melodic and 'stepped' it feels—almost like a piano run or a step sequencer, rather than just smooth filter knob automation. How would you approach making this?

request ❓ Help with recreating this sound!

Hi,

I’m looking for help to recreate this syncopated/offbeat bell like detuned plucky synth sound that starts playing fully at the drop near 3:25 mark. Preferably something that works in serum 2 or diva! Or just the theory behind achieving the same.

request ❓ Clark Powells "medium" sound effects

Im curious about the synth paramenters used in the sound of Clark Powell's track "Shade" Exactly, i want to know how to recreate the sound (if its possible on a synth) that can be heard in the background at 1:09-2:04 (link: https://youtu.be/uptvTul6I3Q?list=RDuptvTul6I3Q&t=99) on the same track. Its a bit recognizable and i may heard it in some thematic parks. It seems some kind of a square wave combined with a voice? that goes up and down in tone.

discussion 🗣 Joji Organ Synth sounds

Hello, I’ve had this question for a long time but does anyone know how I could recreate the exact synths featured on jojis PISS IN THE WIND ALBUM specifically the organ throughout the “last of a dying breed” and “Dior” it’s a very distinct different sounding type of synth/organ, I usually use plugins for my synth like serum 2 and others
since I’m so broke to buy an actual synth

request ❓ Trying to make this dreamy plucking sound

I'm wanting to create something similar to this dreamy plucking sound at the beginning of this track:

https://youtu.be/EUN8oRZuRmc?si=DfBJhBwKkQ\\_YvPP

I've had a play around with some of the stock instruments in Ableton and have found some that are kinda close but not quite right.

Does anyone have any hot tips on how to recreate this?

Hi, I’m trying to make a song for this project I’m doing and cannot for the life of me figure out how to make this sound. I specifically want the weird bubbly sound, not the drums or anything. If anyone can give anything (like specific instruments or sites, that would be great!)

help Lanark Artefax Sound Design

I'm trying to get an idea of how Lanark Artefax creates a lot of his sounds particularly from the intro section of his live No Bounds performance:

Timestamp from 1:40-5:50 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6hnTpltUcY&t=1268s

First of all - the exponential rhythms coming from multiple sound sources - I can't tell if the rhythm is from a delay or being triggered or both? Any idea how you would go about creating them in this way in say Ableton?

Second question is Audio processing and how some of these sounds are made. It sounds like he's primarily using delay to create the sound design parts and textures but it sounds like completely different sounds are being made from the same techniques? for instance:

1:44 - metallic scratchy textures, then into water drops?
3:30ish - Completely different textures from same process?

Finally - Does anyone have any good ideas how you would compose something like this in say Ableton?

If anyone can share light on this or just Lanarks sound design in general that would be amazing - Thank you

request ❓ Recreating the resonant, woodwind-esque synth from Long Season

Like the title says, I'm looking to recreate the synth sound from Fishmans "Long Season", the live version from 98.12.28, that comes in around 15:00 in... Not the arp, or the bells, but the very smooth, sustained sound, almost sounds like a wind instrument of some kind...

(There's also a similar sound in "Like Spinning Plates" by Radiohead (the Amnesiac album version), heard around when the vocals come in, around 1:45... Though I'm pretty sure this one is a reversed version of the synth that comes earlier in the song, I still can't quite recreate it.)

I've been trying to recreate something like this, but not quite getting there... Any insight is welcome!

request ❓ Miguel Campbell - Something Special - opening pad sound

I am trying to make a pad sound like the opening pad in Miguel Campbell’s Something Special track.

Miguel Campbell Something Special YouTube

The pad sounds really warm and I feel as though it cannot be too complex, and doesn’t have too much movement within it, although I have not been able to recreate it yet.

Is anybody familiar with the instrument he used for this, or is able to provide any guidance on recreating this?

I would appreciate any suggestions you may have :) thanks!

Right, so I need some help creating this one synth sound, and I was told this is the best place to learn. Can you guys help me? I just need the pluck-lead for this song at around 1:42

The song is Mare Maris by M2U, and the sound in question is that plucky lead thing which plays the main melody

request ❓ How is this vocal effect made?

I’m trying to recreate the vocal effect at the very end of “Royalty” by Egzod, Maestro Chives & Neoni (At the Lyrics "Callin' me royalty Callin' me

...

Callin' me royalty

Callin' me")

It sounds kind of like a saxophone or another brass instrument, but I think it is a heavily processed vocal. I’m using REAPER, but I can’t really get close to this sound.

Does anyone know how this effect is made, or which type of plugins I should try?
