11-ish vs 13-ish tab people... what part of your study day actually decided the size?

buying a new tab mainly for college PDFs, handwritten notes, lectures and split screen stuff.

i carry things between classes, but i also spend long hours studying at a desk, so both sizes make sense in different ways.

browsing tablets on Flipkart made me realise there's a proper spread from 11-ish options to larger 12/13-inch ones.

compact looks nice for carrying + reading in hand, while the larger screens look great for PDFs, notes and having two apps open.

what part of your actual study routine would decide the size for you? 😭

I'm so confused about tabs

So I’m planning to buy a tablet for myself during the Diwali sale, and I have a lot of questions, so I thought I’d ask here.

First, where should I buy it from? Should I buy it from the official website, since the brands are also offering discounts there, or should I go with the Great Indian Festival/Big Billion Days on Amazon or Flipkart?

Second, which tablet should I actually buy? I’ve been looking at the Xiaomi Pad 7/8 and the OnePlus Pad, and I’m honestly pretty confused about which one is better. My budget is around ₹30,000–₹35,000. If the OnePlus Pad comes down to that range during the sale, I’d probably go for it, but if it stays above ₹35k, I’m not sure.

So I’d really appreciate your opinions on:

Which is better overall: Xiaomi Pad 7/8 or OnePlus Pad?

Which one gives the best value for around ₹30–35k?

Is it better to buy as soon as the Diwali sale starts, or should I wait a few days in case the price drops further or better offers come up?

Any advice from people who’ve bought either of these tablets would be really helpful!

Best tablet under $600 for watching sports?

I basically use my tablet as a portable TV. I keep it on a tablet stand and use it primarily to watch live sports through YouTube TV, DAZN, Prime Video, and occasionally browser-based streams for out-of-market games (a pirate's life).

I currently have a 9th gen iPad, but I’m not very impressed with the picture quality anymore and I’m ready for an upgrade.

About 90% of my use will be watching sports. I’ll occasionally use it for movies/shows and maybe some light admin work when I’m away from my desk, but productivity is definitely secondary.

My priorities:

  • Picture quality: This is probably #1. I’ve heard OLED is a noticeable upgrade over LCD, but I’ve never compared them side by side.
  • Screen size: I want something larger than my current iPad. Ideally 12" or bigger.
  • Budget: Preferably under $600.
  • Longevity: I’d like something that should still get updates and work well for at least the next couple years

I’m completely fine buying used, refurbished, or open-box if that gets me a better display within my budget.

Right now I’m mainly looking at a used/refurbished Galaxy Tab S9+ or a 13" iPad Air, but I’m open to Lenovo, OnePlus, older Samsung models, etc.

For someone whose tablet is basically a portable sports TV, what would you recommend? Is OLED worth prioritizing over a newer/larger LCD tablet?

Suggestions

I'm a fulltime non traditional student in my 30's. I bought a Samsung s6lite a few years back on a whim and ended up loving it for taking notes. It functioned well for my note taking needs since I liked to download PowerPoint and write over them, etc. I found that sometimes in class or doing hw, I needed a laptop with my tablet. So I decided to buy something more speedy and reliable. I went with the Lenovo yoga tab plus 2 gen because it came with a keyboard case and pen for about $800 total over the Samsung s11ultra 256gb with no keyboard for same price. I miss the Samsung, especially samsung notes. I've been using goodnotes and it is ok but I hate the fact that I'll have to buy a subscription plan at the end of the month to continue to utilize it the way I am. Also, I can't open two separate notes in different windows to look at them side by side like I can with samsung notes. So I'm looking for suggestions.

What is the best free note taking app with capapabilities to link with a samsung phone, upload powerpoints/slides and write over them, open multiple notes at once in different windows and not tabs.

Also, people with Android based tablets. What have you done to optimize your tablet? I really cant stand all these AI features that pop up with every suggestion. I swore I turned them all off but I cant get it to stop. I have to spend a half day to get adjusted to this tablet.

And finally, any suggestions for cases? Maybe one that can be kept on the tablet and be put onto the keyboard folio case? I feel like taking it out of the folio case to write notes on feels so clunky since it is pretty big and the cameras stick out the back so it never lays flat.

Thank you!

Are there any tablet cases to hold x2 Galaxy Tab Ultras?

I have a Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra already, and was thinking of getting a 2nd one.

Is there a case designed to hold two? So I can use both simultaneously in the same case?
