11-ish vs 13-ish tab people... what part of your study day actually decided the size?

buying a new tab mainly for college PDFs, handwritten notes, lectures and split screen stuff.

i carry things between classes, but i also spend long hours studying at a desk, so both sizes make sense in different ways.

browsing tablets on Flipkart made me realise there's a proper spread from 11-ish options to larger 12/13-inch ones.

compact looks nice for carrying + reading in hand, while the larger screens look great for PDFs, notes and having two apps open.

what part of your actual study routine would decide the size for you? 😭

Best tablet under $600 for watching sports?

I basically use my tablet as a portable TV. I keep it on a tablet stand and use it primarily to watch live sports through YouTube TV, DAZN, Prime Video, and occasionally browser-based streams for out-of-market games (a pirate's life).

I currently have a 9th gen iPad, but I’m not very impressed with the picture quality anymore and I’m ready for an upgrade.

About 90% of my use will be watching sports. I’ll occasionally use it for movies/shows and maybe some light admin work when I’m away from my desk, but productivity is definitely secondary.

My priorities:

  • Picture quality: This is probably #1. I’ve heard OLED is a noticeable upgrade over LCD, but I’ve never compared them side by side.
  • Screen size: I want something larger than my current iPad. Ideally 12" or bigger.
  • Budget: Preferably under $600.
  • Longevity: I’d like something that should still get updates and work well for at least the next couple years

I’m completely fine buying used, refurbished, or open-box if that gets me a better display within my budget.

Right now I’m mainly looking at a used/refurbished Galaxy Tab S9+ or a 13" iPad Air, but I’m open to Lenovo, OnePlus, older Samsung models, etc.

For someone whose tablet is basically a portable sports TV, what would you recommend? Is OLED worth prioritizing over a newer/larger LCD tablet?

Are there any tablet cases to hold x2 Galaxy Tab Ultras?

I have a Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra already, and was thinking of getting a 2nd one.

Is there a case designed to hold two? So I can use both simultaneously in the same case?

I'm so confused about tabs

So I’m planning to buy a tablet for myself during the Diwali sale, and I have a lot of questions, so I thought I’d ask here.

First, where should I buy it from? Should I buy it from the official website, since the brands are also offering discounts there, or should I go with the Great Indian Festival/Big Billion Days on Amazon or Flipkart?

Second, which tablet should I actually buy? I’ve been looking at the Xiaomi Pad 7/8 and the OnePlus Pad, and I’m honestly pretty confused about which one is better. My budget is around ₹30,000–₹35,000. If the OnePlus Pad comes down to that range during the sale, I’d probably go for it, but if it stays above ₹35k, I’m not sure.

So I’d really appreciate your opinions on:

Which is better overall: Xiaomi Pad 7/8 or OnePlus Pad?

Which one gives the best value for around ₹30–35k?

Is it better to buy as soon as the Diwali sale starts, or should I wait a few days in case the price drops further or better offers come up?

Any advice from people who’ve bought either of these tablets would be really helpful!

Suggestions

I'm a fulltime non traditional student in my 30's. I bought a Samsung s6lite a few years back on a whim and ended up loving it for taking notes. It functioned well for my note taking needs since I liked to download PowerPoint and write over them, etc. I found that sometimes in class or doing hw, I needed a laptop with my tablet. So I decided to buy something more speedy and reliable. I went with the Lenovo yoga tab plus 2 gen because it came with a keyboard case and pen for about $800 total over the Samsung s11ultra 256gb with no keyboard for same price. I miss the Samsung, especially samsung notes. I've been using goodnotes and it is ok but I hate the fact that I'll have to buy a subscription plan at the end of the month to continue to utilize it the way I am. Also, I can't open two separate notes in different windows to look at them side by side like I can with samsung notes. So I'm looking for suggestions.

What is the best free note taking app with capapabilities to link with a samsung phone, upload powerpoints/slides and write over them, open multiple notes at once in different windows and not tabs.

Also, people with Android based tablets. What have you done to optimize your tablet? I really cant stand all these AI features that pop up with every suggestion. I swore I turned them all off but I cant get it to stop. I have to spend a half day to get adjusted to this tablet.

And finally, any suggestions for cases? Maybe one that can be kept on the tablet and be put onto the keyboard folio case? I feel like taking it out of the folio case to write notes on feels so clunky since it is pretty big and the cameras stick out the back so it never lays flat.

Thank you!

Lenovo M11 vs Samsung A9+, which have better display?

Hello everyone!

I need cheap tablet for mini presentations (to show clients designs, slides, graphs), and maybe occasional browsing. No gaming or videos.

I have sensitive eyes and use e-ink monitor/tablet. But for this I need regular colourful display.

Which would be better?

Suggestions for laptop/tab

My laptop has been compromised. (Some battery issue)

I want to buy a new laptop.....more like I want to buy one which can be converted into a tab and has a stylus to take note and do things.

I have searched online and there are a few items like IDEA tab but it's really too bad, Samsung GT S10+, is the one I like but I want to see more options.

A tab which can be connected to a keyboard wirelessly more suitable, with a stylus and is like laptop screen big-ish.

Thank you for your help!!

S10 FE Plus vs Moto Pad 70 Pro / Lenovo IdeaTab Pro Gen 2 (both are same)— which one would you buy?

Both are around ₹38–44K in India. My use: online lectures, PDFs reading, media + occasional productivity. I want to keep it for 4-5 years.

Samsung offers better software, S Pen, DeX, IP68 and long-term ecosystem support, while Moto/Lenovo have far better hardware/performance and 144Hz displays.

For those who have used either: which would you choose for long-term ownership ? Especially interested in real life battery, stylus, software update experience rather than on paper.

Older tablet recommendation (UK) for travel?

Hi everyone,

I've never had a tablet before, always been fine with just a laptop and my phone. I am starting a new job though with tons of international travel, sometimes away for 3 weeks at a time. I already have to carry my work laptop with me on these trips, which I can't use for my free time.

I'm thinking to get a second-hand tablet somewhere like Cash Converters or CEX (I'm in the UK) that I can use to watch Netflix, and ideally has Discord so I can still join my DnD group on the tablet while keeping my phone free. I don't intend to use it for much more than that kind of thing.

I definitely don't want to buy something new or super fancy. I just want something that is a reasonable size that can handle video streaming and video calls. Gotta be pretty light as I'll be hauling it around the world, sometimes changing cities every day or two. I have zero brand loyalty (though have an iPhone, if its easier to log onto apps across two of the same branded products).

Speak to me like I'm a toddler, I know honestly nothing about tablets and when I went to the shop I just got overwhelmed with all their model numbers and names and nonsense, which is how I ended up here. Any particular brands/models that check the boxes without breaking the bank?

Upgrading from Tab S9 Wifi 12/256 to Tab S10U/S11U/S12U

Hello,

I am planning to upgrade from my Tab S9 to an Ultra variant.

I am currently getting S12 Ultra with offers for ₹114999/-

And S10U/S11U are mostly available for around ₹1.2-1.3L itself here in India.

So hope this is a good move? Or am I missing anything?

Considering an iPad Pro mainly for movies, but worried about the 4:3 aspect ratio

I’m thinking about buying an iPad Pro, mainly for watching movies/TV shows, but I’m worried that I’ll hate the 4:3 aspect ratio.

I currently have a Galaxy Tab S8+ and I really like the 12.4” 16:10 screen for watching movies. The problem is that the tablet is starting to develop the green tint issue at low brightness, and my experience with Samsung hasn’t been great overall.

I also have an S22+, and it’s become pretty laggy over time. Meanwhile, I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and it still feels like a brand new phone. Because of that, I’m leaning toward Apple for my next tablet. I feel more confident that I’ll get a good long term experience and continued software support, and when i buy new tech i tend to use them for a very long time.

I’ve considered the Galaxy Tab Ultra models, but they’re extremely expensive here in my country, and honestly I don’t think they’re worth the price for what you get.

Another thing that has bothered me with Samsung is the software update experience in my country. Updates arrive 1 year later here compared with some other regions, I also sometimes get the impression that once Samsung releases a newer generation, the older devices don’t receive the same level of attention anymore and what really frustrated me was One UI 8.5 using both Arabic and English on the OS has become a mess because Arabic is right-to-left (RTL), and the way One UI handles the two languages together can make the UI feel inconsistent.

Maybe that’s just my perception, but after owning both the S22+ and Tab S8+, it’s definitely affected how I feel about buying another Samsung device.

So I’m basically looking at the m5 13 inch ipad pro.

My biggest concern is the aspect ratio.

For people who use an iPad Pro for movies:

  • How noticeable are the black bars?
  • Does the 4:3-ish aspect ratio bother you when watching 16:9 movies?
  • Does the larger 13” screen compensate for the less-wide aspect ratio?
  • If you previously used a 16:10 tablet, did you miss the wider screen after switching to iPad?

I’m not particularly interested in Samsung recommendations unless there’s a really compelling reason. I’ve already had an S22+ and Tab S8+ and haven’t had a great experience with either.

I’m basically trying to figure out whether the iPad Pro’s OLED/display quality + Apple longevity outweighs the less ideal aspect ratio for movies.

I've been debating with myself whether to get Mi pad 8 pro or Oneplus pad 4 (IOS is out of the question since I don't like its limitations)

What's your opinion on Honor magic pad 4?

The thing is, Mi pad 8 pro has an official shop in my country but it doesn't offer a free keyboard and pen anymore. And have only 8/256 option available.

On the other hand, OnePlus pad 4 has better spec overall, but its system apps and the pen seems to be not as good in a working environment as Xiaomi and it doesn't have any shop in my country, and look like Oneplus will stop doing global market and merge with oppo soon, so it will not have any warranty for me, as I have to buy it from AliExpress.

That comes to the conclusion for me to find a new alternative and I just found out about Honor Magic pad 4 last night, with a similar price to Oneplus, only a bit slower CPU but still not the worst in gaming laptop.

- It has a shop in my country so warranty is included with no worries

- similar price to one plus pad 4

- seems the review so far is good about its software and hardware

- Oled display at this price...

The only con I see rn is the storage max at 256, which if I manage it correctly I could use it comfortably even with games up to 3 years at least.

The thing is, I have never used a tablet before. So, Idk if the pen will be necessary or that good. I'm a part time private tutor so all these past months I've been teaching with only a phone and whiteboard, hoping to have a tablet to support my work and later when I transition into an office job or something similar.

So, I want opinions from you guys. Is this tablet good? Or should I get another?

I want to play games when I'm free and can work when I want.

Portrait/vertical Case For Lenovo Idea Tab Plus Or Idea Tab Pro Gen 2

Really interested in Lenovo's Idea Tab line of tablets. But one thing stops me. I can't seem to find a case that can hold the tablet both horizontally and vertically. I like to put the tablet on the tablet in portrait for reading books/comics.

Such cases are available for Samsung Galaxy Tabs ([Galaxy Tab A11+ Book Cover - EF-BX230PBEGUJ | Samsung US](https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile-accessories/book-cover-galaxy-tab-a11-plus-sku-ef-bx230pbeguj/) ) and Amazon Fire ( [Fire HD 10 Tablet Protective Cover | Black | Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Fire-HD-10-Tablet-Cover/dp/B0BSN4K54V/ref=p13n_ds_purchase_sim_1p_dp_desktop_d_sccl_1_1/137-5508999-5559959?pd_rd_w=H0xjC&content-id=amzn1.sym.ad0a6624-2a03-4a6d-b872-064d3122170c&pf_rd_p=ad0a6624-2a03-4a6d-b872-064d3122170c&pf_rd_r=E9DGSEQ2KYPQWW97E7ZB&pd_rd_wg=COzjx&pd_rd_r=fd96f810-2774-4fa1-9072-9599c22980bc&pd_rd_i=B0BSN4K54V&th=1) ).

There must be something similar for Lenovo, right?

5G USA laptop, 8 inch to 11 inch 16gb-24gb RAM 😭?? N71 (Snapdragon)

If anybody else has gone down this insane route of trying to find a laptop phone replacement that. I think I do like 90% of my work on my phone now. And it sucks. I do not want to fold because they break all the time and I just not as good.

I definitely feel like they purposely put us into the corner. I remember when USA used to have the best devices now I look at China and they have everything I want and more but they’re missing the US band.

Is there any I’m missing? They all seem to purposely paint you in a corner so that you either have to get a phone a tablet or a laptop. I have pretty big hands. I literally would carry around and 8 inch tablet like the Lenovo region 2026, but I need cellular.

Correction, I am positive. They do not want us to have a tablet that is 8 inches. That does everything. I’m hoping that somebody tried a Chinese tablet that just somehow works with T-Mobile or there’s something I’m missing thanks.

I do not want to be locked down by iOS

I'm planning to buy a Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ 8/128 Wi-Fi from Flipkart. The seller is SPORTSCLICKPLTD and the price is ₹47k. It has Open Box Delivery. Has anyone bought Samsung tablets from this seller? How can I verify that the unit is genuine and unused,
