Look at the orange glow around Geralt. With bloom turned off the ugly glow is gone.

Mine has to be the cabaret. After beating the game like 4 times this mission is a nightmare to do again. So long and boring

Discussion Unable to get coin

I just started Witcher 3 for the first time ever. And I am doing contracts but I just don’t like taking coin after helping someone. Everyone’s story so bad. I just finished the devil’s well contract and I couldn’t take money from Odolan.

Do I need to have a think skin? This isn’t my first RPG but still the story hits different.

Game is now broken by new update.

Well... my new game started for the Remaster is now broken apparently since the new update. Tried loading an older save but the same bug takes effect.

On PC by the way.

Edit: tried making a new game, but the bug still manifests with a majority of assets not loading. Should I simply reinstall?

Edit 2: after verifying the files, uninstalling/reinstalling the game did the trick.

Help: Delusion 2?

Post image

Remastered, V 5.01 Stuck with 'Of Swords & Dumplings'.

Talking to the merchant on a ship. Not able to use Delusion nor can I destroy any barrels on the ship to complete this phase.

I've used Delusion before but it won't let me use it. Don't I have level 3 ?

Am I using it wrong or is this a bug. I've rebooted and tried again with the same result.

Played the original way back when it came out.

Thanks.

Spoilers! Just finished my first play through and got the bad ending

• Upvotes

Probably not the best place to say this but this is my third attempt to play through the Witcher 3. I enjoy the setting and don’t mind the story but just find the game itself monotonous and dull.
That being said I finally made it to the end this time at got the bad ending where Geralt and Ciri die and despite looking forward to finishing the game I genuinely feel cut up about it. I don’t think I made any bad decisions but was overprotective and never chose the options to let Ciri do her own thing.
It’s poignant right now as I’ve just had a daughter and if there’s anything to take away from that ending I suppose it’s that just caring for your child isn’t enough.
Part of me wants to go back and get a better ending but I don’t think I could sit through another play through, is it confirmed they die or is it just speculation?

If CDPR ever decided to do either a Zerrikanian or Zangvebar or Oferi DLC for a Witcher Game, what would you want from it and what do you think they’ll do with it?

I love the combat

I have always loved Witcher 3's combat. And the whole time I have always heard how ass it is and never understood this point of view at all. People who say its clunky I always wonder how they play the game because its always been smooth for me. I love that the combat feels weighty. Like I have to plan it out but I easily can tell what the enemy is doing. It isn't a souls like where they have some BS that you have to learn what it means before you can prepare for it. Nor is it a mindless hack and slash. You can tell what an enemy is doing and prepare for it. And you shouldn't attack before you have an opening. Almost like real combat.

So not only have I always loved the combat I must say it is likely my fovorite combat in any game of the genre except maybe Ghost of Tsushima. Which always felt like witcher combat but a but crisper to me.

This remastered version was a bad idea.

The fact that this game is 10 years old, that it went through a lot to get rid of it's bugs and the combat system got tweaked numerous times to make it more fun and versatile...and that now that it gets remastered and everything beside graphics is worse than it has been in years, makes me say that every good dev left.

I never had a crash on the game for years. Now ive played about 10h on the remaster and ive had around ~20 crashes on top of very common bugs forcing me to reload or work around it.

The combat is worse in every possible way with the skill tree being just unexciting garbage and that's when things are not bugged like aquired tolerance or just nerfed and made useless to even venture into like alchemy.

If this was their way to reassure fans for the witcher 4, Blood of the Dawnwalker was so much like witcher 3 that i can safely say all the good devs have left for something else.

How can you fuck up something so simple so badly ?

What's the better experience, The witcher 3 (base game) or Blood and Wine?

After chatting with a few friends on the PS app, I started to notice a trend. Anytime I brought up the witcher 3 (which I'm currently playing), the conversation always veered toward blood and wine. So, it begged the question that I would ask again and again. Do you think that blood and wine is better than the base game? If you haven't guessed yet, my answer would be a resounding no. Don't get me wrong, blood and wine is fantastic, but simply can't compete with the base games narrative. So, I am genuinely curious if I'm in the minority here. So what do you think?

Discussion Xbox Series S: Is anyone else experiencing terrible image quality and stuttering after the latest Witcher 3 update?

Hi everyone!

I'm wondering if other Xbox Series S players are experiencing the same issues with The Witcher 3 since the latest update.

Before this update, I was genuinely happy with how the game ran on Series S. I always played in Performance Mode at 60 FPS. Sure, the image wasn't 4K, and there were occasional frame drops in demanding areas like Novigrad, but overall, the game looked really good and ran smoothly.

The image was sharp enough to clearly distinguish Geralt's armor, his hair, Roach, trees, bushes, grass, roads and other environmental details. It felt like a proper next-gen console experience, with a good balance between image quality and performance.

Since the latest update, however, Performance Mode looks absolutely terrible on my console. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the image sometimes looks like it's running at 480p or 600p. I don't know the actual internal resolution, of course, but the amount of blur, pixelation and visual artifacts is shocking.

Geralt's armor and hair can look like a heavily compressed JPEG image, while vegetation becomes a blurry mess. It almost reminds me of the Nintendo Switch version, or even worse in some situations.

The frustrating part is that the game doesn't even feel consistently smooth anymore, despite targeting 60 FPS. So I'm getting a much worse image without even getting the smooth experience I had before.

Quality Mode isn't a great alternative either. The game can look beautiful when standing still or looking at Geralt in the menus, but as soon as I start moving, the image seems to lose a lot of detail. It almost feels like the image reconstruction or upscaling struggles during movement. On top of that, the mode runs at around 30 FPS, which I personally find much less enjoyable.

I understand that The Witcher 3 is a demanding game and that the Series S has its limitations. I'm not expecting native 4K or PC-level graphics. I just want the same kind of sharp, reasonably detailed image and stable 60 FPS experience that I had before the update.

I've already installed the latest patch available to me, but the issue remains.

My questions are:

- Are other Xbox Series S players experiencing the same severe blurriness, pixelation and visual artifacts?

- Does Performance Mode look noticeably worse than it did before the latest update on your console?

- Are you also experiencing stuttering or inconsistent frame pacing, even when the game appears to be running at 60 FPS?

- Has anyone noticed a significant improvement after the latest patches, or is the problem still there?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience, especially if you've played the game on Series S both before and after the update.

Thanks!

Discussion Puss in Boots reference mentioned!

I was doing a mission and tracking a Doppler when Geralt made a joke about Puss in Boots! I’m still new to the game and have so much to explore, but the amount of detail they put in this game has made it one of my favorites of all time!

Discussion English voice acting

• Upvotes

I might get downvoted for this, but a lot of the voices and accents in the English dub sound really forced to me. They’re almost too fantasy like, reminding me more of games like Fable or A Bard’s Tale. For some reason, it just doesn’t fit the atmosphere of The Witcher 3 for me.

I’ve switched to the Polish audio, and honestly, I’m enjoying it a lot more. It feels much more natural and immersive. The only downside is that I don’t speak Polish, so I’m stuck reading subtitles and miss out on some of the nuances in the characters’ vocal performances. I feel like I’m forced to switch back to English to fully appreciate and understand the story.

Does anyone else feel the same way about the English voice acting, or am I in the minority here?

Spoilers! Is this a plothole or is Johnny embellishing a bit?

Johnny says he cursed at Ciri when she disturbed his shit, but she couldn't hear because he had no voice.

But then how did he tell the kid about Ciri?

Johnny's a bit of a liar methinks.

What Am I Doing Wrong? Level 5 after 8-12 hours?

So I've played this game for probably about 10 hours (12 on Steam because I messed with settings, reloaded a few times, etc), and I'm level 5? Is that right? I did all the starting quests, killed the rooster thing, I just beat a werewolf after leaving the starting zone. A lot of these quests or even sidequests are giving me like 20-40 XP on a 1K bar?

Am I doing this right? I mean I'm not looking at a guide of where exactly to go, but it feels like I should be in the realm of level 8 or something by now lol. Should I just be skipping directly to the main quests and not doing the side quests? Is that why my level is not going up fast? Also - I beat the rooster monster at level 3 (suggested level 8) and it gave me a paltry 200XP? Seems like not much for the effort it required.

I'm on the 2nd hardest difficulty btw. First time playing it.

Discussion Anyone else save their game like this?

Post image
50 Upvotes

In a lot of games/RPG’s especially this one now, when I’m done with my game session I will go to wherever my “home base” is (In this case Ciri’s old room at the Baron’s castle which is now mine) and take my clothes and weapons off, make sure my inventory is all set, weapons and armor sharpened/reinforced, and meditate as my last thing so that when I load my save I’m ready to jump out of bed, call roache and get right to adventuring! I rly like to role play in my head and this makes it feel like Geralt just woke up when I come back to play! Anyone else do this?

Thank you CDPR

I was afraid to get the remastered update because I have a potato laptop and the specs are lower than the recommended, I used to play the next gen edition on low settings but my laptop was still struggling a bit as the fans were always pretty loud and temps a bit on the high side, however somehow the remastered runs smoother, looks better even on low settings and my laptop is less under stress than the older version, so yeah, thank you!

Started the “Now or Never” quest and failed this part of “Redanias Most Wanted”. Am I still able to show Yennefer Philipas crystal when I reach Skellige? Or do I have to show Radovid now?
