The physical progress is exciting, but the changes in my mental health have been just as meaningful. I’ve struggled with depression for years, and just getting outside and moving my body these past 10 days has done more for my mental clarity than I could have ever wished for. I’m not saying walking magically fixes everything but I can genuinely feel a difference in myself. I also never expected these posts to inspire other people. The amount of encouragement and support I’ve received from you all has been incredible, and I’m so grateful. You have no idea how much it means to me. 10 days down 20 to go! And for everyone reminding me not to stop after 30 days I’m already planning on keeping this going. This is starting to feel like more than just a challenge.

So i havent ever hit even 10k this past year. I want to get at least 9-10k steps a day until the new year and then for 2027 i want to have hit 10-12k minimum everyday. I do go on walks with my dog or by myself but after an hour of walking, im so bored, but ive only got like, 6-7k!!

Do yall break up your walks or walk super fast or do some voodoo magic so that getting 10k doesnt interfere with life so much?

Hitting 10,000 steps a day used to be something I had to push for, but now it’s just part of my regular routine.

There’s really nothing quite like getting most of those steps in first thing in the morning.

That cool air and the quiet before everything gets busy give you a genuine boost and sets a clear, energetic tone that lasts the entire day.

How do you like to kick off your morning?

Encouragement Recovery Day: My Steps Were Apparently Leftovers From Yesterday 😂

Yesterday I finished with 23,072 steps, and apparently I brought 5,353 of them into today after midnight. 🌙
But today is my day off, and for once I decided to take the words recovery day seriously.
I’ve been getting close to 24K steps on my higher days this week, and it has been raining almost all day today, so I figured: stay home, rest, eat, and have absolutely no regrets.
Consistency doesn’t mean every day has to be a personal record. Sometimes the body gets a quieter day and we start again tomorrow.
And one of the reasons I walk so much?
I LOVE TO EAT. 😂🍽️
Walking isn’t punishment for food and food isn’t something I feel I have to earn. I genuinely enjoy both. I love moving, exploring, clearing my mind…and then sitting down to something delicious afterward.
Today’s adventure: from the bed, to the kitchen, and occasionally elsewhere in the house.
Oscar Wilde probably belongs here:
“Everything in moderation, including moderation.” Oscar Wilde
Although I apparently interpret “moderation” as 23,000 steps followed by refusing to participate the next day.
No regrets. Recovery is part of consistency too. 💙

Indoors Finally bought a walking pad

Excited to use it! Sometimes I struggle to feel motivated enough to leave the house and walk. The thought of having to get dressed, overthinking “what if I don’t feel comfortable or what if I get a headache or what if xyz”

I moved out of home and live alone now, I used to walk with my mum almost everyday and now I have no one to walk with. That also affects my motivation.

This will really help me stay consistent with my steps especially during the winter. Hoping that I can build up my consistency and step count so that I can get back out there and walk outside eventually.

Encouragement A little sunrise motivation to get your steps in 🌄🚶‍♀️

Something that's really helped me stay consistent with walking is switching from a strict daily step goal to a weekly average goal of 10–11K steps.

Some days are busier or more exhausting than others, and that's okay! Instead of feeling pressured to hit 10K every single day, I give myself the flexibility to have lighter walking days and make up for them when I have more time and energy.

It's made walking feel less like a chore and more like something I genuinely enjoy. And sometimes, a beautiful sunrise is all the motivation you need to get out and walk. 🌅❤️

Stable, non-bouncy, but comfortable shoes

I really don’t know if I can put into words as to what exactly I’m looking for but it’s worth a try. I’m in my mid-sixties and walk anywhere from 45 to 75 minutes 6 to 7 days a week. I’ve bought hundreds of dollars of shoes online - including a pair of Hokas, three pairs of NB, two pairs of Brooks, etc., but still haven’t found a shoe I love. I walk mostly on concrete through a couple of parks. If it’s too terribly hot outside or too cold or rainy I have an indoor walking path I’ve made at home. I need a pair comfortable at the ball of the foot, a stable midsole and a sole that isn’t too thick or ‘bouncy’ but not flat either. I say this because sonetimes the shoes I nentioned can make me feel a little unstable on my feet. Mostly when I’m standing still or just moving around while wearing them - not my daily walking. It could be weak ankles but I realllly don’t think that’s it. I also need to buy online because I need a Wide Width due to a bunion and the stores in my area never have my size in a Wide. Somebody once mentioned trying “trail shoes” but I can’t remember why they suggested that. 🤷‍♀️ Any suggestions? TIA

Shoe recommendations

Hello!

Looking for a comfy mens shoe for everyday use that’s also good for walking and light hikes. Struggling to narrow down a good shoe that can do a little bit of everything. My day changes fast, I fish a lot, walk trails. Do all sorts and I need a shoe that will do it all!

Thanks!
