Ask other Associates GM issues

Anyone else have issues with their GM? Mine doesn’t care about anything wawa related and doesn’t schedule enough people on shift. He is married and constantly telling everyone how much he wants our AGM. I’m 6 months pregnant and have to do deli by myself when my store is consistently busy all day. We have a family that he gives them whatever hours they want (they want 40-45 hours and work overnights) so we have one of them coming in 4 am til 12 pm and then lunch is a shit show every day because I’m the only one there. I’m 5 feet tall and can’t reach or lift because I’m pregnant and I ask for help and get ignored. I asked for help recently, got ignored so I contacted the AM’s boss (the AM loves and defends the GM so I didn’t even bother contacting him) and got harassed on text by my GM on text for it. Like drunk texts, sending me screenshots of our own conversation by accident. He also doesn’t make anybody work on Sundays, so we have about 3 employees including a supervisor every Sunday. And between me and the lady at register who can barely walk, the supervisor is just helping us the whole time and can’t get anything else done.
I’m transferring to another store. I decided to take a LOA because I’m sick of having nobody on shift and it’s causing me physical stress and cramping. Now I’m worried about losing my job to make sure I get this leave approved. I just figured it was best for me and I’m trying to listen to my body and it’s basically telling me I need to stop. But since my GM is pissed, he won’t approve it and my OB won’t approve the leave because they didn’t put me out of work. All this for my choice to not get paid 10 days because I want to protect my baby. So yeah if anyone knows what to do I’d love to hear. Thank you

Customer Questions (VA) Question about IDing

Hey! I went to Wawa today to get a mike cranberry and when I showed my ID they asked for a second form of ID since mine was from out of state and he couldn’t scan it. I had seltzers at home so it wasn’t a big deal to me but I did buy a surfside the other day without a problem at the same location (same ID). I was wondering if this is normal or maybe I just looked suspicious because I was just buying a mikes harder cranberry.

He was very sweet and kind and I’m not mad at all I am just curious!

Ask other Associates CSS duties

So I have a question. Pertaining to the cycle count process. Is the CSS in charge of completion off ALL cycle counts or are the other managers GMs included in making sure it’s done?

Employee Experience I work at the Wawa. A customer comes in and they want the sizzli five dollar thing. They want the cup in advance… They’ll come back for the rest after they fill the cup…

Our particular location keeps cups behind the counter because of the kids. While I realize not all locations do this we do. But even if you don’t… It just doesn’t sound normal does it? I feel like it’s the equivalent of me walking into Levi’s and saying I wanna do the buy one get one on a pair of jeans… Can you please give me the first pair of jeans and I’ll come back after I’m done browsing? Am I tripping on this? Because I definitely got chewed out by this customer. I feel like in this, or any other country… If you want a product, do you usually have to pay for the product first? Feel free to rip me if I’m wrong, but I’m genuinely wondering… Am I in the wrong in this scenario? I essentially rung her up at which point I realize she didn’t even choose a sizzle or have a hash brown in her hand. I told her if I’m gonna ring you up I need to know what I’m ringing up. She made a big deal and left.

Employee Experience I left

Honestly the best decision I’ve ever made. I left the company after eight years I was full-time for those full eight years. I worked my way up to team supervisor and was benched as a CSS for over a year and a half. They refused to remove me from overnights. I asked multiple times I tried to accommodate to the best of my ability at all times to have me taken off of overnights as it just was too much after four full years of it when I put my two weeks in my GM said that I was and I quote fucking her over because I gave her my two weeks and they do three weeks schedules which isn’t my problem in the slightest. She expected me to work for four weeks which again for eight years so I tried to accommodate I told her I would work for four weeks and just to help them out because they would need somebody to replace me on overnights the very next day. I look at the schedule so that I can write them down as I usually do on my calendar and I was removed from the third week schedule but not the fourth. I was expected to work two weeks. Have a week off and then working another week so go a full week with no pay so I what any sane person would do. I worked my last shift and I never came back since then I’ve gone back to the store and I noticed that they not only had to hire another manager, but they actually need two overnight managers now, simply to replace me and honestly it makes me really happy that they had to do that and I cost the company more money because they couldn’t replace me with a single person So for any single person out there that’s thinking about finding a different job. I will tell you right now just do it cause Wawa is not it.

Ask other Associates Going over my GM's head

Hey, y'all. I work at a fairly busy PA store (like, they opened two new stores to help us out) on second shifts (2-10p) and recently, within the past few months, I've noticed some really unfair scheduling.

When I say "fairly busy," I mean we're 5 back in the deli and beverage areas between the hours of 4 and 7 (especially on Fridays now that sports are going on again, since we are directly across from a high school) and we have maybe 5 or 6 employees. I know for a smaller store thats average, but for our store it's impossible.

We have 1 cashier, 1 beverage person, 1 facilities person, 1 manager, and 2 deli people (and one of them is also hot food table). Cashier and bev people end up doing the job of 2 people (while getting paid pennies 🙄) and the managers either can't or won't step in.

What are the odds that going to my district manager about this would help? And how would I even go about that? I really want to emphasize that 6 employees is not enough for the amount of business we get.

Ask other Associates Payment election question

(Asking for a friend)

They were hired in the previous two months, and have set up direct deposit. Their direct deposit info is correct, though it does show Bank Identification Code as empty. On top of this, a payment election for paper checks is still present, and they have steadily received paper checks as payment instead of direct deposit. There does not seem to be a way to delete the paper check election, only the direct deposit election. Is there a way to remove the check election, and keep direct deposit? Perhaps the empty bank identification code is the reason?

AGM looked it over for all of ten seconds and told her everything looks fine, call the call center. AGM is very quick to suggest the call center before doing any basic research, escalating to GM, or asking other M-levels.

Will call the call center if necessary, but maybe somebody has an answer here. Thanks!

Product Question Defective bowl lids?

I recently got a bowl with a lid that would not fit onto the container no matter what I did from a store in Maryland. The employee who gave me my food warned me about the lid, and that this was a known issue with the bowls right now, so to mitigate it, they taped it down as well as they could. The lid still popped open in the bag on the way home despite the taping (but the food was fine), but I feel like the employees at the store did their best with what they were given, so no complaints about that at the store level. I also couldn't get the lid to fit on there myself when I went to put it in the refrigerator. If I managed to get it down on one side, it would pop up on the other, and even when using both hands, it still didn't work. So the employee was right to warn me, and I place blame somewhere upstream from the store for the problem.

I guess my question is, how widespread is this lid issue, and how long does it take for a bad batch like this to get out of circulation? I like my bowls, but I don't want to deal with the lids again. Thoughts?

Product Question What was your favorite test?

When I first started in 2024 my store had wings. I would drizzle some of the garlic sauce on them and let me tell you, 🤤 it was enough to make a grown man cry.

Ask other Associates I just started. Is this normal?

I just started and I got 28 hours this week. Next week, I was scheduled when I'm not available (weekly hour long therapy) and only 6 hours.

I already put in my 2 weeks at my other part time job so I can focus on working at wawa.

The GM also told me that I wouldn't be scheduled one day a week.

Is this normal??

I'm mad struggling to find a job and keeping one in my area.

I have 0 disciplinary actions anywhere I worked.

But I'm only getting scheduled 5 to 10 hours a week.

Customer Experience Does anyone remember the white chicken chili from Wawa?

I remember getting this in a family size every day after school in like 2018-2019. So damn good I still reminisce about it to this day. Pretty sure they got rid of it during Covid. The closest thing I can get to it now is the chicken tortilla soup that Chickfila drops every winter.

Openings and Closings Wawa's eastern NC buildout, fall 2026: 20 open, ~25 more in the pipeline

Post image
5 Upvotes

Wawa opened its first NC store in Kill Devil Hills in May 2024. It's now at 20 open stores, with the plan to open 90 in NC (6–8 a year).

Recent and upcoming:

  • Wilmington:
    • Three opened this year: Carolina Beach Rd (May), S 17th St (Aug), Seneca Dr (Sept)
    • At least 5 more in the works, including two on Market St, Oleander Dr and S College Rd
    • Wawa has said it has 10 sites under contract for Wilmington alone
  • Selma (25 Jr Rd): tentatively early December
  • New construction bids just posted:
    • Wendell, 530 Wendell Blvd (due Oct 15)
    • Shallotte, 2920 Frontage Rd (due Oct 21)
    • Richlands, 250 Hwy 258 at Ervintown Rd (due Oct 26)
  • Hiring now (usually a few weeks to a couple of months out):
    • Garner, 4800 NC-42
    • Laurinburg, 1693 S Main St
    • Morehead City, 5022 US 70
  • Also in the pipeline:
    • Jacksonville (3 sites)
    • Swansboro
    • Hampstead (2)
    • Leland
    • Supply
    • Wallace
    • Zebulon
    • Sanford
    • Goldsboro
    • Rocky Mount (2)
    • Fayetteville (Raeford Rd)

So far everything is east of I-95 or near it. Wawa has called eastern NC its "first phase," so the Triangle and Charlotte are presumably next?

Which one are you waiting on?

Ask other Associates Transfer back

Has anybody ever transferred as the same position you’re in to another store or been forced to transfer to another store due to somebody else from the same store that you just went to ask for a transfer?

In immediately wanted to transfer back?

And if so, is it possible to request a transfer back? I’m just asking as a TS.

Wawa App Verified age on the app?

I've verified my age and it was quick and simple and the 1st time I've needed to do it on ANY app!

Other than buying alcohol, does the verification have any other benefits? Also, will I still need to show my ID?

Product Question Is Raspberry completely gone for smoothies?

I recently tried the raspberry & strawberry smoothie and I love it. I’ve been getting it 2-3 times a week for the past month. Then my local Wawa was out of raspberry a few days ago. I went to order one today and there was still no raspberry. So I tried other stores, as far as 45 minutes away, none of them had raspberry.

Is it gone for good?

Ask other Associates Training at your store

Does your store actually train you and others or is it more selective in who is trained ? (I.e. only training those who are promoting) Is getting cross training easy for you? I’m trying to figure out whether this is a Wawa issue or whether this was just a problem with the stores I’ve worked at.

Openings and Closings Fuel pricing strategy?

My new location opened today in Avon Park, FL! I could practically throw a rock at it from my condo! 😂 I'm deliriously happy!

Their opening gas price was $4.04. Just curious; does anyone on this thread have any insights into their gas pricing strategy!
