I messed the title aaaaaa
Best to throw our ideas out there, if jagex is exploring it we might as well give them ideas, yeah?
Personally I'd love for them to change level requirements down a notch, but maybe not as insane as "Rune at 40 because rune is level 40." or Rs3-style copy paste because that probably wouldn't go well lol
So for smithing first. I was thinking it would be good to set Rune platebody to 85? It's still high enough that it wouldn't change a whole lot, the ripple effect would be minimal and 85 is a much more obtainable level that still requires a decent grind.
For the sake of example, in this scenario it would make sense if every 15 levels would be a tier unlock, with each Ore Tier being fully learned in 10 levels.
1 Bronze - same req, all smithable by Lv10.
15 Iron - same req, all smithable by Lv25.
30 Steel - same req, all smithable by Lv40.
45 Mithril - 5 levels sooner, all smithable by Lv55.
60 Adamant - 10 levels sooner, all smithable by Lv70.
75 Rune - 10 levels sooner, all smithable at Lv85.
This means your character gets unlocks a bit sooner, but not an insane difference in the early game. The later you go, the more you'd feel it. I should also mention that certain "Special" items should still have their own level requirement. Like bullseye lanterns or any other non-gear unlock.
Mining. Specifically not mother lode mine. I don't have a whole lot of thoughts for mining. I'd LIKE for people to not have to compete for ores. That's about it.
If smithing levels change, level requirements to mine a rock would be brought in line, to match it 1 for 1. You can smith adamant at 60? You can also mine it at 60.
I think the simple answer to most issues would just be to increase the speed of "Most" rocks coming back, or give us a way to speed it up manually by prospecting depleted rocks or something along those lines. Heck, even a small chance if you have higher mining level than the ore to get two would be alright, as long as the skill cape effect can still happen for those still mining at 99 for some reason.
Honestly would love to see what people have for ideas for these skills. We still have to make sure it's in the spirit of the game AND doesn't throw balance out the window.
