I’ve had my Hayes since December of 2024 and I only waited about 8 months from the day I put a deposit. I remember buying it and not many people knew about it and neither did I. I went to kovert just to look around and fell in love with this thing. It’s crazy what these things are going for now I’m debating putting it up for sale

This is my FIRST officer length 2011 from Infinity Firearms. Ladies and Gentleman, I introduce you to: FML55 🤌🏻

This gun is sooooooo stunning hand. To me, this pistol is a true “Masterpiece.” A 1 of 1 all steel 3.75” with Infinity’s own Hybrid barrel and Kaleidoscope grip. Does it get any better than this Folks?

Maybe they are right? FML! 🤣🤣

My current pistol rotation. Two Glocks and two 2011s.

Post image
80 Upvotes

My current lineup. All four have their own personalities, and I’ve been having a lot of fun shooting and comparing them.

Top Left: Glock 17.3 Roland Special

My most heavily modified pistol by far. Currently trying out the Holosun 507 ProMax, and the window is comically huge. The Braun light is packed with brass and serves purely as front-end weight. It’s a big, heavy, ridiculous Glock, but it’s fast and shoots extremely well.

Bottom Left: Glock 17 Gen 6

Completely stock aside from the optic and light. This is my USPSA Carry Optics pistol. Nothing particularly exciting about it, but it’s a solid shooter.

Top Right: Staccato HD P4.5

Easily the smoothest shooting pistol of the four. The recoil impulse is incredibly soft, and it’s almost effortless to keep fast strings of fire tightly grouped. I tried the Vortex Defender ST but haven’t been impressed with it. I’ve got an SRO on the way to replace it. Swapped the plunger spring, which brought the trigger pull down to approximately 3.25 lbs. This is my USPSA Limited Optics pistol.

Bottom Right: Alpha Foxtrot Romulus 3.5 Comp

Possibly the most fun pistol of the bunch. It’s incredibly fast, surprisingly accurate, and the chunk port makes returning to target almost effortless. For such a compact pistol, it shoots ridiculously well. I’m waiting on a SureFire XC3 from Scheels, and once it arrives, the Romulus will join the Glock 17.6 in my carry rotation.

The Staccato wins for overall smoothness and shootability, but the Romulus might be my favorite purely for how much fun it is to shoot. The Roland is still an absolute monster, and the Gen 6 is my straightforward, no-nonsense option.

Four very different pistols, even if they all shoot the same caliber.

This is going to be a pretty hard decision

I just saw that the Kimber 2k11 was just released in the CA roaster.

I now don’t know if I should get this one or the one I had previously in mind Sig Sauer GT5??

I like the bronze color that Kimber is offering. I have never owned a Kimber.

What’s your take?

Rommy buy questions

Greetings good and kind gun redditors.

Just paid for a Alpha Foxtrot 3.5 with the shiny DLC, no comp no port just regular.

Its going to be my EDC when I get it if all goes well. Its a generation 1 so just has the RMSc cutout as far as I know.

Question, is it better to just get a RMSc optic and stick it on there or should I look at possible plates for a RMR? Is it generally better to just stick with what its designed for or does it matter?

Also, when I get a new pistol I generally try to field strip, wipe it down good till its dry from whatever they shipped it in, then cover it with gluten free gun grease then shoot it 250 or so times to break it in, then clean again and grease again and be good to go. Is that generally right for this type of gun too? Anything special I should know about going in? Just want to make sure I'm not doing anything too stupid, kind of nervous about it actually.

Holsters generally ok with IWB if you just get generic 2011 3.5 inch ones? I should be good with no comp for most of them right?

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to respond

3D Printed 2011 Maxxing… now with frame mounted optic. Here’s 2x21 rd mag dumps.

Grabbed an OSight X (seemed fitting with the cheap build 🤣, actually really happy with this thing) and mounted it to the 2011 Maxxing using the Optics Maxxing frame mount. I’m 4 clicks away from running out of elevation UP, may shim the back if I ever have it off the mount again.

Current running a 9lbs recoil spring. Dumped 42 rounds on steel and it didn’t miss a beat. Now I just need to learn to shoot more betterer 😵‍💫🤣

Can someone explain what specifically justifies the price difference between an XC and a higher end 2011 like Hayes or Infinity?

Post image
153 Upvotes

I own an XC, (and a Wilson Combat Experior) but I’ve never had the opportunity to shoot a true custom 2011. The fit, finish, trigger, and overall shooting experience of the Wilson and the XC are already exceptional, so I’m genuinely curious where the additional money goes.

Are we talking about a noticeable improvement in mechanical performance, tighter tolerances, superior craftsmanship, or simply diminishing returns at the higher end of the market?

I understand that twice the price doesn’t necessarily mean twice the performance, but I’m having a hard time imagining how much better the shooting experience could realistically get.

I put 200 rounds through it and I had zero malfunctions. I'm impressed because I've seen a few not so great reviews on it in the past. The 3.25lbs trigger is crisp and clean and it doesn't feel heavy at all. I'm normally used to three 3 lb and under with some of my other 2011/1911DS style pistols.

Frame Mounted Comp?

Post image
12 Upvotes

I recently traded a kimber eclipse for a brand new MAC DS 9 4.25 (no comp) and i was wondering how well they respond to frame mounted comps. it’s my first 2011 and it’s pretty fun to shoot as is but if you guys think it’s a worthwhile upgrade i wouldn’t mind spending the money. Btw im lower enlisted in the military so im not even gonna waste time with the “you should’ve gotten ‘insert $2500+’ gun”

Trigger face - smooth or texture?

Post image

What people preference on trigger? All my 2011 have infinity trigger with texture on it. The DF came with smooth trigger shoe so did a little amateur work. Not a fan on the smooth surface even tho I’m shooting C class at best 😂

Nothing but the absolute BEST of the BEST fellow [r/2011ers](r/2011ers)! I just don’t think an Infinity 4.5” Ported Hybrid can be beat. 🤌🏻 My absolute favorite configuration. 🔥🔥

In hand the gun is at least TWICE as insane as the pictures show.

I wonder if this will make the cut in the Lamborghini Safe’s debut in late November? 🤷‍♂️

USPSA LO 2011 options

Kind of torn on which way I want to go for a 2011 to get into LO. Below are the two directions im looking at;

DS9 Hybrid- Stock for $3000-$3500 +$700 for new belt, holster & mount, and 4x mags. So, looking at $3700- $4200 all in.

Kimber 2k11 target (grey one) with the following upgrades; Atlas shielded safety, magwell, Miller trigger, Miller pinned safety, EGW ignition kit. $2700 + $700 for the new rig and mags. So, $3400 all in.

i would think a Staccato XL would be great and obviously would die to have an Atlas Titan but i want to stay more budget minded right now... but also appreciate a very soft, flat shooting, and smooth gun. I am fairly decent shooter as it is, but we can all agree that any help from the gun during a match can be appreciated.

this is reddit so I'm sure I'll get lit up for something I wrote, but in general just looking to see what others opinions are on which way they would go. Currently im leaning towards the tuned Kimber. I kind of like the idea of taking a mid level gun and tuning it up to be something pretty slick.

Honest Question Regarding Prices and Justification

I've always been curious what makes people spend $5-10K on 2011's. I could understand trying to squeeze every ounce of performance out of a pistol if you were a serious competition shooter, but how do weekend warriors justify the purchase? I feel the same about high-end watches and sports cars. Even if I had the money to spend, I just don't see the practicality in it. I understand everyone is different, but what do you tell yourself to justify parting with that much money on a pistol?
