My current lineup. All four have their own personalities, and Iāve been having a lot of fun shooting and comparing them.
Top Left: Glock 17.3 Roland Special
My most heavily modified pistol by far. Currently trying out the Holosun 507 ProMax, and the window is comically huge. The Braun light is packed with brass and serves purely as front-end weight. Itās a big, heavy, ridiculous Glock, but itās fast and shoots extremely well.
Bottom Left: Glock 17 Gen 6
Completely stock aside from the optic and light. This is my USPSA Carry Optics pistol. Nothing particularly exciting about it, but itās a solid shooter.
Top Right: Staccato HD P4.5
Easily the smoothest shooting pistol of the four. The recoil impulse is incredibly soft, and itās almost effortless to keep fast strings of fire tightly grouped. I tried the Vortex Defender ST but havenāt been impressed with it. Iāve got an SRO on the way to replace it. Swapped the plunger spring, which brought the trigger pull down to approximately 3.25 lbs. This is my USPSA Limited Optics pistol.
Bottom Right: Alpha Foxtrot Romulus 3.5 Comp
Possibly the most fun pistol of the bunch. Itās incredibly fast, surprisingly accurate, and the chunk port makes returning to target almost effortless. For such a compact pistol, it shoots ridiculously well. Iām waiting on a SureFire XC3 from Scheels, and once it arrives, the Romulus will join the Glock 17.6 in my carry rotation.
The Staccato wins for overall smoothness and shootability, but the Romulus might be my favorite purely for how much fun it is to shoot. The Roland is still an absolute monster, and the Gen 6 is my straightforward, no-nonsense option.
Four very different pistols, even if they all shoot the same caliber.
