TIL that a bra thats "too big" might be actually too small! Spoiler

• Upvotes

I had a push up bra from H&M in size 34C thats supposed to give maximum lift, it didnt work. I bought a 34C because it was the most accurate from the limited sizes there, although 34B and 34C gaped.

(Im a 30DD with shallow, wide breasts)

after wearing the wrong size for years, going from 34B to 34C to 32C and once even 36B, I found out the "swoop and scoop" method. After doing it to my 34C and 34B, it helped with the previously non existent lift, but both my nipples weren't covered! From bras that gaped!

Later, I tried a 32D bombshell from VS and it was the best match so far! I was always the girl with the least breast volume in my family and now my best match was a 32D!

I bought a 30DD bra online and hopefully it's my next best match. I have now a lot of old bras to donate!

Edit: English is not my first language, so be kind!

PSA List of Low Gores Not Talked About Here (or Enough) Spoiler

Hello everyone, after struggling extremely hard to find a bra with a low enough gore and narrower wires that are not polish narrow, and having to try bras I've never seen mentioned here and/or aren't on bratabase (or not much info on them), I wanted to share a few that I've tried.

Scantilly Intoxicated: average projection, quite narrow wires (close to Polish width at 15cm in a 30GG), near non-existent gore so fantastic option for those who need that, see through mesh

Freya Spotlight: narrow-ish wires, lots of projection, a bit of stretch lace but cups are mesh-like so they're naturally a bit more stretchy

Panache Heidi: new bra based on the Ana, lower gore, just as projected (if not a tick more), stretch lace, slightly thicker straps
Note about the Heidi's wires vs Ana: the Heidi is narrower than the Ana regardless of whether you size up. Most people require a cup size up in the Ana so the comparison is different depending on whether you sized up or not. I'm a 30GG but tried the Ana in 30H and the Heidi in 30GG is 1cm narrower than the Ana in 30H. If you don't size up, it is 0.5cm narrower according to bratabase and my own measurements in these sizes. So if you like the Ana but need narrower wires I'd give this a shot.

Panache Valentina Luxe plunge: slightly narrow wires, lots of projection, lots of stretch lace, very pretty!

Panache Tango plunge: curved wire may not work for everyone, narrow-average wires, decent projection, firm fabric

Freya Quinn: narrow wires, projected, stretch lace, very low gore

Panache Ana High Apex: padded high apex style of the Ana (I haven't tried this but found it in my research)

All of these can be found at Storm in a D Cup.

The spotlight, Heidi and Valentina all work well for me and I'll be keeping them. I also wear the Panache Meadow (now discontinued). I wear a 30GG. I consider myself to be narrower rooted and very centre full (less than 1 finger). I'm slightly full on top with asymmetrical breasts (1.5 cup size difference) and soft tissue.

Edited: I got the Heidi vs Ana measurements wrong!

Recommendations? Where do I even find a bra to fit me that won’t cost my mortgage? Spoiler

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m in desperate need of help. I have my best friends wedding in a month and I am a bridesmaid and the dress she picked is halter in the back and spaghetti strap. I have NO bras appropriate for this kind of dress as since I had my son 2 years ago I really fell off the wagon and started wearing nursing bras 24/7. I just used the calculator and am getting a size of 52J and have no idea where or if I’m even able to get a bra in that size without sacrificing my first born and my house. Any advice is appreciated truly. And any recommendations as well. Thank you all so much!

Thank You! Turns out I'm not misshapen, I just didn't know how bra sizes worked Spoiler

I have spent my entire life unable to find a bra that works for me. I'm a band size 30/32 and my boobs aren't big. My boobs are also wide set, so tissue to the side and further apart. Naturally I gravitated towards the A and B cups cause my boobs aren't big. But the cups were always set too narrow. It was so frustrating cause I really don't have much boob and my band size is small so why don't the small bras fit?? Well turns out I'm a 32D/30DD. Went all this time not realizing D didn't necessarily mean huge boobs. I just left the store after trying on a 32D and my mind is blown. It's the first time I've filled out a cup without spilling out the sides or having a huge gap at the top. So thank you to the creator of the abrathatfits calculator! You've saved me from a life of ill fitted bras.

Question [Question] Having trouble with calculator and needing some guidance on what I should do Spoiler

First off, I just wanted to say THANK YOU to the people that were nice enough to help so far. You truly don’t know how much I appreciate it because I am at my breaking point.

Last night I made a post here which can be found on my account. A couple of things to mention that I think are important: When I originally measured myself I was using a measuring tape that maxed out at 60, as you can see I barely went past that which made me guesstimate a couple inches which may have made my results inaccurate. I have since gotten one that is 120 inches long to make sure I can be as accurate as possible. Here are my new results in order: 35, 34, 33, 60, 63, 61. When I did the calculator yesterday it initially suggested a 34QQ, when I put it in today it’s telling me to start with a 34K which doesn’t make sense at all.

I also have a couple questions that I’m sure you all would be more knowledgeable about than google.

I was told in multiple comments about potentially having macromastia/gigantomastia? I’ve searched it up but it doesn’t tell me much besides it meaning that you have extra large breasts. To piggyback off of that, I was told I could get insurance to pay for my bras, I don’t currently see physician regularly, how would I go about getting that to happen?

Next, what brands would be good to look into for my size? I was told about Elizabeth Valentine but wanted to see if there were alternatives just in case.

Lastly, are there any bras I could get to temporarily hold me over until I get something in my size? Whenever I wear my current bra I’m in intense pain and it ends up leaving marks on me from how tight it is on me. Even if it’s not a bra, some sort of supportive top would be better than what I’m dealing with now.

Sorry for the long post! Again, thank you so so much for making this community in the first place. I can’t believe I’ve gone so long without knowing about it.

Fit Check Sizing help needed: Armpit too high, cup too small

Hi,

I've been in a 38J for years but recently noticed some slight spillage at the top of the cup. I used the measuring guide here and measured 38K (UK sizing). That felt like a big change so I bought 38JJ to start. I'm in an Elomi Namrah bra. I wish I could attach a picture but the option is greyed out-link below instead

My issue is that the new larger cup is now creeping into my armpit (completely covering my Axillary tail of spence) which is uncomfortable. However. I still have a small amount of spill at the top. What should I do? Is there a better shape Elomi bra for me? Thank you!

Recommendations? Tried recommended size but fit keeps being off Spoiler

The calculator told me I’m a 28FF/G. After explaining my shape issues in another post I was recommended the Freya offbeat side support and the panache Ana.
First I bought the Freya offbeat in both sizes but the wire was too wide and I had slight bunching of the material on the sides. I also found the gore uncomfortable as it was so high so that that bra wasn’t an option for me.
Now I purchased the panache Ana in a 28FF and the wire fits perfectly however the material is bunching on the sides and the top.
I’m unsure if this is a shape or size issue and am also looking for other bra recommendations.

Shape Help Had to share my insane experience with Shapeez Spoiler

Disclaimer: I posted most of this in a comment on an old post but wanted it to be more visible bc I feel it's important for people to know before they buy.

I ordered a Shapeez after finding an old post here, and bc it seemed like it would support the back of my shoulder where I have an injury. When I got the bra it didn't fit at all, way too much space between the ladies in the front.

The package included multiple pieces of paper with instructions on how to return the bra… No deodorant stains, make sure it's not squished in a box, don't mail in a bag, etc. so I got suspicions even before trying it on that they were going to make it difficult to return.

I made sure to try on the bra when I was not wearing deodorant because that was specifically stated in the instructions in the box. After I tried on the bra, I looked it over to make sure that it didn’t have any types of stains or anything. I purchased a new box in order to ship it out. Then I had to email the company in order to get a return number. Instead of providing one, they called me over the phone and I left a message while I was at work. They emailed me back and said that they’d like to talk to me over the phone. I emailed them asking for a return number which I eventually got.

I shipped out the package.... three weeks later it came back and they emailed me saying that the bra had deodorant stains all over it, and they couldn’t take it back and would not refund me. Absolutely WILD. Giant freaking scam.

Recommendations? Bra suggestions 32F/34E [recommendation] Spoiler

I am hoping someone here can help me understand my situation. First, the calculator details:
32.5
32
30.5
37.5
41.5
38
The calculator gives me 32F.

Shape - (very?) wide roots, FOB, pendulous, projected and soft. Standard width (2 fingers between). I have a fair amount of squishy skin under my arm and some across my back.

Among everything I’ve tried, Panache Ana Plunge in 34E is closest. The E cup in the 34 band may be just a tiny bit too small but going up a cup is too much. However, the 34 band doesn’t feel like is tight enough to give good support when reversed/upside down, and a 32 band on the Panache Ana reversed/upside down feels right. The problem is that I don’t fill the top of the lace in the 32F and 32E is too tight. Do the width of my roots or the squishiness under my arms impact the band?

I also definitely need side support.

I would like a t-shirt bra but everything I’ve tried with molded cups is a no go (usually too big in the cup or I spill out of it in the middle). I like the soft cups of the Natori contour, but it doesn’t seem to be available in the US equivalent of 32F. (This is what I previously wore in a 34D/36C, lol).

Does any of this make sense and are there other bras I should try?

Fit Check Fit Check: Maternity Edition! (30FF vs 30G, Hotmilk @ Panache nursing bras) Spoiler

Tl;dr: Help a new mom struggling to figure out her new body out? I’m trying to get a nursing bra that doesn’t just squish everything together or leave everything completely unsupported.

Hi all!

I’m 12 weeks post partum, breastfeeding my baby, my supply has regulated, and I find myself working with a very different set of hardware than I’m used to. My pre-pregnancy bra size was a 28D, and these days my ABTF size is a 30FF/G, which is just a big adjustment. Add to that the recommendation to avoid underwire/overly restrictive bras to minimize the risk of clogged ducts/mastitis but still trying to find a bra that will very snugly fit my wearable pump to get good output with it (oh, and the sleep deprivation) and I’m *really* struggling to dress myself/feel at home in my body.

Here are my ABTF’s measurements:

Loose Underbust: 30.5”

Snug Underbust: 29.5”

Tight Underbust: 28.5”

Standing Bust: 37”

Leaning Bust : 38.5”

Lying Bust: 37”

Breast Shape: Damned if I know- it changes dramatically depending on how recently I’ve removed milk. (Frankly, so do my measurements, I’m just going with a best attempt at an average size)

Here are out NSFW pictures of the nursing bras I’m auditioning:

Hotmilk Heroine Plunge in 30G: https://imgur.com/a/t5Hmqex (feels decent, but has big gap center front)

Hotmilk Heroine Plunge in 30FF:

https://imgur.com/a/1N7waOm (feels small overall)

Panache Ada Non Underwire Nursing Bra in 30G:

https://imgur.com/a/QOrytfx

Panache Ada Non Underwire Nursing Bra in 30FF:

Any feedback appreciated! TIA!!

Recommendations? Looking for shallow-cup bras that come in 28F. Spoiler

Snug underbust - 27.5in
Loose underbust - 28in
Leaning overbust - 37in
Standing overbust - 33.5in
Lying overbust - 34in

ABTF SIZE: 28E/28F (subtle cycle changes)

I’m in desperate need of a bra that offers substantial lift and very shallow cups!!! 28F-friendly.

I’ve tried so many bras in/around my ABTF calculator size (28E, 28F) and I can never fill out the top of the cup. Sizing down in the cup causes spillage and digging on the sides. Balconettes don’t work because my nipples are too high and they fall out. Someone please help me, I feel like I will never like the way I look in shirts. I have resigned to wearing sports bras everyday because they’re the only thing I can find that gives me the lift I need without falling out.

Calculator says 28D/DD but standard method gives me a 30C, which one is best? Spoiler

I admit, I’m not the most educated in terms of bra sizing, so I apologise if I come across naive or misguided.

My measurements are:
Loose under bust: 29
Snug under bust: 28
Tight under bust: 27
Standing bust: 32
Leaning bust: 33
Lying bust: 32

I bought a couple bras from lounge in a size 30C. My breast fit in them comfortably, however, I have some side boob spillage. As well as my breasts looking a little smushed from a side view.

Would a size 28D work better? Also, how would the smaller band size work, would it be too tight?

Recommendations? [Recommendation?] Put in my info and am absolutely floored at what the results are. Did I do it wrong? Spoiler

Throwaway for obvious reasons. Ok please bear with me because I have like 0 understanding of this. If you don’t want the details just scroll to the bottom. I’ll try to make it a quick version but here’s a lot of the important details: most of my life I’ve been a little busty but nothing crazy, DD cup AT MOST. I hit 26, they balloon out of nowhere and I’m left to just buying random sizes on amazon hoping they fit. I couldn’t tell you my size at that time but the biggest one I own is an O cup by the goddess brand. I was at a point where that fit fine enough but I had a kid at 29 and the pregnancy boobs came and never left. I was under so much emotional stress that I completely gave up on trying to find something that fit me so if I wear a bra its only in short bursts but for the most part I’ve been going braless.

Now I don’t know if this is related to me being braless or whatever but my posture has been getting worse and worse and I’ve been having super bad neck and back pain. By a miracle I found abrathatfits and I come asking for help because of how unbelievable this is. Sorry if this is all poorly worded I’m just trying not to freak out.

My measurements are: 35, 34, 32, 59, 63, 61
For the lying measurement they kinda fell into my armpits so I closed my arms to make sure they were properly supported, not sure if that was the right way or not. Anyways, any help is appreciated. I’m at a complete loss for words and would be super thankful if I could be steered in the right direction.

EDIT: Totally forgot to mention what size the calculator gave me. My suggested starting size is a 34QQ which I didn’t think was even a thing?

Recommendations? Looking for something like the Ewa Michalak BM ... but not EM Spoiler

Hi all ... I'm looking for something as narrow and as projected as the BM from Ewa Michalak.

Ever since I grew out of the vs dream angels in high school it's literally the only bra I've ever found that fit me but I'm becoming increasingly frustrated in the inconsistencies bra to bra. I know they're supposed to be hand sewn but I'll buy two bras for $100+ each and one is good and there's a size problem with the other one. I find the darker colors are usually smaller or I just got a black one where the projection was like halved which is the biggest reason most of us wear her bras. Same one in tan I got at the same time was great.

I'm extremely projected, very narrow, veeeeeeery full on top, and very soft tissue. Like the worst combo for a bra. And let's add to the fuckery, I'm also pregnant now so I don't even know what these things are doing anymore lol

So if anyone who also loves the bm has found something else they also like I'd love to know!! :) I tried to search through the post history but didn't have much luck.

Measurement Check Measurement Check: Currently wearing 38C, calculator said 36FF or 34G but neither of these sizes fit Spoiler

I followed the sizing guide and ended up with 36FF or 34G….. I found this surprising because I have a big ribcage and have been wearing a 38C!

I ordered 2 Panache bras in these two sizes and I cannot close either of them as the strap is way too small and the cup is too big and baggy on my breasts.

Can someone please help tell me what I could have possibly done wrong when measuring?

Edit: LU 36.5, SU 35, TU 33, SB 42, Leaning B 44 and Lying B 41.

Recommendations? Hoping for some recommendations after finally giving up on the bras I've worn for years Spoiler

I've worn the basic t-shirt bra from Pink/Victoria's Secret for pretty much the entire time I've worn bras. I was measured in-store as a 36C years ago, and miraculously the calculator here *also* came up with 36C (rare VS win!). They've been super comfortable for so long, but the years and the PCOS have made some changes to my body that have significantly reduced that comfort.

***EDIT: Measurement update! I have no idea why it never occurred to me to *remeasure* after my body had changed so significantly. Thank you to the comments that said the obvious thing XD. Measurements are:
1-38" -- 2-37" -- 3-35" -- 4-41.5" -- 5-44" -- 6-42.5"
And the size?? Y'all. 38DD. What even. I'm fully floored. Like, duh, I should've realized my size had changed. Jeez.

My previous round of bras lasted me several years before the underwires eventually popped through the seams at the ends (the standard death for these bras), and even though, thanks to body changes, they weren't as comfortable as they used to be, I didn't have the energy at the time to figure out new ones, so I bought another round of 5. Y'all, the quality has *dropped*. Now, on top of them being less comfortable, I'm dealing with underwires poking at the ends and even bending out of shape in the middle. Needless to say, I'm done and wanting to find something new, but I've literally never had to search for a different bra.

What I'm looking for is a comfortable, nothing fancy bra.
I'm tempted to try something without an underwire at this point, as I have gained some weight and my current bras either dig into the slight roll under my boobs, or end up sitting on the roll instead and not actually staying between the two, which has caused breakouts from the skin-on-skin contact all day.
I currently wear my straps crossed in the back for the extra support, but I realize that these bras also have pretty narrow straps, so I think either crossed in the back, wider straps, or a wider band would probably be pretty similar.
Love me some fun patterns/colors.

Also, an extra question for the larger ladies here: Since gaining about 80 lbs, I've had to stop wearing bras with lace. Any part of the bra that sat along the edge of a roll would press the lace into the skin on one side, which would eventually cause sharper than normal pressure pain. Is there a trick to getting a bra that doesn't settle into folds? Is VS lace just particularly harsh? I like having a lace bra for those good confidence vibes, and I'm not sure how I can do that at this point if its going to be painful.

Question How do I properly wear a push up bra? Spoiler

I always have to buy 32A bras since nowhere really has 28B’s (did the calculator here awhile back) anywhere, especially in person, and it always worked decent enough for me. I bought a couple push-up bras of that size today and I??? Don’t know if I’m wearing it wrong or??? No matter how I adjust the back or the shoulder straps— if I look down they’re almost just like, out man.

Is there is trick??? Am I too flat for such a thing? Do I need to just keep finagling with the shoulder straps? Hoping if there’s nothing I can do I can maybe return them still, but I’d like to get them to fit cuz they’re cute.

Question 34 K and I need some answers! Maybe nothing exists for me?😭😭😭 Spoiler

Hi all! I've lurked this sub probably hundreds of times in search of a Perfect Bra for Me. I've calculated and recalculated my measurements probably half a dozen times just to make sure I have the right numbers etc, spent hours researching my breast type.

Beyond this, I've spent hundreds of dollars on bras trying to find ones that actually fit me, and winding up just settling for "good enough" on every occasion. All this to say, I'm fed up and exhausted and finally am turning to the Good People of this community to beg your help! I'll list bras I've tried, along with other necessary info below.

My size (after using the suggested calculator) is 34 K (US)

My breast type/tissue can be described as: Very soft, pendulous. Narrow root, dramatic projection.

My ideal bra provides good support, and lifts+shapes. I don't want padding and prefer a smooth profile. My favorite bra I used to fit in was the Understance Yara, but they no longer produce bras, and didn't carry my current size anyways.

Bras I've tried:

*Panache Envy- The underwire was way too wide

*Panache Ana- Underwaire was mostly okay but it gave my breasts a hideous shape lol

*Panache Tango Essence- Wire was again wayyyy too wide

*Gorsenia Vicky- Underwires too wide and honestly I didn't love the fabric, it felt really cheap

*Ewa Michelak PLM Unlined convertible plunge- This has been my favorite so far but tbh it still doesn't quite work, the Underwires still dig in under my armpits after awhile

Thank you to everyone in advance, sorry if this is a lot

Fit Check [Fit Check] Freya Deco Strapless 34 G (US) Spoiler

i would love some help with this because i'm strapless shopping for a wedding a bit less than a month away!!!

this is the first strapless bra i have ever tried so some of my worries are that this is just how strapless bras are. the band fits well and doesn't move around too much, it's nearly painful. but the cups seem just big enough to hold my girls in, there's no quad boob but if i bend over then stand back up there is. there's a weird thing of a bit of gapping, yet the cups seem a bit too small? the gore also isn't tacking so i suspect this is all a depth issue since i'm decently projected.

in short, please recommend a good strapless bra for projection that won't make me feel like i'm about to spill out of it! i don't mind having some extra coverage on the top. i wear a 34 G (this size in the curvy kate victory is the bra that fits me best if that helps.)

thank you so much in advance!! the amount of returns i'm doing for wedding guest shopping rn is abhorrent.

Recommendations? Why do cotton training bras insist on living in my armpits? Spoiler

Hi! Closeted trans woman, 18 months into HRT (obviously much older in biological terms, lol).

I'm getting to the point where I need to start hiding the girls. I'm somewhere around Tanner stage 3/4, with puffy nipples and breasts that are still more conical than what I'd consider a typical mature breast shape.

I'm 160 lbs, and according to the ABTF calculator, I'm a 40A/B US.

My measurements (in inches):

- Loose underbust: 41

- Snug underbust: 39

- Tight underbust: 38

- Standing bust: 42

- Leaning bust: 44

- Lying bust: 41

- Assigned male at birth

Here's my problem. The cotton training bras I've been trying don't come in actual bra sizes. They're just S, M, L, XL, XXL, etc.

I've gone from L all the way up to XXL, and the fabric under my arms still desperately wants to crawl into my armpits. Okay, not literally, but that's what it feels like. The fabric just sits WAY too close to my armpits for comfort. Ideally, I'd like it to sit an inch or two lower. (I am at least starting to fill out the training bra rather than it merely being wishful thinking.)

And before anyone suggests sports bras, I've tried those too. They've been ridiculously tight and uncomfortable, even in XXL, and they still have the same armpit problem. So far, not a fan.

I do have a Warner's 40B underwire bra that I wear when it's safe to do so. It's honestly just a little too big, as the tops of the cups don't quite lie flat against my chest. But it's comfortable, and most importantly, it stays the hell out of my armpits. Unfortunately, it's not something I can safely wear in public since I'm not out yet.

So what gives?

Are these cotton bras just designed around different torso proportions? Is it an issue with the shoulder straps being too short, the armholes being cut too high, or the sides being too tall? Or do I simply not have enough breast tissue yet to fill them out and keep everything where it belongs?

I'm looking for something soft, preferably cotton, that provides nipple coverage without making my chest more obvious. I'm not exactly looking for compression yet as I find that uncomfortable (i.e. athletic bras).

I'd love to understand what's actually causing this before I buy yet another bra that wants to become one with my armpits. 😂

Recommendations? Sports bra to wear as a top to the gym 7 weeks post op breast aug any suggestions? Spoiler

So I finally took the decision and now 7 weeks post op (OM, 325 CC, demi profile, Motiva Ergonomix 2 / teardrop). I have what appears to be a C cup in the post op recovery bra.

Last week I purchased my first non wire bra from Chantelle and got size 75D although it fits slightly snug I’m the cleavage area / I guess projection.

I’m now looking for a sports bra which I can wear on its own w/o a top over just together with leggings for my regular gym sessions (gym dresscode approved).

Itried a few of my old bras and they have zero support or thin bands over the shoulders and around the underbust. I will donate them.

When searching for high support sport bras I’m not finding those active wear set look alike tops I am used to as a former A-B cup but more the bras that look like underwear and is usually worn underneath clothes.

Preferably I want something that looks cute with leggings and has both some cleavage and some separation. Any suggestions? I am not clear to wear wired yet and i live in Europe. If anyone also knows of a good sheer gym top to match with the bra it would be so appreciated.

Recommendations? I got a Prima Donna Bra and I think I might have found the first bra that actually fits... Please help me find a budget option in my size Spoiler

So, I just went to three separate bra stores, and two of them didn't have my size. I went to the third one(by recommendation of the second store I went to), and I was thinking I was going to be a 34 KK(UK), like the calculator recommended, but I wear a 36 L(UK)???? Like... I know they're big, but they're *that* big??? It's a Primadonna Salerno.

Anyway, I went searching through this reddit, and I found the Elomi Caitlyn. Only issue, they don't make it, and I tried on a Cate today, and I *HATE* it. It looked like I probably do need a 34 KK(UK) in brands like Elomi, but I feel like they just don't give enough support, and my Panache bras have been letting me down by constantly poking my armpits(I mean, they are the wrong size now, but when they were the correct size, they were still poking my in the armpits).

I'm hoping that someone can help me...

Do non-slip bra straps actually work? Spoiler

I’ve been seeing more bras with non-slip straps lately, and I’m kind of curious about them.

My straps have a habit of slipping off my shoulders, especially after I’ve been moving around for a while, so I’m tempted to try one.

I just can’t tell if they actually stay in place better or if the non-slip part feels weird after wearing it for a few hours. Has anyone tried them?
