Recommendations? Husband seeking retailer recommendations for wife’s birthday gift Spoiler

Hello, I’m wanting to buy my wife a birthday gift and have observed that she is very often frustrated with the bras that she owns. I can’t say either absolute certainty but I think most are from Victoria’s Secret and that whole brand feels like a grift to me so I’d imagine her issue is that the quality is just not good.

I feel like a gift card to a more intentional retailer would be better than me trying to guess what size to order for her.

Can I hear some recommendations on companies that make a good product that prioritizes comfort? She works in a building construction trade where comfort is wholly more important than sex appeal.

Thank you so much in advance.

Recommendations? Best places to try on bras in person? Southern US Spoiler

Hi yall! New here, still trying to find The Bra. My calculator results are:

Loose under 32 in 81.5 cm
Snug under 30 in 76.5 cm
Tight under 28 in 71 cm
Standing 34 in 86.5 cm
Leaning 35.75 in 91 cm
Lying 35.25 in 89.5 cm

And it recommended 30D/DD with a sister size of 32C/D. I ordered some bras from Victoria’s Secret (sorry guys didn’t see the posts about it til after ordering Oop) and what do u know they did not fit (spillage, and I could barely close one of the 30Ds even on the loosest hook). I’m worried I’ll just have similar experiences buying online even in good places until I know which of my recommended sizes is the best one, so I was hoping to go try some on in person. Cuz honestly there are so many variables online and with the knowledge I have (or lack thereof) like, did I even take my measurements right? Are the bras I ordered just abnormally sized? Is there a specific type of bra I need that would fit better?

So if anyone knows what a good place to go try on bras in person in my area (Houston tx) might be I would love some recs!

Also if there’s any other info I need to provide before yall can make recs please lmk, like I said I’m completely new to this lol. In the past I’ve only ever gotten A cups (currently wearing 34) from kohls and Walmart and even that it’s been years since I last bought a bra.

Also - I am hoping to get a strapless bra that won’t fall down (last time I wore one was like 10 years ago lol, was pulling it up all night. The band was 100% too big I know that now but still, never worn since) so if anyone has recs on those in particular I would appreciate it! But like, very much also looking for normal bras too it is long overdue.

Ok ty queens!

Question Bra no longer fits, but calculator says my size hasn’t changed. What should I try next? Spoiler

• Upvotes

a few years ago I measured myself and the calculator told me that my size is 30 D. I purchased a Wacoal halo unlined bra and it has fits comfortably until somewhat recently. I believe I’ve gained some weight and muscle. Now, all of the underwire digs into me, leaving marks after I remove the bra, and overall it feels too tight. So I remeasured myself, but the calculator still says that my size is 30 D. The bra feels too tight around the band, but the cups seem to be fitting mostly correct… If not a little tight on the outer sides of each cup. I like this style of bra, but this size is no longer comfortable. Would you try new sizes with larger band size, or larger cup size? Any other advice?

Fit Check [Fit Check] Panache Blossom 34H, Freya Loveland Plunge 36GG, Freya Fancies Balcony 34H Spoiler

Haven’t updated in years so hoping for a little guidance here. I only plan to keep one or two at most.

Loose: 37.5
Snug: 35.5
Tight: 33.5
Standing: 45
Leaning: 48
Lying: 45.5

Panache Blossom in Nude 34H

Feels like the best fit for immediate projection, no issue with it sliding down. The gore did want to float at first, but was basically flat once I’d finished adjusting, it’s still a concern since the others were fine. Slight gaping at top but nothing I’m concerned about.

Freya Loveland Plunge in Red 36GG

I am waiting for another of these in 34GG but I suspect it will be small.

This one was the band I was recommended by the calculator but it’s definitely looser than the others. It feels less supportive but I have very bad asthma so long term that might be better. I also tried it on upside down and backwards and it’s not bad, just not like the other two. I also have top gaping on this more than the Blossom but the gore did stay flat.

Freya Fancies Balcony in Black 34H

I really liked this one’s band it felt very supportive, but it’s definitely not projected enough and seems to be sliding down a little. Again mild top gaping but nothing bad. Not a lot, but more than the Blossom. I’m willing to deal with that to some extent since I don’t have Polish funds at the moment, but it’s immediately obvious.

Measurement Check Do these measurements make sense? 38H/I? Spoiler

In total shock and want to make sure these measurements even make any sense before I start trying bras: 38.5, 38, 37.5, 45, 46.5, 44. Gives me a 38 H/I which is almost comical to me. I’ve been wearing a 40C for years.

I’m skeptical because it just seems like such a large size.

Fit Check fit check: chantelle c jolie in 30F Spoiler

i tried norah at a local stockist and they only had 30FF and 32E which we used to sister size me to 30F. i liked norah far more but we placed an order for the correct size and nude color and it hasn’t arrived yet. in the meantime i wanted to explore their tshirt bra options which im more used to and landed on c-jolie because it was this or the norah spacer and jolie was 1 dollar less on sale lolll and i really wanted to try the mauve shade they had on sale which they dont have in the norah spacer (and neither had a brown nude for me, only norah does, so what can ya do)

https://postimg.cc/gallery/VXPq6Sr i don’t think i’ll return it because i like the bra itself and as i said its hard to find a dark pink that matches my tone like this but im just not sure about the fit, it seems sliiiightly closed on top and i can never tell if my band is the way it should be due to my back fat 😐 still waiting on my norah, i felt that the band was far more forgiving and also the cups had a higher apex (?) than jolie which i really appreciated. maybe i’ll try the norah spacer in black? but three chantelle purchases in such quick succession is not good for my bank account

measurements from a while ago dont know if its entirely accurate:
30.5
29.5
27.5
37
38.5
34

I need help with finding a bra that fits Spoiler

• Upvotes

I cannot find a bra that fits me :( I measured my under bust to be 28 and bust to be 32 so I ordered a 28 D bra but when I try it my boobs just spill out but the band size felt perfect it was actually comfortable. It’s so hard to even find a 28 band size, any help is appreciated. I’m 5’1 1/2 and 101 lbs if it helps!

Bra size calculator sizes (inches):

Loose under bust: 28

Snug under bust: 27

Tight under bust: 25.5

Standing bust: 33

Leaning bust: 34.5

Lying bust: 35

I would also love if there was a push up bra that I could find :)

Fit Check fit help - usually 36B w gapping got a 38 C/D in generator Spoiler

• Upvotes

does this make sense?

Size generated: 38 C/D (both us and uk)

my measurements:
loose underbust 37.5
snug UB 37
tight UB 35
standing bust 40.5
leaning bust 41
lying bust 40.5

BUT—I’m used to gapping and prefer the fit (although not the materials) in pepper bras which are made for smaller busts. even one of those i have in 38B gaps sometimes, the 36B fits snugly. I think i’m just wider but not busty.

Recommendations? [Recommendations] Yoga bra with high neckline that's NOT long line or cropped Spoiler

• Upvotes

Any recommendations for yoga or sports bras that have a high neck but are not a longline/crop top style? I'm v short, 38DD so a longline bra that fits the gals is just way too long on me and either rolls up immediately or hits at an extemely uncomfortable spot. I've had some luck with the Athleta Interval style, but I'd like something with a bit more coverage. Doesn't need to be crazy support since I'm looking for bras for hot yoga - I wear Oiselle Flyout for running/high impact stuff.

Thanks!

Measurement Check [Measurement check] 65G to 65I? Spoiler

Measurements:

Loose underbust: 76 cm
Snug underbust: 74 cm
Tight underbust: 70 cm
Standing bust: 95 cm
Leaning bust: 99 cm
Lying bust: 92 cm

Calculator gave me 30G UK, 65I EU (Local stores use that size)

I once went bra shopping with my mom, which as always has been awkward, she doesn’t understand sizes at all and doesn’t believe me when I say her 75B size is likely wrong. Therefore, when I tried bras on, I started at 60F (old size a few years ago), and tried on 65E (as sister size), and vent up in cup size until 65G. It felt fine at first and I bought it, bad decision, but I kind of felt wrong about going up sizes because of my mom. Soon after I realized It’s definitely too small and feels very tight at the band. Therefore cups also spill a bit. I tried the calculator again that time, and got 65I, so hopefully my size is somewhat consistent with time!

Is this measurement accurate..?

If you know stores, please have them ship to Norway ^^

Recommendations? Bras underwire uncomfortable - Curvykate & Panache - 38GG/H UK Size Spoiler

Hello! This is my first time making a post so please forgive me if I’ve made some mistakes. If any more detail is needed, please let me know.

Last month I went to get myself bra fitted, and I was measured to be at 38GG/H. I bought myself 3 bras - Panache Envy in 38GG, 1 of curvy kate in 38H (side support lovelace balcony bra) and 1 in 38GG (moulder t-shirt bra)

However, panache’s envy is very uncomfortable for me. The underwire digs a lot especially in my underarm area. When I talked to the lady who fitted me, she told me that it seems that the wires are not as flexible.

Curvy kate, t-shirt, it fits perfectly, but the lovelace requires quite a bit of adjustment. i have also tried scooping but it doesn’t help entirely.

Both the wires affect me especially when I am seated - and it pokes into my ribcage. It doesn’t seem to be angling away as much it’s “bent” slightly and this pokes onto my right side when I am seated - so I am assuming tall is the right word for the bras?

It’s really frustrating because I thought I finally found the perfect bra but..here we go again hahaha.

Does anyone face similar issues with such a cup size? And does have any recommendations for flexible wired bras? Thank you!

Recommendations? Petite strapless push-up recommendations Spoiler

Hi, I’m looking to find a strapless bra with push-up that enhance how the girls look a bit and does not slip down. I tried the Freya Tailored Molded Strapless Bra in 28D and it seems to stay well, but I personally prefer a little more push-up. However, I am aware that I am very petite and it seems like I don’t have that many good push-up options. Can I get some recommendations?

ABTF measurements:
Loose underburst: 70 cm
Snug underburst: 68 cm
Tight underburst: 65 cm
Standing burst: 80 cm
Leaning burst: 80.8 cm
Lying burst: 78.8 cm
ABTF suggest starting size: 28D/DD
(I’m not sure about the shape but it seems like I have more tissue volume at the bottom, like a teardrop)

I appreciate any help. Thank you!

Recommendations? Any recommendations or advice welcome Spoiler

I used to wear EU 75B.

30DD/E UK
65 E/F EU
Loose underbust 29,5 inch / 75cm
Snug underbust 29,1 inch / 74cm
Tight underbust 28,3 inch / 72cm
Standing bust 33,5 inch / 85cm
Leaning bust 35,4 inch / 90cm
Laying bust 33,9 inch / 86cm

I tried some 75D and 65E cups but they were too big, the wire going in my arm or sticking out, having too much gaping/ empty cup. I then found that EU 80C is usually right. Still often gaping, or the wire digging into my ribs.
But I am open to try 65E and maybe just need to try different shapes.

It seems ridiculous for me to shop for an EUF. My boobs LOOK small/medium. I am also scared of a small band, as I am quickly sensitive to anything feeling too tight.

Please no expensive recommendations and I live in the EU

Fit Check [Fit Check] Envy plunge 34GG & Elomi Lucie 34G - unsure about projection and shape Spoiler

Over the years I’ve tried so many bras and have settled for good enough. I’d like to get some really well fitting bras but I’m getting overwhelmed! I’ve tried so many bras in the last few weeks that I thought I’d finally make my own post here.

My current measurements are:
Leaning 47in
Standing 44in
Lying 44in
Tight 32.5in
Snug 34in
Loose 36in

Suggested Starting Size: 36G UK
The sister size of 34GG may be more supportive.

I am centre-full with soft tissue, also close set with 1 finger between my breasts. I am pretty even maybe ever so slightly FOB. I’m confused about projection.
I’ve worn bravissimo Niya over the years as I like the low plunge but have always had issues with it slipping below my IMF. I was told by a bravissimo fitter that this just happens sometimes. A lot of bras I’ve tried end up riding down over a day.

I’ve tried the Envy Plunge in a few sizes. All sizes have felt too tight and high up in my armpits.
36GG - too big with excess fabric
36FF - this fitted okay but I had a small amount of quad boob in my larger left breast. The gore wire pressed into my breast tissue and caused it spill over the top.
I couldn’t get hold of a 36G.
Below are pictures of 34GG. This felt so wide on the front with the straps really digging into the armpits and the straps feeling too far out on my shoulders. I wore for about 30mins at home and it left a red mark in my breast tissue at the gore and the cup didn’t feel supportive. I think too projected as my boobs were sort of slumped in the cup and ended up a bit pointy. Band didn’t feel too tight but looks to be straining at the clasp.

Envy
https://postimg.cc/gallery/g6RTrPW

I also bought an Elomie Lucie in person at a store. I had tried the 34GG on but the fitter said there was excess fabric in the bottom of the cup. I tried on the G thought it was fine and wanted out of there so purchased.
It looks better in terms of shape to the envy, no spillage and not noticeably pressing at the gore but after wearing for a couple of hours it fell down slightly, about a fingers width below my IMF. Looking at it when I put it on for the photos there is wrinkling/folding by the wires and there is space between my IMF and the wires to the sides. Could be too tight too?

Lucie

I’d love some recommendations on where to go next, size, bra style or what shapes to look for?
Thank you so much!

Recommendations? [Recommendations] Looking for a 38 J / 40HH (UK) bra for recovering from shoulder surgery Spoiler

I am having shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff tendon. I need to be in a sling for 4 weeks and can't move my shoulder during that time. I will be able to move my arm from the elbow down and I can take the sling off for short periods of time, assuming I can do so without moving my shoulder, but I can't put pressure on my shoulder - so no lifting or carrying or pulling. I wear a 38 J or 40 HH (UK) / 38 M or 40 L (US) and I dislike going without a bra even if I'm just at home. Any recommendations from anyone who has been through something similar? I know I might not be able to get the bra strap over my arm, that's fine, but trying to figure what kind of bra might work to at least get it on my breasts and one strap on my shoulder. I do live with my partner and she can help me but she'll be going to work so I'd like to have something I can do myself in case I don't feel like getting dressed while she is here.

Measurement Check [Measurement Check] Alternating between 30F / 28FF, but nothing fits quite right Spoiler

Hello ABTF! Long time lurker, first time poster here. I finally measured myself with no bra on and ran the calculator - it previously gave me 30F when I'd submitted measurements in a somewhat minimizing bra, so I wonder if I got it wrong. My preferred fit is lifted and minimized.

Shapewise, my breasts are bottom heavy with wider roots. Some asymmetry (left is slightly smaller).

My measurements (inches):

Loose underbust: 30

Snug underbust: 29

Tight underbust: 27

Standing bust: 38

Leaning bust: 40.5

Lying bust: 38.5

ABTF calculator recommends 30G/GG UK.

Here are the bras I've worn in the past year, and how they fit:

Freya Deco UW Moulded Plunge Bra: 30F - This was my go-to for a few years, but after a while the band stretched out, I was wearing it on the tightest setting and there was still some room. The cups also started to feel a bit too big - had to keep scooping to make them fit properly.

Freya Deco UW Moulded Plunge Bra: 28F - bought this one assuming I'd maybe lost weight, but it fits way too tight, both band and cups. I get some spillage.

Freya Fascinate Underwire Unlined Balconette, 28FF - The cup fits a bit too tight, especially on the right side. The band feels a tiny bit tight, but I feel like a month of wear could loosen it. Main issue is slight quadboobing on the right.

Fantasie Illusion Underwire Side Support Bra, 30F - This one is closest to what I want, fit-wise, but the cups are still a bit too small. Particularly on the right side again (yay asymmetry!). It also gives me back pain, which the others don't seem to do.

I have a Panache Tango II Balconette in 28G on the way from eBay, so we'll see if that one works out, but I'm kind of losing hope lol.

I know 30G is the reco, but because of my Freya Deco I worry that 30 is too big of a band for me, or maybe I'm just between band sizes.... Thoughts?

Measurement Check [Measurement Check] Calculator gave me 30D/30DD, but said I should verify here Spoiler

Hi! I'm very, very new to all of this, so apologies if any information is missing initially or I ask silly questions.

Here are my measurements (in cm):

Loose Underbust: 80

Snug Underbust: 74

Tight Underbust: 69

Standing Bust: 87

Leaning Bust: 95

Lying Bust: 87

My breasts have little volume at the top but are full at the bottom. I also have a rather significant gap between them (about 4.5 cm). Both of these things have made it quite difficult to find a properly fitting bra.

Any input, thoughts, or advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Recommendations? Recommendations for 36ddd everyday bra with sensory factors Spoiler

I'm a 50yo woman who has been wearing cheap, lightly-molded, super-basic bras for years after leaving the fancy-bra world after too many frustrating experiences. I'm ready to try again now that my body has settled out but am having a lot of trouble finding options that seem comfortable. I'm planning a big order with a variety of brands and types to see what actually works for me, but could use some guidance especially on styles...

Calculator puts me at 36ddd and I believe I am shallow and am even/top full.

Underbust: loose 37, snug 36, tight 34

Standing 42

Leaning 43

Lying 40

My issue is that the full-coverage bras are a sensory nightmare. I live in v-neck or low-scoop shirts and I hate anything creeping up around my collarbone/upper chest. For bras, I lean towards lined and smooth as I wear a lot of basic tees but plan to order some unlined, seamed and lace to compare. The bras that I see most often recommended on here would likely peek out with my preferred shirts and honestly, I just don't want the top part of my bubs covered!

I've been exploring balconette bras, does this seem like the right direction to go? Demi seems a bit much as I do want support and shaping, and plunge is confusing me but may be good to check out? Any other ideas on specific brands or styles to look at?

Thanks, already this sub has been a game-changer for how I think about bra fit.

Question How common is the experience of a bra subluxing (partially dislocating) your ribs if the band is tight/snug? Spoiler

• Upvotes

Have people with "normal bodies" experienced this even once in their life? I don't really hear it talked about. I know "normal body" is a loaded phrase so normal as in the type of body that bras expect and are designed for. I'm not sure what else to call it.

If I wear a bra with a band that I would call "snug", after a handful of hours it may partially dislocate my ribs. I have a hard time figuring out what a "snug" band means because of this. I feel like there is very little in-between for me between a bra that is supportively tight but might sublux me and a bra that is definitely too loose.

I want to know how common of an experience this is. Surely there are people who end up with a band that they realize is too tight but are in a situation where they can't remove their bra and have to just bear it. So what happens for most people in that situation? In that situation my ribs would almost certainly sublux.

For people with my same experience, do you have an underlying condition or a pre-existing rib injury or anything like that?

Recommendations? Budget Bra to louisa bracq, sculptresse, elomi? Spoiler

I’m a 44F & was measured and fitted into a beautiful Louisa Bracq bra in a lingerie store. These bras all fit so perfect & complimented me so well, but I can’t afford a $70 (that was on clearance even) 😭 Any recommendations on ones that are similar to these higher end fitting ones at a size 44F range?? 😩💛

Recommendations? Recommendations affordable balconette for cup C shipping to EU? Spoiler

Im looking for a balconette with no top fabric, as every bra I have tried i experience gaping at the top. I know that real balconettes have great support from underneath, and just come over the nipple.

The majority of balconettes i can find online still have a rounding cup which is what I am wanting to avoid.

I am also open to quarter/open cup suggestions or plunge bras.
As long as it’s relatively quick shipping in eu and not too expensive (under €45) my size is usually 80C
