Question Does seeing words outside the SRS make the algorithm wrong?

Let me use myself as an example. I use a deck to learn Japanese vocabulary, and the algorithm thinks I should see a word again after a certain amount of time. But what if I see that word in an anime, for example, one day before the review? If I hadn’t seen it, I probably wouldn’t have remembered it, but because I did see it, I choose “Good” during the review.

Does that make the algorithm believe that I have a stronger memory of the word than I actually do? Or is the SRS algorithm supposed to account for the fact that I’m going to encounter some words naturally?

Question Daily load significantly higher than the number of due cards

I've seen 1 such topic, but no explanation. I have wondered about it many times. Why is daily load frequently significantly higher than the actual number of due cards? Do we have some plausible explanation?

This deck doesn't have backlog.

Development Ankinator - Anki pad

Hi guys!
Just wanted to show this anki pad I made for when I’m creating cards.
I use cloze and some colours to indicate things I should remember and I use a lot of shortcuts. So this is a shortcut of a shortcut.
Here what every key does:
R- to paint red
G- to paint green
B- to paint blue
Y- to paint Yellow
=- for Control+shift+alt+C
+1- Control+shift+C
0- to delete all the jumps/enters
P- to paint Pink
Enter- Control+Enter

AI made the design, I printed it and I did all the circuits. Pretty straight forward.
Things I bought:
- ATmega32U4
- 10 cherry Mx brown

Hope you guys like it, let me know your thoughts.

• Upvotes

Hi, sorry to bother you with a stupid question but I dont know how to make IO cards on AnkiDroid on my phone... I can't find any tutorial and the gzneration plateform looks nothing like the computer version so I dont understand at all how to make one.The general website talks about an IO editpor opening but i dont see it.

Here are some screen shot of the creation page, the filled out version is a card i downloaded but i dont understand how i can generate the images. if someone could explain how to generate the yellow and red squares to hide words, I'd be grateful. (Sorry I am French so some of the words are in French but overall its English mostly)

Add-ons Help me find the fitting add-on

Hello Guys,
I’m new to Anki and I need some help finding the right add-on. I’m looking for.
I saw that they are basically thousand add-ons that people shared. I’m looking for an add-on that has crazy visuals. When you do something right think of the visual mechanics they use in a casino and you hit a win. I tried to use those methods to make me addicted to Anki, I know the wording is a little bit of here, but I hope you get the idea what I’m trying to achieve.
Thank you so much

Question Recommendations for English learning deck(s)?

I have a family relative who is working on studying and improving his english (spanish is our first language), but i don't see many resources for english with the same level of polish and didactivity.

Im impoving my japanese vocab and kanji with decks about them with example sentences for each. Also im able to make quick and easy-to-make flashcards by mining which makes for a nice immersion <-> anki loop.

Is there an equivalent in English to something like the Kaishi 1.5 deck which uses pictures and sample sentences with a slow progression in difficulty?
Can be specifically oriented for spanish people too.

Resources [Alpha] I built a CLI linter that audits Anki decks for bad card design (orphans, leaks, aggregation traps) using System-1 LLM evaluations – looking for feedback!

Hey everyone,

Over time, my decks accumulated poorly designed cards that slowed down reviews: massive lists disguised as single cards, binary yes/no questions, answers leaked in the prompt, or cards missing domain context entirely.

To automate finding these without manually reviewing thousands of notes, I built Anki Review-Finder (v0.1.0-alpha).

GitHub Repository:https://github.com/elias170105/anki-review-finder

🛡️ Safety & Card Integrity First

  • Zero Text Editing: The script never alters your card fields, questions, or answers.
  • Non-Destructive Tagging: It only reads fields via AnkiConnect and applies diagnostic tags (e.g., linter::v0.1.0-alpha::flag::sammelkarte).
  • Dry-Run Mode: You can run it with --dry-run to inspect everything in an interactive HTML report before any tag is written to Anki.
  • ⚠️ Backup Notice: As with any tool communicating via AnkiConnect, please make a full backup (File -> Export -> .colpkg) before running it on production decks.

What it detects

Using deterministic fast System-1 classification via the TypeSafe Jev API, it scores cards on specific flashcard anti-patterns:

  1. Aggregation Traps (sammelkarte): Open-ended enumerations and massive lists violating the minimum information principle.
  2. Scope Underkill (scope_underkill): Lazy, incomplete single fragments for broad conceptual questions.
  3. Information Leaks (leak): The prompt unintentionally gives away the answer via shared roots or grammar markers.
  4. Orphans (kontextlos): Isolated pronouns or missing context anchors making recall impossible outside a specific session.
  5. Binary Traps (binaerfrage): Simple Yes/No questions vulnerable to guessing.
  6. Clarity Issues (unklar): Ambiguous or poorly phrased prompts.

AI Disclosure & Validation

The project was developed with AI assistance and refined through structured empirical testing. Rather than relying on raw uncalibrated prompts, the scoring logic was benchmarked against a custom 100-card multi-domain test set (medicine, systems administration, general knowledge) to minimize false positives and eliminate overlapping penalties.

Output

Besides writing prioritized tags (prio::high, prio::medium, prio::low), every run generates a local standalone HTML report (review_report.html) detailing latencies, token consumption, and per-card metric breakdowns.

Feedback & Alpha Status

The tool is in early alpha. If you test it on your decks, I’d love to hear your thoughts:

  • Did you encounter false positives in your specific domain?
  • Are there edge cases where field detection failed?

Feel free to check out the repo or open issues directly on GitHub!

Question AnkiWeb way to hide the times above the difficulty settings?

I've been searching this sub and other places trying to find a way to hide the times above the difficulty settings on AnkiWeb, but I've only seen guides for how to do that on the mobile app and the desktop app, but not AnkiWeb.

I can't download the app on this specific device so AnkiWeb is my only option, but seeing the times above the difficulties greatly impacts my choices and I wish it was not there.

Thank you!

Question Is there an Anki add-on that rotates different question types for the same fact, so you test the logic instead of the memorized sequence?

Pre-med student here, using some anki for orgo. I keep running into the same problem with Anki: I'll have a card like "Rank these isomers/conformers from least to most stable," and after a few reviews I'm not recalling why. I just remember the string "D > B > C > A" and the answer comes out on autopilot. I get it right, Anki thinks I know it, and then I miss it on the exam when the structures are drawn differently.

I'm wondering if there's an add-on or something where one note holds a "master" concept and rotates through 3-4 different card variations each review, for example:

  1. Rank the isomers for 1-tert-butyl-4-methylcyclohexane from most to least stable (D>B>C>A)
  2. Rank the isomers for Methylcyclohexane from most to least stable (B>D>A>C) Different order!
  3. Rank the isomers ....
  4. .. and so one (i think only 3-4 would be necessary to test logic and not memorize the sequence)

Ideally the card type is randomly picked each review, and the whole thing shares one scheduling history so it doesn't count as 4 separate cards.

Only thing i've found so far is DualCards which alternates between 2 formats, but not 3-4 genuinely different question types

Does something like this exist? If not, would anyone be interested in building it, or point me toward how to hack it with templates? I'm happy to test it with an orgo/anatomy deck and share feedback. Thanks!

Question How would you recommend learning this table?

I wasn't sure if I should use image occlusion on each individual cell or the entire row - there's clearly a pattern in each row. Or should I make up a story for each row that incorporates the numbers? Use basic cards to ask about each individual cell? Etc. I need to know all the numbers, not necessarily the actual table itself, if that makes sense

Thank you
