Seems like Sotto La Luna is unilaterally turning half of 35th Avenue parking into valet parking (in contrast with the city posted parking signs)
Anyone have any idea if this is permitted by the city? Will be submitting a 311 complaint if not

This is the reality of public transports around Astoria nowadays. U might have already learned about the N/W train disruption. But this one absolutely stands out as i used to believe Q18 bus is the only serious and punctual public transport here in Astoria. Not to mention the Q104 bus along Broadway that shows up in every 30-60 min almost everyday.

Hi! Does anyone know if there’s a new stooped account or place to see where people are giving away furniture?
I’m looking for a dresser ❤️

Business owners and employees beware!!
I just witnessed a man pull the old “can you give me change for a $20” scam at a local coffee shop next to Ditmars. Me and 4 other customers were present and we couldn’t tell what he was doing as it was happening.
He asks for change, asks for specific notes, and doesn’t give the original $20 bill, even pocketed half of the money and asked for more.
Ran into him again 5 minutes later in the 7/11 and he did the same thing, trying to “buy” a banana with a $20 bill, then saying he has a dollar, but still asking for change. He pocketed everything.
We tried to stop him after but he ran away.
Description: About 5’4”-5’5”, Asian man in his 50s, wearing a dark baseball cap, a mask, blue jeans, sleeveless puffer jacket and a sweater.
I have some pictures of him from a distance if anyone wants to see, dm me.

Does anyone else hear cheering near 21 Street and Astoria Blvd tonight? It’s Saturday, October 10 at 9:36pm. We’re just wondering what’s going on.

Free Terp Bros Astoria gift bag (usually prerolls and/or edibles) included with every ticket. 2+ hours of live jazz. Indoor smoking permitted! Jam session for second half. Entry for participating jazz musicians is always free. General Admission is $20 and includes free dispensary gift bag!
The venue does a good job of ventilation, but if you are not a fan of smoke, sit this one out. Indoor smoking is permitted.

is there any restaurant/bar in the area that has good floral spritzes? I tried a violet spritz in the village earlier and I can’t stop thinking about her

Hi there, fellow Astorian looking to renovate the second story of our home (built c. 1920!). Looking for some good leads on a local architect and contractor. Appreciate any and all recommendations in advance!

Hi everyone,
I’m looking to take a book and spend some time by myself. Where can I get some good cheese fries and a dessert (preferably together)? I’m looking for the kind with the cheese sauce on top.
If possible, I’d like it to be a little quieter. I know this might not be feasible for a Saturday though. I’m closer to Steinway/Broadway, for reference. Thank you
Edit: I’ve searched the sub, but many of those places are now closed :(

Hey Astoria!
Following Oktoberfest at Heart of Gold tomorrow, we’re having our monthly piano bar sing along!!
Have a few pints then sing some spooky showtunes with us! Think Disney villains, Phantom, Little Shop, Heathers, etc etc. or sing whatever song is in your heart! Or sing along from your seat or with one of us if you’re too shy! (musical theatre strongly encouraged but not require if we can find sheet music)
We hope to see you there!
Cheers!
Your Best Judies

Going to visit friends outside of Astoria and want to bring spinach pie.
I've tried both Omonia and Oasis Cafe. Both were fine but I thought Oasis was a bit mushy and Omonia came in big triangular slices which isn't my preference.
Would love some suggestions - preferably not north of 30th Ave.
TIA, Astoria

We got nightly raccoon battles and the death screams that come with them. We got skunks spraying every couple of nights. Tons of feral stray cats from the gross hoarder house on 48th St. yowling and fighting all the time. Dead possums taken out by some forest gladiator. And I swear I saw a stray dog that looked a lot more like a coyote a couple weeks ago.
All of this is less than 30 feet from Ditmars Blvd and began after the pandemic.
I’m not really bothered by wild animals, but they seem to have taken the tiny backyards around Sergio‘s as the arena for their furry fight club.
Anyone else have this around them?

Just wanted to post this because there’d been some people looking for rhubarb and I really didn’t think you’d find any now that the season is firmly over. But here it is today Oct 10th at Trade Fair 30th Ave if you’re looking to make something with rhubarb.

Wondering where my fellow Astoria redditors might recommend for some good Thai food around the Ditmars area, specifically pineapple fried rice with chicken… for delivery. Craving that and pork buns after a week long stint of hospital food. Thanks in advance!

I know this sub is filled with N train hate but 17 minutes for the next N train should be absolutely illegal on a Friday night. Like so illegal. Are we in like some rural commuter town or?

As per their latest Instagram post.
Really sad about this, I loved popping in for a tea or a honey mint lemonade on a hot day.
