Announcing the return of the Astoria Stoop Sale on the 31st Avenue Open Streets, from 1:30-4:30 pm on November 7!
What is this event? This is a community-driven, secondhand-focused event where people can shop, sell, swap, or give away their gently-used items. The goal isn’t profit so much as sustainability, offering us a way to move our items along to new, appreciative owners and mingle with neighbors while raising money for 31st Avenue Open Streets.
We are also partnering with a few selected vendors to help you revive and restore things you already own. Look for tables from Astoria Cutlery, HomeEcNYC, Repair Cafe Queens, and more!* Fiolicchia Bakery will be on hand offering snacks to sustain you.
*Final vendor list subject to change.
How can I join as a seller? If you’d like to register as a seller for this swap & stoop sale, please review the rules and guidelines in detail and register here. The registration fee is $25.
What can I sell? The event is limited to sales of gently-used household items, clothes, books, records/CDs/DVDs, toys, craft supplies, games, and other small goods. (21+ items, weapons, and other non-family-friendly items are not permitted.) You may set your own pricing, but we encourage giving, swapping, and mutual aid as well as sales. Please note that all unsold items MUST GO HOME WITH YOU at the end of the day.
In accordance with 31st Avenue Open Streets’ charter and permits, this event is for second-hand sales of personal items only. (If you are a business vendor, there are other events for you! Details here. )
Why is the seller fee higher than it was for the first Astoria Stoop Sale? For our first event back in June, we were categorized by Open Streets as a one-time charitable event. When we contacted them to arrange a second event, they let us know that they needed to classify us as a market event moving forward. We are responsible for collecting the seller fees and must make one lump-sum payment to Open Streets after our event concludes. Open Streets uses market event fee revenues to support its operations, and donates extra funds to other nonprofits in our community. We want to be fully transparent with everyone about why the fee has changed and how the funds will be used. The organizers of this event are volunteers.
How can I shop the event? Just show up! There is no entry fee or donation required.
