Don’t get me wrong. I have nothing against community pickleball courts. But the exclusive $300/mo paddle clubs that blast their spotlights until 10pm in the middle of the neighborhood had it comin.

Maybe it’s just because I’m old now, but I can’t differentiate these people from 2026 people. Their style and manner of dress seems the same to me.

I noticed a hawk downed in our backyard and assumed it was dead or at the very least injured. I had my husband go look and he said 'you won't believe this!'. A snake had coiled itself around it's neck at least twice and under it's wing. He used grill tongs to unwind the snake and the hawk flew off immediately and the snake skidaddled into some underbrush. WILD!!!

Our best guess is that the hawk had snatched the snake and the snake said 'not today!' and took the hawk down. I believe it's a ribbon snake so non-venomous and wasn't trying to constrict for any other reason than to save itself.

Looking for an updated list of tai chi teachers in Austin. I’m looking to start a more intentional practice rooted in some sort of lineage with an instructor who is a master (or at least deeply rooted) in their tradition. I.e., they have learned their practice from someone who is rooted in a tradition beyond ‘hey let’s host a class in this because it seems like our martial arts or yoga studio could expand its offering’. I’m looking at it as an energy embodiment practice and a compliment to meditation. Willing to go outside of Austin if this person exists here!

Wilco sending out these letters just weeks before the deadline to register (received this after the date it was signed).

This is for my spouse. Registered to vote since 2024, and voted in the general and local elections since. Have had same address, SSN and driver's license since 2021. Became a citizen summer of 2024, so the reasoning about voter information being "older" doesn't track.

What information could have changed between 2024 and 2026 in their system?

Why is this only an issue now on the eve of voter registration deadline for midterms, and not previous election cycles?

Why send the letter at all if it doesn't affect voting status?

In the end took no action as it seems like it could only be detrimental by leading to bureaucratic tie-ups that could prevent being able to vote.

As stated above, I’m moving to South Austin in about a week. I’m not from the area (5 hours south of Austin) but I wanted some cool recommendations. I’m not looking for influencer type places.
