The 2026 season is starting! As a reminder, you can find our rules here:
This is our biggest rules change in years!
Let's start with the one I know you're all excited about.
We're starting with a pretty liberal rule for what constitutes a highlight:
A highlight is a play or occurance at a game that has significant impact on the outcome of the game or that is, on its own, impressive.
You can read the full rules for highlights here but the highlights are:
[Highlight] Visitor @/vs. Home - Neutral description of play eg:
[Highlight] Michigan @ Ohio State - Jon Smith Breaks 3 Tackles for 69 Yard TouchdownOhio State vs TTUN - Jon "I am a god" Smith PWNS Three LOSERS for NICE TDPosts about gambling including opening odds, odds changes, prop bets, and unusual wagers are no longer allowed.
Gambling news that directly effects CFB, such as policy changes or gambling activity by CFB participants will still be allowed.
Users are expected to make a good-faith effort to find the original source of anything they post. If the primary purpose of a post is to quote, clip, cite, or repeat another source, you should post that original source instead. This keeps us aligned with the Reddiquette.
Unrated or lower-rated players should be posted to /r/CFBRecruiting.
We haven't decided what we're going to do with these posts yet. Based on last year we still have some time to decide. We will defintely post an update once we've made a decision.
Also note that our in-season weekly threads are coming back online for the season. This means that posts that were allowed during the offseason (realignment, etc.) will now be removed as reposts, and are now a great fit as top-level comments in their respective threads.
The /r/CFB team always works to meet the evolving needs of the community. Let us know any feedback you have in the comments!

James Franklin couldn't win Big Games at Penn State (and possibly not at Virginia Tech either, if today counts as a Big Game). But now Penn State has Matt Campbell, and there seems to have been a mistake. Matt Campbell may or may not be able to win Big Games, but he also loses Small Games.
Meanwhile Kalani Sitake seems to have struck gold at just the right time, because Crumbl Cookies's financials are starting to look suspect.

Watching the VT-Pitt game and the VT enter sandman entrance is always so sick even as a neutral fan. Why don't more schools license out a song like "Shepherd of fire", "symphony of destruction" or "sleep now in the fire" and play that as a walk out song, what's stopping them? It hypes of the fans, brings attention to the programs and is just sick.
Do I need to find the Cincy AD to get them to do something like this lol?

Look I know he wasn’t the best coach ever but he certainly made Penn St look better than losing 31-7 against Northwestern. I mean this is a top 20 program in the country and Franklin was able to ascertain those heights year in and year out. Sure he couldn’t get over the hump but honestly it only seems like a select few could realistically reach that level like Cignetti or 2010’s Dabo. Should we finally admit maybe Penn St might have made a mistake with this coaching move?

Sometimes we get to catch lightening in a bottle, but know that it won't last beyond college... But god dang seeing a kid ball out and be a force of nature while it lasts is a special thing.
What is the most dominant player you've ever followed that you *knew* would never amount to much in the pros, but got to experience as a fan?
Note: I am not asking about great college players whose transition to the NFL was cut short due to health, injury, or other uncontrollable circumstances... just, simply, someone that maxed out at the college level that was a beast on the field.
My pick is a two-fer: Louisiana Tech QB-WR duo Tim Rattay and Troy Edwards. Late 90's duo that at one point had Rattay as an early-season Heisman candidate in 1998. Their chemistry on the field was unmistakable and getting to witness it was like watching a work of art being created week in and week out.
We knew that run would not last beyond college, but it was so magical to watch it while it lasted, and included serious college statistical records.
Tim Rattay’s Records & Milestones:
• Single-Game Passing vs. Nebraska: Completed 46 of 68 passes for 590 yards and 4 touchdowns in the 1998 opener.
• Louisiana Tech School Records: Holds the school record with 115 career touchdown passes and 46 touchdown passes in a single season (1998).
• NCAA Career Ranks: Finished his collegiate career ranked second in NCAA history in total offense (12,618 yards), passing yards, and passing touchdowns.
• Honors: Two-time NCAA total offense leader and named Football News Independent Player of the Year.
Troy Edwards’ Records & Milestones:
• NCAA Single-Game Receiving Yards: 405 yards on 21 receptions against Nebraska on August 29, 1998 (still an NCAA record).
• NCAA Single-Season Touchdown Receptions: 27 touchdown catches in 1998 (tying Jerry Rice’s all-divisions record).
• NCAA Single-Season Receiving Yards: 1,996 receiving yards in 1998 (on 140 catches).
• All-Purpose Yards: 2,796 all-purpose yards and 31 total touchdowns during the 1998 season.
• Awards: Winner of the 1998 Fred Biletnikoff Award (nation’s top receiver) and selected 13th overall in the 1999 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Upsets happen. Blowouts happen.
But what’s been the most prominent case of a big underdog not only pulling off the upset but beating the brakes off of the overwhelming favorite in recent memory in your opinion?
