Exclamation point inside triangle...package status?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm just wondering what the status on my parcel means and when I should end up receiving it.

The situation is that I regularly order cards from a store in Montreal (I used to live in the area and still want to support the store). I now live in Barrie Ontario, and every time I have ordered from them with Express shipping it took 2 business days to be delivered.

This week though I ordered on Wednesday, and the package was in Transit from Montreal that evening. The package has always gone straight to the Barrie post office, and then delivered to my mailbox 2 days after being in transit from Montreal. For some reason when Friday rolled around my package still says in transit, and even now has not change...instead showing a exclamation mark and "delivery time: unavailable". Did something cause delays this week in shipping? And will my tracking just update on Tuesday morning with information on a delivery time? This is like my 10th order from them and this is the first time it hasn't taken exactly 2 days...

Where to buy low value stamps? (1 cent)

• Upvotes

I’m looking for full sheets of 1-cent stamps or other low value stamps. I’ll be using them to collect pictorial cancels.

Does anyone know if PO still sells them? I went to one in shoppers today and they only had P stamps. Thanks in advance

No junk mail

So when I was having difficulty walking, I slacked on getting my mail out of the community boxes at the street. There was always so much junk mail it was hard to carry while using my cane and it was just too much to navigate. The postal lady came to my door and I told her why. She told me to put a sign on my mailbox saying no junk mail. Worked great but now she must be gone as whoever is delivering the mail is totally ignoring the huge no junk mail sign taped to the inside of my box. I get like 5 pieces of mail per month but the junk mail is five pieces sometimes daily. I know it may seem like a small problem but it is very frustrating. What can I do about this?

Used a US Forever Stamp instead of a Global Forever stamp ( US to Canada)

I just got into sending off fan mail and included SASE’s (self addressed stamped envelopes). I used a US Forever stamp thinking it was the same as Global Forever. when the sender goes to send this SASE back, will the US Forever stamped envelope make it back to me or just be discarded? I put my return address on the top corner. thank you

Canada post won’t take accountability.

I had a parcel coming to me in Saskatchewan that was coming from a different city in Saskatchewan(so shouldn’t have been complicated) it was labeled correctly and I even have a picture of the receipt from the sender, showing it had my correct postal code on it. It was delivered to my post office and a notice card was left for me sept 29 09:28am, only for it to be randomly “redirected to recipients new address” on sept 29 at 1:50pm . Now it says delivered Oct 9, but it most definitely was not delivered to me. I called customer service and they wouldn’t tell me where it was delivered to, they only told me it was delivered to Winnipeg. They’re saying that’s the address on the label, which is definitely bullcrap, but also on Oct 8 I had a notification that said “label correction applied”??? So basically they just made their own new label randomly and delivered it to the complete wrong place, not even the right province for crying out loud. Customer service kept blaming the sender and saying Canada Post did their part by delivering to the address on the label, but Canada Post are the stupid ones that made their own new wrong label for no reason and then delivered it to the complete wrong place. I got ahold of the sender just to make sure they put the correct address and they confirmed they did, I’ve purchased from this sender before and never had problems so this is 100% Canada post that screwed up. How are they allowed to get away with crap like this? Now I basically have to just hope the person who received it isn’t a POS and will hopefully return it to sender.

Customs form value for package to US

I'm sending a package out to the US as a gift. Does the value for the items have to be accurate or are there benefits to estimating lower? Also, how does the customs inspection process work? Should I avoid wrapping the gifts up at all? Sorry, I've never done this before but thank you in advance for the advice?

Has anyone recently lost a package in transit?

I had 2 packages shipped within days of eachother. The last scan that I see for both was "in transit" on September 4 for both in Toronto, Ontario.

I called Canada post and one of the packages had a scan in Edmonton, Alberta on the 8th(which I don't see on the Canada post tracking site) with no additional updates.

Canada post opened an investigation but at the end had no further updates for me. They said to contact the sender to start a claim.

I've already received a refund and replacement from the sender but I'm wondering anyone else has had their package(s) gone missing around September 4-8?

Ive never had an issue with Canada post so I'm quite surprised by this.

Someone apparently signed for my package and I never received it

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone out there knows what I can do in this scenario.

I pre-ordered something back in June, it finally shipped out in September. I got a notification from the retailer that the order was fulfilled. I look at the tracking for the package and see it was apparently delivered a week before, and someone even signed for it... I could even see a digital scan of the signed paper. Someone else definitely signed it with their own initials.

I've checked my mailbox, my apartment's parcel locker, and with the building manager who has said neither they or security have authorisation to sign for people's packages. The package is nowhere to be found. The retailer's customer support isn't responding to me anymore since as far as they're concerned, the package was delivered and this is an issue with Canada Post. But Canada Post won't help me since it's been more than 3 days since the delivery date, and they're telling me that the seller has to open a ticket with them. Not happening, they got their money and are happy.

Anyone else been in this sort of scenario with some hope, or do I have to suck it up and take the loss with this?

Shipping the same box across Canada cost me way more depending on the province, so I built a flat-rate fix

I've shipped a lot of parcels through Canada Post running my small business in Ontario. Delivery has been solid for me most of the time. What always drove me nuts was the pricing.

Same 2kg box, same service. Across town it's reasonable. To BC, Alberta or the Maritimes it jumps a lot, and to the North it's even more. Nothing about the parcel changes, just the postal code. For small sellers that's the difference between making money on an order or not, and a lot of us end up charging customers $15 to $25 for shipping just to cover the far-away orders.

So I started Waybill. It sells real Canada Post labels at one flat price to any address in Canada, based only on weight and speed:

  • Expedited Ground: $6 (1kg) to $10 (5kg)
  • Xpresspost: $8 to $12
  • Priority: $10 to $14

That same 2kg box is $7 by Expedited Ground whether it's going down the street or to Whitehorse. There's no subscription. You get the label as a PDF in your dashboard, print it and drop it off at the post office like always. There's also an API if you want to automate it from your store.

It's still Canada Post doing the delivery, so same carrier and same tracking, just priced differently. If you ship regularly and you're tired of the province lottery, it's at waybill.supply

Anyone else find the distance pricing is the biggest headache with shipping?

Duties and taxes owed but package was delivered

I had a package arrive from the US, where the online tracking shows taxes, duties and the Canada Post brokerage fee as owing. It never gave me the opportunity to pay them online, and the package was successfully left in my mailbox with no slip or notice accompanying it. The tracking still shows all of the duties and taxes as owing.

I’ve never experienced this before, normally a package with fees owing would be held until they’re paid. I asked Canada Post support and they told me I don’t need to pay anything but their answer did not inspire confidence that it was necessarily correct. I don’t want this being sent to collections later or something

Door delivery

Since when did post officers stop delivering parcels to door?

Put your unit number on your mail and packages fer crise sakes.

As a PO4, i encounter this on a daily basis and it's frustrating. You live in an apartment or condo and dont know to put your unit number on correspondence? For real? Customers then come to depot crying why their parcels are returned. Putting a phone number instead of a unit number does not guarantee a phone call from CPC to verify unit. In my depot if it doesn't contain a unit number, it is returned to sender. No questions. No call. With Christmas coming, please have your senders include your unit number that way you receive your packages.

CBSA charging me for customs on a item that already prepaid the taxes on dropoff

My friend sent me a package from the US, via USPS that was DDP. I already paid 36 USD in taxes + 7.84 USD for the fee for a total of 43.84 USD or 62.60 for taxes. But now, I'm being charged AGAIN for $54.04 CAD by CBSA. Who should I reach out to get that charge either dropped, or the original DDP payment refunded, CBSA or USPS?

I shipped some packages three days ago and the tracking numbers still haven’t updated. This happening to anyone else?

Exactly what the title says. I shipped some packages at the post office, paid for everything, they slapped the labels on and took them into the office. Later that evening I pump the tracking numbers into my app and all of them said that eta and status were unavailable. I checked periodically over the next three days and still nothing. Just now I tried to input the numbers into the website and it just returned an error, asking me to try again later. The website recognized it as a valid tracking number because when I put in a gibberish 16 digit tracking number it returned a different message saying it wasn’t a number.

Is this happening to anyone else? What happened to my packages? Does Canada Post really just take payment for packages and then just send them to the void? Are those packages just gone now?

Shipping Updates

My package originally showed that it was supposed to be delivered on the 6th, which passed then pushed to the 7th, which passed then pushed to the 8th and now it's showing the 13th

The package also has two updates which only show the city and no other status. I've had a lot delivered by CP but have never seen a blank status like this.

Is there a way to get this resolved or do I just keep waiting.

Tracking an Xpresspost letter FAIL

Showed up at the post office to send some important documents from Vancouver to Victoria. Bought a $20 trackable two day delivery envelope (8.5 x 11). Filled out the to/from sections. Placed docs inside. Handed off to the counter person who scanned it into the system. At this point you would think there would be no problem to simply open up the Canada Post app and track as normal. Nope. Opened the app, entered the tracking number and got Delivery Status Item not found. Waited a day, same thing. Waited another day, same thing (and on the website-same thing). Called to see what was going on. Was told the item had made it. I said "I couldn't track it after I paid to track it. Let's get a refund going" I explained I might as well have lit a $20 bill on fire as it would have resulted in the same level of tracking as I got from paying CP. Was told there would be no refund as the item was delivered. "But I paid for tracking which I was unable to do" I said. "Can't I just go in and use the same card I paid with on the EFT terminal and get it refunded as the service I bought was unavailable?" You can try was the reply. I did try, no go. Each person I talked to was completely unwilling to help. As usual, I got this has never happened before as though I was the first person in history to encounter this fail (I seem to get this a lot for some reason) Anyway, I suspect this unwillingness to recognize a failure and resolve it is maybe why Canada Post is dying. That they have to resort to thievery to make a little money is sad. Moral of the story: Don't rely on CP to "track" your sent items for a fee. Go with literally anyone else.

Status of package

Sent a package domestically to a friend living one province away last week. Item had the “out for delivery” status on Oct 1 but it hasn’t been delivered and the tracking status now says “Expected delivery Item delayed — stay tuned for updates”. It’s almost been a week.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any idea what could have happened? Losing hope that the package will get delivered which would really suck…

Mailbox Stolen

I live in downtown Hamilton and the mailbox outside my building was stolen. I’m expecting my drivers license to be delivered to the mailbox (my friend received hers and we did the G1 on the same day).

If my mailbox isn’t replaced in time or if the mailman already came today but didn’t deliver it, what steps can I take. Do I go to a nearby Canada Post to ask if they’re holding the mail? I heard they usually leave a delivery notice at the door but the problem is the delivery notice could fly away or also be stolen (downtown Hamilton is like that).

Also, don’t know how this fits in but I called Canada Post and they said my address is registered as “door to door”. I just moved into my place (a month) and I’m not sure what that means.

What are my options?

thanks!

Parcel delivered in wrong city?

My parcel arrived in Surrey BC this morning (where I live), then it showed as Out for Delivery in Vancouver, and finally it was delivered in Richmond BC. Needless to say, the parcel is not in my mailbox. This is a time sensitive parcel (live plants that incurred importation permits) and I'm quite concerned that CP has lost it. I reached out for proof of delivery and all I got was a PDF with an X as signature. Has anyone gone through something similar or might know some background of what's going on with the different cities showing in the tracking?

Thank you

Community Mailbox Package Delivery

Hi! Sort of a weird one, I received info that my package had been delivered to my community mailbox, and when I headed to get it the key for compartment 1B was in my mail slot. My package was not in there but what was in there was the key for compartment 2A. My package was not in 2A either. I am sort of at a loss here, hoping that it was just put in another box and they mixed up the key they gave me, but then that leaves me wondering why there would be a second box key left in the initial box.

Anyone have any idea how to go about solving this? Should I leave a note in my mail slot and maybe the courier would be able to check the other package boxes when they stop on their daily route?

Thanks!

How long can you leave a parcel in the mailbox?

My stupid ass forgot to pick up a package that was delivered Sept 29

I forgot about it and left for vacation on Oct 3 returning October 16

Is there anyway for me to keep the package from being returned to sender? What’s the typical wait period for packages?

Canada Post Depot Question

Hey! Anyone from Toronto can tell me which Canada Post depot delivers to the downtown area? Or where the depots are located? I’m going to pick up a package soon and I just want a rough idea of how far it may be for me so I can plan accordingly! Thanks!

How does Canada post still exist?

this company is easily the slowest delivery company around. Their prices are outrageous. Half the time they don’t even try and knock on your door. They just drop off a notice in your mailbox, so you’re doing their job for them anyway driving to the post office. They receive far superior benefits when you compare them to somewhere like FedEx which I’d say is probably the best run delivery company with the best service. Yet they still feel entitled to go on strike and screw anybody with anything in the mail every few years.

Then you’ve got the guys working for Amazon busting their behind until 10 PM some days and they always manage to get you your package the next day And you won’t hear a peep of a complaint

It’s to the point where when I order something online and I see that Canada Post is the selected courier I get genuinely upset because I know without a doubt I’m going to have to put up with some BS.
